This is the story of Screech in the lead up to confronting Jenny. Ren played out short teaser video's prior to the release of screech's tale, it was so realistic he almost had his instagram account closed. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eK9zqb1yuJeqgmQ.html

Brother, I've grown to respect your reactions. Ren has done something that i wasn't sure could happen. Ren is loved by rappers and punks. He is respected by old dudes and young girls, and everyone in between. I've never seen someone so easily accepted almost universally. There's only one mountain left to climb for Ren since the viewership is nearly unanimous. The powers that be that control distribution. Sony rejected him years ago because of undiagnosed Lyme's disease. Let's see if ren can destroy that unthinkable obstacle, despite no help from Sony, Capital, def jam, Emi, Island, or Motown. Let's watch ren give them the unashamed middle finger to them all, where we can watch them all scury to find the next ren, only to find he was already in one of their greedy corporate pockets and that they stupidly let him walk a free man

I absolutely agree. They created a monster 😼 And he will have complete support from an insanely broad demographic. Ren will be in a position of strength if and when he wants to negotiate offers with labels. Or he might want to stay independent for a while and do a more stripped down distribution deal. I suspect he will want to maintain creative control and allow flexibility for any obligations until his health stabilizes.

I agree. He came to change the paradigm of music. Artists when they sign for a big label, they become puppets of the industry and they loose tjeir creative power. this is a era of change and Ren embodies what music should be : Union. Not a fight between music styles and artists. Ren's talent speaks for it self. Ppl are craving for what is Real and real deep msgs in music and Ren does it perfectly. Now it's up to us to support Ren and other Independent artists. We are all part of the change and I am excited about it! 💫

Now I bet Sony is questioning why they didn't pay to send him to the best doctors 10 years ago. They were sitting on a gold mine, but too shortsighted and lazy to pick up a shovel and dig.

In one of Ren’s interviews, maybe Knox Hill?, he made it very clear that Sony did NOT do him dirty. His illness caused him to be unable to keep up his end of the contract and they let it run out and didn’t renew and he was fine with it and understood.

🔥🔥🔥 Ren is unreal. Such a powerful storyteller and musician. This could easily be a stage production. He captured the cycles of generational trauma so well 😿 And yes, you caught it - Jenny was silent and froze in the face of violence just like her mother Violet … Screech couldn’t control his violent outbursts just like his father Stevie. Violet went from an abusive father to an abusive boyfriend, which is tragic, but isn’t unusual. And as you listen to it again, you realize that Jenny was only 14 years old, walking the streets alone at night in high heeled shoes 😕 So both Jenny and Screech were left to take care of themselves. It’s also safe to assume that it wasn’t a coincidence that Patrick wasn’t home and Screech’s girlfriend was “busy.” It makes you wonder what would have happened if they had been able to grow up together. Or would their destinies still have tragic outcomes due to an abusive upbringing? Ultimate bardcore tragedy 🎭 I loved the guitar and the use of the different settings that changed the acoustics. My favorite was when he went into the stairwell during Violet’s Tale. Ren and his film buddy Sam are geniuses. This one becomes even more powerful when you watch it again. I’m so glad Ren is blowing up! More people need to see his artistry.
@rbbea

Ren said that what he was trying to get at was that we should have compassion for each other no matter who we are, for both Jenny and Screech. They came from the same source yet were so very different. Jenny silent and scared, Screech violent and angry, but also scared in a way.
@GarnetJ
@GarnetJ Жыл бұрын
@@rbbea yeah, I loved the poem Ren read at the live performance of the trilogy: There is this lie that we have either Yin or Yang. We are neither, and we are both. We are Apollo, and we are Dionysus. We are Jesus, and we are Judas. We are the healing hands of Mother Theresa, and we are the poisonous tongue of Adolph Hitler. We do not solely walk a path of good, nor do we tread a path of evil. We simply walk. And if we choose to rain down judgment based on some self-inflated moral code, We forget that we are but a few decisions or a few mistakes away from becoming demons. Or we’re a few good deeds away from becoming angels. Our actions cannot be placed into black and white boxes. For there is beauty within destruction, And there is ugliness within perfection.

