Art Garfunkel has one of the most eerily beautiful voices that has never been matched in the 50 years since this song was released. He is by far the most underrated singer ever.

Paul Simon wrote this song, words and music, and all their songs. Both Simon and Garfunkel sing but Art Garfunkel is lead singer here. Art has the wonderful high pitched voice. Paul Simon is one of the greatest song writers of the modern era, 1960s to today. You could react to a different Paul Simon song each hour for a week and not find a bad song (either with Garfunkel or later as a solo artist). They have so many great songs, but here's a few just from the time Simon and Garfunkel were together: America, Sounds of Silence, The Boxer, Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme, Mrs Robinson, Homeward Bound and many more great tunes.

Paul wrote this song specifically for Art to sing. There’s a fantastic documentary about the two of them making not only this song but a few others like The Boxer.....a good watch if you get a chance to view it! 😁👍😘

Art sings the first verse and Paul does the second. They start the third verse together, with Art finishing up alone.

I believe Art sang the first two by himself and they sang in harmony during the third verse. There’s a great documentary on You Tube on the making of this song.

@@dawnt5487 I couldn't find any information that addressed who sang what verses on the studio recording. I'm a professional musician myself, and I admit I relied on my ear alone to reach my conclusion. At that stage of their careers, their voices were quite similar, but still distinguishable. Paul's was just a little heavier, and he managed the "break" in the voice more roughly than Art. Those characteristics have always convinced me that Paul did the 2nd verse alone. That being said, I wouldn't bet the house on it.

@@ralphficker167 there’s a really great documentary on You Tube on the making on both Bridge over Troubled Water the single and a longer one that discusses the making of the album. It’s worth watching the process they along with Roy Halle used to create such masterpieces.
