Wow - I'm astonished that you were able to play the actual video. Garth is VERY protective of his music - and there is not a lot of his authentic music left to find on Utube. Many many COVERS of his music - but mot much of Garth yet. His very best are The Dance, Friends in Low Places (only the concert version has the infamous THIRD verse), Papa Loved Mama, Shameless, and Aint Going Down til the Sun Comes Up. But there is a 30 years rabbit hole to go down. Have fun!!!

Ikr. This is the first time I've seen the official video being reacted to. Everyone else had covers thinking that was Garth singing. I'll add The River, The Red Stroke, and Standing Outside the Fire for consideration. It will probably be easier to find concert footage over an official video tho.

Saw Garth in concert many years ago. My husband became a huge country fan after that. He owns almost everything Garth ever released. Made this country music loving girl very happy.

I remember when the song and video came out. What an absolute sh*t storm it caused! How dare he sing about domestic violence! MTV would only play it "after hours". Omg the pearl clutching was crazy! People saying country music ain't based don't know REAL country music. Garth is and always will be the real deal.

The video is about a man beating his wife. That thing he said about raising awareness is a lie. He invented it as a pathetic excuse. If it were the case where was the hotline number? I have more talent than he does. I just didn't have my daddy's money to buy myself a recording contract.

Live in concert, there would be rain on the stage for this song. So many great songs. I don't think you will regret opening the Garth Brooks box. The Dance is amazing as is If Tomorrow Never Comes. And for something really upbeat and loads of fun, go for Ain't Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up.

This video was originally banned from television for depicting domestic abuse and then the wife shooting him. Also that was Garth Brooks playing the husband in the video.

The Dance is definitely my favorite after this one. It's heartbreaking til the end, then a massive Aww moment. His voice is stellar no matter what he's singing though, so you can't really choose 'wrong'!

Garth Brooks' made me fall in love with country music and his music changed the direction of my life and I'm not being dramatic. I saw him in concert in the 90s. He did 5 shows in one city. He was that big. You would like "Aint Going Down Til the Sun Comes Up" and "Callin Baton Rouge". He recorded his Live album that tour too.

The fact that you found the official video astonishes me!! I wish you got to see the one with the banned third verse. I saw it when I was younger before they took it off tv. If you're lucky enough to find the official one, the Beaches Of Cheyenne song is amazing too!! Also Martina McBride's song Independence Day. The video is hard to watch, but I still recommend it! Oh, also Reba McEntire's song with the music video The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia!

If I recall correctly, when this video first came out CMT (Country Music Television) refused to show it at first. So the video actually debuted on VH1 who publicly called out CMT's refusal to show it.

The abusive husband is played by Garth Brooks. There's another verse and video to match. CMT and GAC refused to play it. It was considered very scandalous. The video used to be very hard to find. If you find any of his live music you'll hear the third verse. There is also another verse to Friends In Low Places, which is another great. He has over 20 #1 hits, sold more records than the beatles. @@ABtheKreator Since this is music video, it would behoove you to watch it while he's singing. Little things are shown that you will be going, "why'd he do that?" "why is this happening" Because if we answer, we have no assurance you will read our comments. Aside from that your being introduced to the best live country star. Many of his songs are classics back when he burst on the music scene he was selling out arenas and stadiums. He is hugely charismatic sings a great song.

I saw Garth perform this in the early 90s at Country Thunder. There was a thunderstorm and right when he sang "and the lightning strikes," a huge thunderbolt struck and the thunder did roll. It was awesome.

THE MAN of country! I heard he even out-sold the Beatles (don’t know that for sure, but it wouldn’t surprise me). I had the privilege of seeing him at a live concert …. Good Lord, the energy and entertainment! When he did THIS song, the audience drummed their feet at “thunder rolls” breaks, and the entire Civic Center shook and growled like thunder. You have to listen to more. I would recommend just about anything, but “Rodeo” and “The Dance” are two of my favorites, but you MUST have heard “Friends in Low Places”. Sadly, (for his fans), he retired and now devotes his time to his family life. Married to Trisha Yearwood, who can blame him. Occasionally you can catch a glimpse of him on her cooking show, but no singing.

He's bad ass. I went to his concert oct '93 in Fargo. There was a bomb threat. He offered refunds to those that wanted, but gave an awesome concert to those that stayed.

I waited in line for tickets to his show one year .. they started w three concerts that sold out in 3 minutes .. he added two more so he could get as many fans as possible .. I got tickets in the top top and he se was still amazing !! He sold those out in three minutes too !! It was crazy .. he’s just the one !! He’s the MJ of country .. The Elvis of country .. the Michael Jordan is country .. sorry AB I can’t stop telling u things