I get frustrated with some reactions when they miss the line "he swung possessed with the devil in his chest"....missing that he killed her. It's surprising how many actually miss that, some never catch it, even through the whole story. Thank You for not being one of them. Also, for "Screech's Tale", it seems that almost no one catches that Screech's girlfriend and his friend Patrick, happen to be "busy", or not available, at the same time. Consider why. Maybe they were together? Patrick wasn't home...was he with Screech's girl at her place and that's why she was "busy"? It adds a whole other layer to the story. Also consider that Jenny and Screech were born side by side, and essentially died side by side, one street apart. Born on the same day (2005), died on the same day (2019). An entire family, mother and twins that never knew each other, wiped out by a cycle of violence. An abused mother, a 14 year old prostitute, and a 14 year old thug/murderer. Powerful stuff. Not sure if you caught it or not, but he did all 3 songs in a single take each, just like "Hi Ren". In "Violet's Tale", the way he uses the acoustics of his environment to accentuate the song is absolute brilliance. The man is truly special.
@Shiroar
@Shiroar Жыл бұрын
I saw someone not only miss the blade being swung, but also how she had clocked out like Big Ben and that Screech says he thinks he killed her… the final straw that made me stop watching was that they said both Jenny’s and Screech’s tales ended on cliffhangers. I just couldn’t continue and see them be lost on Violet’s Tale too 🤦‍♀️

And that Ren is not just rewinding in Violet's Tale. He also plays forward...
@FusedAndLovingIt

Also the foreshadowing that Stevie is Screech's father. He ends that line in violence, whoops, I mean Violet's Tale"-and Stevie was a PRICK"-with a screech. And Screech himself is always screeching which is how he got his nickname... Like father like son. Jenny was silent and still as a statue... Like mother like daughter.
@aimeeparrott9204
@aimeeparrott9204 Жыл бұрын
The thing that I think almost everybody misses is what it means when he says, "Every night he'd tuck her tight but never left the room." Most people don't clock to what's going on until the next line.

Ren is an amazing talent and never afraid to focus in on stories of the human condition, he high lights the plight of silent untold truths we are all aware of but shy away from confronting. Loved loved loved your reaction and the fact that you understood the connections between Violet (who grew up with violent starts) generational violence. REN is genius and I think you should checkout another 3part song called I love music and the 2 part song called money game. REN also has killer duets with Sam Tompkins and Chinchilla live busking and with his former band The Big Push also live busking I shot the sheriff/road to Zion/hip hop and Nina Simone’s Wade In the water/Trouble So Hard. They also have original music, Sweet little Lady, Watch Out. Believe it or not there is so much more music that he has created including his songs where he raps. He has a tremendous sing voice, play piano, drums, guitar acoustic and electric as well as base. Keep going down the REN rabbit hole

Agree with the ranking. I don't think it's a popular opinion, and they're both of such quality, I'd never argue either way with anyone who rates one above the other, but for me, while Hi Ren is his most important work - the thing that has rightfully grabbed everyone's attention, touched everyone on so many levels and finally brought him the notoriety he deserves - The Tales is his magnum opus: a piece of art that stands as an exemplar of artistic expression for an entire generation and beyond. The Tale of Jenny & Screech should be taught in schools: music class; drama class; social studies; film school. If you're not doing it to this level, you can only ever be second best.

You're right. We all think this is # Award Winning Stuff # A real Masterpiece by a modern Bard. {*and let's not forget the brilliant Cameraman as well} Ren brings us right into the frame as if we are standing right there as 'witnesses'. When he sings; "It's such a shame" he's using irony to spotlight the types of bland meaningless comments so many make when they hear such shocking stories on the news. And then flick away and it's gone from their minds in the never-ending 15 second sound-byte news cycle. Onto the next & 'nothing to do with me'. Not here. Ren makes sure we CARE. As in all Great Art the story stays with us long after the performance. We rush to share it with others. What he's really saying/ asking is; We KNOW the highly predictable pathways that turn Innocents like Jenny & Screech into victims and/or perpetrators. Why aren't we doing more to stop these tragedies? It's NOT all about genetics. Yes. this provides traits, and tendencies, but a stable warm caring upbringing would have made ALL the Difference. A loving Foster or Adoptive home where Jenny might have developed the confidence and self worth to assert herself (and look after herself -so she wasn't out late in rough areas!) and Screech would have had good role models about managing emotions, respecting others, and felt safe ( so he didn't need to puff himself up -at 14 - into a 'Big Touch Street Guy' who carried a Blade ...)
