If you are going to listen to The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia you really need to listen to it (perhaps live) before watching the video. The song has a story and if you watch the music video, it's like a mini movie so it is very easy to miss the important part of the story in the song. The video is great, but it is best when you already know the story in the song.

GOAT! Mama turned her out to be an 'escort' since she was sick and had no money to take care of her and the baby. She was set on a path to 'service' men so she wouldn't starve and wound up with the right man who gave her wealth and position and fame. She's coming to grips with her beginnings. The sign at the end is how she will give back into her community now that she has money. Side note: Coat of Many Colors is Dolly Parton. Also mega-superstar! Try, "Does He Love You," with Linda Davis. The video. Reba has a deep, deep catalog and is an amazing human being as well as singer! She is also Kelly Clarkson's ex-mother-in-law (ish). Lol. She was Kelly's husband's stepmother, I think. Something like that!

This song never fails to bring tears to my eyes. I remember listening to it growing up not really understanding it's meaning but as an adult, purely emotional. We Georgia girls are tough and always land on our feet😉 One of the best female country artists of all time.🐐

the story of Fancy is that she was poor, her mother was sick and she found a way to try and get her daughter out of there and in to a better life.... the sign was announcing the new site for a runaway shelter on her old homestead and it was dedicated to her mother Reba is indeed a Country Music Queen and Icon!! This is actually a remake of the song, which was written and performed originally in 1969 by singer/songwriter Bobbie Gentry and was a massive hit at the time. You should also hear Bobbie's song "Ode to Billy Joe," which was her first hit. Reba did an excellent job here. It's hard to take an iconic song and make your version of it just as much of a hit as it was originally.

I met her a few years ago at the medical facility in Denison, Texas, she founded. Our Bagpipe band played for her. She is a beautiful, classy lady. The last of the true COUNTRY music female artist. The ones coming out today cannot hold her coat for her.

Reba's videos for her songs were always like mini-movies. She has done Broadway, starred in movies, and had her own sitcom called...Reba! She is a GOAT. Another video that is movie like and is a mix of two greats....Reba and Vince Gill did a duet called The Heart Won't Lie and their voices blend beautifully.

Don't ever mess with REBA... she is REBA.. the best.. Saw her again 2 summers ago at my Delaware State Fair... she rocked it again and when she does this song.. just amazing. I think I've seen her live 3 or 4 times.. but she always brings it. It was over 100 degrees.. I didn't even want to be in the stands.. (but it was Reba).. she never missed a beat.

The line about "pouring his tea" was a big deal because so many thought she was saying "pulling his teat" and were so offended by it. I tried so hard to correct this but no one wanted to hear it; their version fit their way of thinking.

But since you're on the Reba topic, you should watch her show from 2001-2006 literally called "Reba" it a great hoot 😂 One of the best sitcoms, it's 6 seasons long but it's pretty hilarious. Reba indeed put her stamp on the song Fancy as well as another song The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia. Be sure to check out Reba's video for that one too. Both are story telling songs that she does so well. I wanted to add that these two songs are actually covers. Singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry wrote and recorded Fancy in 1970. Actress-singer Vickie Lawrence recorded The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia in 1973.

Reba is my favorite country singer by far, not only is she amazing at singing but the videos that she creates are almost all movie worthy! Since this song came out I have often wished they would make a movie of it. It's so hard to say what my favorite songs by her are but two that come to mind at this moment are The heart won't lie with Vince Gill and Somebody should leave. But there is a huge rabbit hole you can jump into with this one, she is just amazing! Voice, acting, work ethic and just an all around wonderful person. I've even read her book which is how I found out what rocky mountain oysters were lol never heard of them before reading that.

Reba has a long and glorious catalog. I have yet to encounter a bad song in it. I could list songs for days, but one of my favorites is "Consider Me Gone". Also her duet with Vince Gill "The Heart Won't Lie" is fantastic. So many more amazing songs and collaborations... Her duet with Brooks and Dunn "If You See Him/If You See Her", and with Linda Davis "Does He Love You" (recently remade by Reba dueting with Dolly Parton).

Kept waiting for his facial reaction when he got what Mama "turning her out" meant. I'm not convinced he figured it out though. Mama dressed her up so she could be a "lady of the evening" to survive. She charmed a bunch of rich men and found her way to a lot of money. In the end, she was telling her Mama that she understood....basically forgiving her for doing it.

Yes, she acts. She had her show called Reba. She was also in the first Tremors movie. She was also Kelly Clarkson's mother -in-law. Reba's ex-husband and Kelly Clarkson's ex-husband are father and son.
