I grew up with this great Canadian band. Some of their hits are "American Woman", "Laughing", "No Time", "Undun", "Hand Me Down World", "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature", "Share The Land", "Bus Driver", "Star Baby", "Albert Flasher", "Rain Dance" etc. Burton Cummings has one of the best voices out there. Randy Bachman later left to form (BTO) Bachman Turner Overdrive & had many hits. And Burton Cummings had a great solo career with lots of great songs.

when I look at Burton Cummings' facial features, his dark hair, his dark eyes, his cleft in his chin, he reminds me of a North American Indian, which I love his look, plus, plus, when I 'listen' to his voice, it's like the voice of a Mighty Angel, with a Voice that can shake the highest Mountains and make the Earth tremble!!! haaahaa, I love that guy so much!!! The guy playing guitar on the right is Randy Bachman who co-wrote this song. He went on to form the band Bachman Turner Overdrive (aka BTO). BTO has lots of songs I know you will enjoy. There are many to choose from but I'd like you to start off with "Roll On Down The Highway" - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grqKiMp_utjOpYE.html

As the Guess Who many hits are listed here. Most of those songs are written by Randy Bachman, lead guitarist. After they broke up he formed BTO Bachman Turner Overdrive, and they had many more, not that Burton Cummings didn't have a great solo career, but BTO had Takin' Care of Business, You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet, Let It Ride and many others. They also rock! TCB was a monster hit. It got into the spoken language for a very long time. As in, " Hey man, whatcha doing?" "TCB man TCB."

Great band. Glad you choose this rabbit hole Shon, it's deep. Burton Cummings and Randy Bachman were the 2 really behind the band that formed way back in 1965. Burton joined in 1966. I'd suggest "No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature" combo next. Both Burton and Randy had great carreers after leaving the Guess Who. Burton as a solo artist and Randy formed 'Brave Belt' then 'B.T.O.', then 'Ironhorse' and back to the Guess Who and BTO. Early in 2023, Bachman and Cummings sent multiple cease-and-desist letters to the current Guess Who, accusing the cover band of misleading the public, I don't think this is resolved yet. Bachman and Cummings are seeking $20 million in damages.

That bass just rolls through the song like a bluesy hug. I get lost in Jim Kale's rhythmic note spacing. If you haven't focused on listening to Kale's playing in Guess Who songs, and that is easy to do considering Burton's vocals and Randy's guitar riffs, try it. His descending bass riff in No Sugar Tonight (at the end of the first verse) still gives me desk pounding goosebumps 50 years later.

It is such a pleasure watching you react to songs, and the reason is because you see the talent, brilliance, skill, in songs, vocal ability, instrumentation, and the power these songs have. It is truly amazing that someone as young as you are, can see and appreciate and articulate the beauty of these artists and bands. There’s nothing worse than to watch a reactor react to a song and the brilliance of the song has gone over their head. It’s such a let down when they can’t see it. But that’s never the case with you. Even little subtleties, whether it’s a horn, or drum, or vocal ability, you consistently pick up on. And even stop the song to showcase that moment of brilliance. This is why you are my go to reactor. Thank God.

My favorite song of theirs is, "AMERICAN WOMAN," which which was created unintentionally when Bachman sat on a live stage and created a riff on the guitar unintentionally in front of the audience because he had a broken string repair. The crowd loved it, and Cummings herd Bachman playing the riff, so he came out on stage and began sing a bunch of unintelligible lyrics to the riff and the crowd loved it the song. They could not recreate the song later because it was off the cuff and not rehearsed. Supposedly some kid in the crowd was recording a bootleg copy of the song in the crowd and their band manager found out about the kid recording it and tracked him down so The Guess Who could repeat the and record the song later. Otherwise American Woman would never have become a hit. Their most notable hit.
