I believe the kids at the end are all kids who have died at the hands of their abusers. And they are there to welcome her and show her the love she wasn't shown on earth

The little boy was her guardian angel who suffered the same fate previously. Hence you never see him change clothes, even at night when it's bedtime and he's talking to her out her window and the room is dark. All the children at the end are a representation of that. Each of those kids at the end of the video suffered that same fate, but you find them together and happy for the first time. It took death for them to be happy because they weren't loved in life, they were beaten and abused literally to death, but also shows God didn't forget them, by uniting them together in the afterlife as they all make their way to heaven. This song was to bring awareness to child abuse and not to sit idly by and watch it or pretend you don't see it. This song *NEVER* fails to make me cry *EVERY SINGLE TIME.*

I agree, in my life I don't know how many times I have heard men talk about what horrible their exes were, they just had to leave, but they leave their innocent, helpless children behind. I am not talking about the men who fight for their kids, that is a different scenario. That happened in my late Sister-in-Laws family. Their mom was crazy. She would chase her husband around the house with an axe. She believed people lived in the heating ducts. He left and didn't even try to take his 5 kids, he almost never saw them. The trauma they endured was horrible.

Loved your reactions. This song always tears me up. My interpretation has always been that the boy was the angel of death came to prepare her. As you may have noticed as her mom started beating her he looked up to heaven asking his father why she has to suffer. Then at the end he phases thru the people showing he's angelic and she goes to join other abused and neglected children.

Concrete angels refers to the headstones of the graves of the kids!!!!! The little boy was an angel that came to get her and Martina said she wanted this song after her niece was killed by physical abuse by her sister. Also I was beaten on an almost daily basis and can relate to the part of the song of wishing I was never born and I would be at wrestling practice and the welts sometimes would open up and I would have blood on my shirt, but my coaches or teammates never said a thing.

Hearing this song when I was a kid is one of the reasons I try my damndest to look after everybody's kids. I've been taking care of kids including my own 5 for over 20 years. If I see something wrong I'm going to report it. Teachers are actually mandated reporters. Not sure if that was the case back then though. 😢

I find it interesting that there are two interpretations as to who the boy is. One is that he is simply an angel guiding her to Heaven. The other is that he actually died from child abuse as well and that he guides her to a special place where only kids go who die in this same manner. Similar to the limbo the girl is trapped in during the events of the Lovely Bones.

I haven't seen this video in a long time and I won't lie, I cried at the part with the paramedics and the police showing up. This should never happen to a child, even though it's not real in the video, it happens more than we know and those innocent hearts cry out for love in those moments.

I grew up in the 60's and 70's, things like this happened a lot, back then there no real laws to protect us kids, unless we had to be hospitalized or beat to death it was considered a family issue. We suffered mental, physical and for some sexual abuse. For many of us, we lived in hell, I became an introvert, I have worn hearing aids since I was 3, because of my disability not only was I teased at school, but my mom used to hide them and I'd get hit because she would tell my stepdad that I lost them again, then after getting hit she would say oh, I found them. I'm the oldest of 5 and I used to dream I had been kidnapped as a baby and my real parents were trying to fine me. Books were my constant companions.
