Yep, the little smile throughout the song/video told me that she really liked it. 😉 Kiss’s album“Destroyer” was the first one I ever owned. I was a five, nearly six, year old girl from the country, at the time. Still can’t believe my parents bought it for me, lol. I’ve been a fan ever since. 💁🏻‍♀️

My friends babysitter gave him some Kiss records, and we were loving the costumes, make up, Gene breathing fire, etc. I got Hotter Than Hell, Dynasty, and Double Platinum, for my 5th or 6th birthday, and I played them on my Mickey Mouse record player... ah, the good ol' days. 😄

There's a classic interview with KISS from 1979 you should react to. It's from 'The Tomorrow Show with Tom Snyder'. Trust me, it's funny af. Ace steals the show.

@@atrumphasmatis6719 if Ace's behavior pissed Paul off, he did a better job of hiding it than Gene, because I couldn't tell whether Paul was getting pissed off at Ace during that interview Gene on the other hand, it was blatantly obvious that he was getting pissed at Ace

Love this song. One of the all-time best. Supposedly this was an embarrassment for them for years. I dunno. Anyways, it's probably the only song of theirs I really like. I did enjoy "Lick It Up". The video is so incredibly 80s in terms of how cheesy rock could go. Paul Stanley asked me a question once. Story in 3...2...1 Ok. So back in the olden times (the 90s) I lived in NYC. I wasn't rich then either. So at some point I learned how to stand outside premieres etc to see famous people. I would take bad pictures and develop them which was about $15 in total entertainment expenses. Anyhoo, one day some of the other stalker people I befriended during this time were waiting for KISS outside this one hotel. It was a big deal because it was the first time they'd put on the makeup in years. They were there for a few days. So one day Dennis Rodman came out of the same hotel in a wedding dress. This is probably somewhere on KZfaq. Anyways, At the same time this was happening Paul came out of the hotel, not in makeup, and as he was passing me, unnoticed, he asked "what's going on?" because there a lot of commotion off to the side. And I told him, "that's Dennis Rodman" and he went "Oh" and walked away. That is my great Paul Stanley story. lol

As a kid, we would play Kiss in my friend's basement. Her older brothers played guitar and drums... they made me be Gene one time and ran out of makeup, so put marker on my eyes lmao My parents thought I'd been in a fight... My buddy and I used tennis rackets as guitars and would pretend for hours. I was Ace for Halloween a couple of times and won best costume at my elementary school Halloween carnival. Back around '04-'05 we went to see them in concert and I got my face painted as Ace. I was 35 at the time but felt 10 again.

You guys should check out "Psycho Circus" and "We Are One" by them. From the time I could walk and talk I have been a fan. Most people request the more popular ones but don't be afraid of the ones that stick out among the most requested. They always got a bad rap, not so much on the music, but judged more so from appearance. My grandma, who passed 2 years ago, wasn't a fan but if I sung a tune randomly or hummed it, I'd find her tapping her foot trying come up some sort of beat to it herself lol.

This song is polarizing among the KISS Army. Some love it and some hate it. It all depends on when you started liking the band. If you were with them from the beginning you probably view this time period as when KISS "sold out". If you were a kid in 1979 this was probably your first introduction to the band so you have an emotional attachment to this song. If you became a fan after 1979 you probably like it and think of it as another cool KISS song. It's really interesting to hear KISS fans discuss this song. Personally I love it and don't care that they went "disco". Good music is good music for my ears. Yes their concerts are awesome. I've seen them 4 times and each time was an experience.

They had a brilliant idea, it's a stage gimmic but it worked very well for them; people don't want to see the guy next door, they want to see a space alien on stage, people want to see rock stars! Without the stage makeup they'd have been just another rock band, and their music isn't the most complex or deep, it's just rock and roll.

If you watch any live concert performances from 1975-1978 especially, you'll see how badass KISS is/was back in the day with all the blood, fire, pyro, smoke, lights, confetti storms, hydraulic platforms, bombs and just really cool and catchy songs!...believe me, the time periods i already mentioned is when KISS was at their peak. By the time "I was made for lovin' you" came out, their popularity was starting to wane because most people hated the more poppier "disco" sound and the extravagant brightly colored outfits, whereas before 1979 their outfits were primarily black and silver.

When Kiss started out in 1973, they wanted to adopt a 'glam' image w/ makeup & eyeliner, like the New York Dolls, David Bowie... but the original 4 guys weren't particularly attractive in that image. They admitted they saw Alice Cooper performing one night in his trademark black eyeshade makeup character... and they thought that would suit them better - if each member of Kiss came up w/ a 'character' ...That was how the original Kiss had the makeup characters. Gene Simmons (bass/vocals) had the long tongue, and his character became 'the demon'... Their first manager (the late) Bill Aucoin saw them perform and brought in more production to add to their live show... Gene would breathe fire and split fake blood during the set... Ace Frehley (lead guitar) had his guitar 'smoke' during a guitar solo and shoot bottle rockets... Peter Criss would have his drums rise above the stage... There would be bombs and pyro going off, and that was Kiss' attraction, seeing them live in concert. 'I was made for loving you' was written by Paul Stanley (vocals & guitar) inspired by the disco music in the clubs of 1978/ '79... it marked a departure for Kiss from their hard rock sound. Although it became an international hit in 1979, Kiss saw their hardcore audiences be replaced by kids and their moms on tour... Peter Criss (drums) was struggling w/ drug problems, did not play on this record (mostly) and he was not performing well either... he was fired in 1980.

Marvel put out a comic book line with they as Super Heros with powers based on their makeup. If I had kept the ones I had they would be worth about $3000.00 each today. One issue sold, at that time (1977) for $1000. The band members each donated a pint of blood to be mixed with the ink for printing. A new car cost $5000 then.
