You're listening to a little musical revolution here. When people first heard this it was widely seen that The Beach Boys had achieved the near-impossible, in techniques and innovations in recording, and in the richly ambitious and complex arrangement. I find it stunning every time I hear it. It's a bona fide masterpiece worthy of genuine awe.

They did not invent harmony but they took it to the nth degree. The genius behind the band is Brian Wilson. One of the three Wilson brothers that make up the group

You really should dig deep into their catalog and start with their early stuff. They sang a lot about surfing, girls and cars. Surfin' USA 1962, Catch a Wave 1963, Fun Fun Fun 1964, Help Me Rhonda 1965, I Get Around 1964, Little Deuce Coupe 1963, Little Honda 1964, Shut Down 1963, Surfer girl 1963, Surfin, 1962 and God Only Knows 1966 ..... Paul McCartney of The Beatles has said that God Only Knows is his all time favorite song.

I grew up with The Beach Boy's music & had a lot of their records. Brian Wilson was the genius songwriter of the group. They span many decades but I love their early stuff from the 60's-70's. Their music conveys such happy innocent days of youth (surfing, cars, romance). They had tons of hits such as "Surfin' U.S.A.", "Surfin' Safari", "I Get Around", "California Girls", "Help Me, Rhonda", "Barbara Ann", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Sloop John B.", "Fun Fun Fun", "Little Deuce Coupe", "God Only Knows", "In My Room" etc.

The Beach Boys consisted of 3 brothers, a cousin and a friend from high school. That's why their harmonies sound so good. Beach Boys: Brian Wilson (the musical genius), Dennis Wilson (drums), Carl Wilson (guitar), Mike Love their cousin (lead vocals), Al Jardine (guitar). Dennis Wilson died in 1983. On December 28, three weeks after his 39th birthday, Dennis drowned at Marina Del Rey after drinking all day and then diving in the afternoon to recover his ex-wife's belongings, previously thrown overboard at the marina from his yacht three years earlier amidst their divorce.

This song and album are recorded music legend, actually. This time in the 60s there were a lot of advancements, in particular in multitrack recording and The Beach Boys with their albume Pet Shop Boys and The Beatles.with Rubber Soul were starting down a very experimental time in music. This song took months to record using over 90 hours of tape and many, many studio musicians. It's fire, but it's also historical. Definitely hit up God Only Knows. One of the best love.songs ever,.another Beach Boys classic. Great reaction!

The Beach Boys are from and grew up in Hawthorne CA. They started in 1962. This song is from 1966 so it's later Beach Boys getting into the late 60's groovy vibes of the time. They're earlier songs are very different. Their house was torn down to build a new fwy. Also the house that Metallica lived in and hung out in Norwalk CA was also torn down for that same fwy.

Like Bob Marley, Stevie Wonder, and most African music, Beach Boys are MADE for beautiful, sunny, warm, breezy afternoons when you’re feeling great and life is beautiful 🥰 Now don’t run away when I suggest😉 4 Beatles tracks. Most who don’t really know them think they’re only the earliest: 1964-1966. But they completely switched everything up and wrote and played EVERYTHING. You liked Peter Gabriel and Talking Heads and Beach Boys: I promise these will blow your fkg mind - and talk about PRODUCTION! Truly no one was better, each track a masterpiece. 1: Oh Darling 2: She’s So Heavy 3: Helter Skelter 4: Dear Prudence

Due to my sister being older, grew up on The Beach Boys. One of the greatest bands, ever. Back then they had very little help with tracks and vocalizers, it was all them. They are all good, but if you want a great beach song, California Girls. David Lee Roth's (Van Halen) cover music video was better, but California Girls is great. It makes me smile knowing and seeing young people enjoying their music. The Beach Boys will never be replaced or ever come around again. Reason why I liked them so much, Cars, Girls and the Beach. WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?

Funny you should mention Christmas. At Christmas in 1966 Mamaw placed a dollar bill on tree for each of us kids. I took mine and the day after Christmas walked down to the Ben Franklin (AKA Five and Dime Store). Back then kids were allowed to go everywhere by ourselves. The store had a record bin with 45s and I spent that dollar on my first ever record- Good Vibrations. I was in fourth grade. I have always been kind of proud my first ever was such a classic.

Any beach boys is great I have a question for you; do you want your mind blown? Imagine it’s 1976, phones still have cords, there are no personal computers, no software your smartphone has more computing power than NASA at that time. And out of Tom Scholz basement comes a sound that only one band has and no one knows how he got it off a 12 track analog recorder and some readily available equipment. Go back in time to 1976 and check out Boston name of the tune Foreplay/Longtime from there you’ll download the album on your phone no filler just killer music beginning to end

@doomhunter697
@doomhunter697 Жыл бұрын
No, it is not a Theremin. Its a Tannerin, invented by Paul Tanner of the Glenn Miller band, who played it for this. (I'd include link, but youtube doesn't like it. Just google it.)
@clemson1889
@clemson1889 Жыл бұрын
A Tannerin is an Electro-Theremin. Dr. Paul Tanner was a special guest on a beautiful evening at the “Museum of Making Music” in the City of Carlsbad, California. This was one of the rare moments when he shared his early days of using what was referred to as “Paul’s Box “. Today most of you know it as the Electro-Theremin or Tannerin. Dr. Tanner is most recognized for his many years of trombone playing in the Glenn Miller Band and his teaching of music. He has taught over 75,000 students music and jazz in his 23 year career at UCLA. Dr. Paul Tanner built only one copy of his original theremin box. With just a few days of construction and a very minimal amount of electronic knowledge, he completed it hours before it was called into use. Dr. Tanner’s recollection of his relationship with Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys in the early ‘60s highlighted the evening, both of their geniuses and humor were revealed. The Beach Boys hired Paul Tanner and “Paul’s Box” for the fascinating theremin like sound in “Good Vibrations”. The normal recording session usually began after midnight at Brian's home.
