Roy Ayers is and has always been straight dope. I had a chance to see him my Sophomore year of college at Kent State in the 80’s. He is a Vibrophonist/Producer/Composer now about 80 years old and STILL doing his thing. He is an important part of America’s musical heritage, whether we all actually know it or not. Great find, lil’ Kings! Keep digging, our heritage is sooo rich!

YES! Great suggestion! ISLEY BROTHERS STILL making music after 60 years - saw them live 2 years ago! That's a Seals and Croft song, but the Isleys version is the BEST - 100% soulful and that guitar solo is one of the best ever! I put that one on repeat for hours.

I agree! Kool and the Gang Summer Madness is a summertime anthem and a must listen for these guys. Lonnie Liston Smith’s Vision for a New World is a summertime masterpiece. It captures the whole vibe of chilling out with friends, drink in your hand, BBQ’s, watching the sunset by the beach. Roy Ayers Third Eye, You Send Me, Searching, & Keep On Walking are all in that same vein. Last but not least, Ramsey Lewis/EWF Sun Goddess!

I agree. When i was a kid i used to tell people i really only listen to hip hop. But truthfully i listened to other stuff i just said that cuz back then in my experience most people that said they listened to "everything" really just listened to pop music lol. But those who truly listen to a variety of music are doing a good thing.
