Come a little bit closer
Hear what I have to say
Just like children sleepin'
We could dream this night away
But there's a full moon risin'
Let's go dancin' in the light
We know where the music's playin'
Let's go out and feel the night
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
When we were strangers
I watched you from afar
When we were lovers
I loved you with all my heart
But now it's gettin' late
And the moon is climbin' high
I want to celebrate
See it shinin' in your eye
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon
Because I'm still in love with you
I want to see you dance again
Because I'm still in love with you
On this harvest moon

Neil Young is eclectic. He can go from a song like this, to full on rock and roll with songs like "Like a Hurricane" or "Cortez the Killer". My favorite Neil concert was in Athens, Ga. in the early 80's. Over an hour of acoustic Neil, followed by an hour and a half of Neil with his band "Crazy Horse".

Once upon a time I was at a Cajun Boucherie, just chilling when I ran up with Neil Young and John Fogerty roaming around and having a great time. Black Oak Arkansas was on stage and Jim Dandy sang "Jim Dandy (To The Rescue)" before Ruby Star did a cover of "Maybe I'm Amazed" that still tears me up. Neil seemed really happy and relaxed. The Bayou is an amazing place and John had a place there to chill at. No muss no fuss, just good times and no stars, just enjoying the moment.

Thank you for reacting to one of our Canadian legends, even though he moved to the States and now has US citizenship as well, I believe. When you react to "Old Man" and "Heart of Gold" look for the live versions from 1971 and watch the long version with the introductions by Neil as it shows a lot of his personality. "Helpless", "The Needle And The Damage Done", "Down By The River", "Cinnamon Girl", and "After The Goldrush" are just some of his songs you should get to one day. As for Joni Mitchell? Absolutely! Can't go wrong with either of these Canuck mega stars!!

A gorgeous love song! It was played at our wedding, and i loved hearing it again. It's not typical of his style, which ranges from introspective acoustic songs through to some of the loudest, grungiest rock you ever heard. Watch him live for best effect. Hi Diane, merry Monday! Neil Young goes back a long time. He was part of the 60s group Crosby Stills Nash and Young. I saw him in concert back in 1990 in Dallas at the Bronco Bowl. He was doing the Rust Never Sleeps tour. It was a great show. He came out for the 1st part of it by himself with an assortment of acoustic guitars, sat down and did a long set covering many of songs he did as part of CSN&Y, as well as a lot of his solo work. Then after a brief intermission, he returned with his backing band Crazy Horse. The 2nd half of the show was electric, and he really rocked out! Lots of high energy stuff with distortion and effects. And he played for a long time, too! Another group you should react to is The Pretenders. Check out the song Just the Night in My Veins, it's really good from a female perspective. Give Chewie a hug, I love you and have a great week!

I'm ashamed to say that I never heard of this song until I heard it played in the 2018 film, "A Quiet Place". At first I assumed it was one of his tunes from his 1972 album, "Harvest" of which my older brother had a copy in the '70's and he was a big fan of Young and of CSNY. Myself I wasn't a big fan of Young, but always loved his "Rockin the Free World", and his all too short song, "Needle and the Damage Done". I'm more of a fan of CSNY as far as Folk rock goes such as their tunes, "Helplessly Hoping", "Our House", "Teach Your Children" and "Suite Judy Blue Eyes". Also like Stephen Still's, "Love the One You're With", and Graham Nash's "Chicago" song. But "Harvest Moon" is a very beautiful love ballad, and I was surprised to learn that it came out in 1992 when it sounds very much like a '70's release. The band, "America" is also one of my favorite folk rock groups from the 1970's and are worth checking out. Also, the little known Canadian group, "The Hometown Band" from 1976.

15 minutes away from where I am sitting right now, is the birth place of Neil Young... "There is a town in North Ontario, all of my changes were there" Omemee (O-me-me) Ontario, Canada... 😍

I was just listening to his song “Southern Man” yesterday. I’m so glad you found Harvest Moon, another great song from that album is “War of Man,” it’s got quiet and soulful parts, and bouncing back between them, but it’s very haunting. Happy Monday Diane.

Epic genius. Was part of Crosby, Stills and Nash. Huge catalogue. He’s now married to Daryl Hannah. Beautiful couple and I was lucky enough to attend their wedding. Good choice for music this week. ❣️

Actually, was part of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, for two years. CS&N formed a couple years earlier, and continued after Young departed.

Wow I think I recommended this song some time ago 😇 How glad you enjoyed it! There is also the rock and roll side of Neil, which can get a bit weirder than this (his almost out-of-tune singing is not for everyone), but great too. Songs like "Powderfinger" or "Like a Hurricane". He also did a rocky version of "On Broadway", the song from All That Jazz. So many records, he's a teasure trove really. With Joni Mitchell -one of the greatest singer-songwriters ever- you can pick any song of her early album Blue, very much in the same vein as "Harvest Moon" but twenty years earlier. Try her early Seventies stuff before moving on to the later stuff, which is more jazzy and experimental.

Hello, and Happy Monday, Diane and Chewie. Neil Young had a song called Southern Man, in which he made a bit of a slander against the South. Lynyrd Skynyrd then responded with a line in the song Sweet Home Alabama. The line in the song was, well I hope Neil Young will remember a Southern man don’t need him around anyhow! However, lead singer of Lynyrd Skynyrd Ronnie Van Zandt, was wearing a Neil Young shirt not long before the plane crash that killed several members of Lynyrd Skynyrd. So I guess they made amends before the tragic plane crash, which was good.

Neil said he had heard the song multiple times, and liked it, and after about a dozen times or so he said, "Wait--they're singing about me!" But, he added, "I'd rather listen to Sweet Home Alabama than Southern Man any day." He actually became friends with Ronnie Van Zandt.
