I relate to this song so much. I was in the foster care system back in 2001. I was one of those kids that was beaten and abused in every way. The child in this video was me. I got lucky and found my loving adoptive parents. I still struggle to this day as a 27 year old. I hope anyone that relates to this song knows that they are not alone

I remember hearing this for the first time in the 4th grade. Like the actual lyrics for child abuse awareness. We learned the meaning behind the lyrics then showed this video n it hurt my heart even then. I can not listen to this without crying. I just can't. It resonated more when I was old enough for momma to tell me of her own childhood. She went through similar n in some way worse than this lil girl. How she survived I have no clue but momma is my hero. In my 28 years I have seen n hear sooo many horror stories. Lived through some things myself that I won't get into right now but momma has been my rock. The reason she is who sh is. When we were lil she ran safe houses out of our house for kids n teens who needed a safe place or just food or supplies really. We had up to 14 with us at various times but our door was always open...i learned some major values from momma that I'll never forget. But that aside Martina has always been one of my favorite singers since.

My mom , she had 7 kids and tried hard. I was the 6th, and she was burnt out. Bc an alcoholic, she had her apt in the back of the house. Never would answer it. I stole coke bottles for idk how long to eat supper. I wished I was never born. Mb my parents would have made it without sooo many kids. 😢

She might be short, but damn she can belt it out and wail! She's the only woman I have seen that can out Pat Benatar, Pat Benatar herself! In fact she and Pat Benatar was on an episode of CMT Crossroads where country stars and rock stars meet and sing each other's songs. Martina just slayed "Hit Me With You Best Shot", and I think even Benatar was impressed, which says a lot. McBride has been a powerhouse voice since her debut, and it still impresses me that a woman with that little frame can punch so far above her weight with her voice. On top of that, her songs hit just right in the feels. "Independence Day" is a huge one of her hits that are on so many levels, same goes for "Broken Wing".

We just helped my daughter and 1 of the three grandson out of an abusive situation. Her husband is military and very controlling and tryed everything to keep her in the situation. She left and he filed a child protection order before she had a chance and the judge signed off on it and made her give him the abuser the kids back. We have a great attorney that is fighting to get the 2 and 6 year old right now from him. If you all are the praying kind please pray for her and the boys. We have to stop this violence!

My beautiful wife of 34 years is a Social Worker, she has been working for the state for over 24. More than once over those years I’ve had to hold her as she’s cried over a child’s death or one that was horribly abused. Our own children were a little sheltered at times trying to protect them. They knew the abuse hotline phone number from a early age and a couple times they intervened with a friend’s life. It was never a life and death situation but some family disputes. It makes me very proud of her when we’re out and about and run into LEO’s, judges or people that she has helped over the years. Several of them have said how much she helped on a case or helped someone is a situation. I don’t know how she does it at times but I do adore her for it.

The little boy was her guardian angel, he took her and other kids to heaven, the place where their loved.

I just turned 28 last month and I lost my dad this year to cancer on January 15th. We found out he had cancer at the beginning of November in 2022. And it was an aggressive cancer so it took him in just 2 months. So the holidays were hard. But all our family members were there so I’m glad everyone was there. It was Esophageal Cancer. The Lungs. I'm a stroke survivor since 2018. I lost my dad in 2010 and one of my very good friends to suicide seven years later. I was in a VERY toxic relationship for years that my three kids are currently receiving therapy for. So this got me right in the feels dude, fr. I'm so sad you're dealing with so much. Losing people you love is hard. The whole 'time heals all wounds' thing is garbage imo, but for me, it helps to feel like I'm doing them justice by being a good person and doing my best to live a life I'll be happy to tell them about when I see them again at the end of the day. You know what I mean? And spreading love and positivity is so needed, so pretty sure you're doing that! So, I say keep doing what you're doing and look forward to telling them how much you honored them with all the good you did for people when you see them again.

He came out of the closet as a Christian when he was 18. I’m not Christian. I believe in a kind and just universe. His stepfather is a Christian, but not practicing. How did I (a LGBTQIA person who’s considered a heathen) handle the situation? I bought my son a Bible and wish him well on his spiritual journey. You love your kids no matter what.
