The thing about the Beatles a lot of their song are still killer today. 60 years later.

Pure genius! You have to understand that this is circa 1965-66. No one was doing anything like this. Too sophisticated for a bunch of twenty-somethings.

If you think of it, this is a simple song. But that is the genius of the Beatles. They made great songs that were catchy and timeless.

When you said about listening to The Beatles through the decades; they only recorded music until 1970, when they split up. They just progressed musically and artistically at an alarming rate.

When this first came out, I called a radio station and requested they play it many times. More times than for any other song: that's how much I loved it!

No such thing as too much Beatles, lol! Fun fact: this was Frank Zappa's favourite Beatles song. Released as a single with "Rain" as the flip side... so much fun for 79 cents

Stan-how did you pick that out so quickly about the typewriter sound with the drums! Amazing! I had to see that in a video ABOUT this song, and you got that right away! I am mightily impressed! And the vocals-this is my favorite part of this song! I have never heard vocals like this song either before or since! And, no, I highly doubt you're going to make ANYONE mad by doing Beatles reactions! They are just that universal. Would like input on your play list, but, I, for one, will never be mad at your for reacting to the BEATLES???!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???!!!

This is Paul's second Hofn̈er bass. This is not the stolen bass. His first bass was missing for 50 years. You can tell them apart by the placement of the pickups.

I had 3 older brothers and grew up on the Beatles. When the movie Help came out as a movie. I was so excited and then was so disappointed that all the girls were standing on their seats so I couldn't see. They were screaming so loud that I couldn't hear anything. I remember being so upset. 😢 Just Another Day was a favorite of mine .

Hey, Stan. I love your Beatles reactions. ✌️ But I do need to set you straight on one important point. You mentioned that you knew their music had changed "through the decades." But their recording career lasted less than eight years (1962-1970)! Yes, their music definitely evolved in remarkable ways over that stretch. But the time frame was extremely condensed. This makes their amazing output of 13 albums, with all of their diversity, a truly remarkable feat. 😁🎸

As someone who was lucky enough to be watching the Ed Sullivan Show to see magic happen on 2/9/64, I love seeing young people continue to appreciate the once in a millennium cosmic explosion that was John, Paul, George and Ringo. Since nothing like the Beatles has ever happened up to this point in entertainment history, it may not be unreasonable to think it may never happen again. By the way, Paul had been involved in a motor bike/cycle/scooter accident just before this video and you can see a damaged tooth.

This was released as a the A side single, never appearing on a studio album. The B side was “Rain” and is a must listen! Back in the day record producers preferred songs to be three minutes or less, 3 1/2 minutes was about the limit for them as they considered anything longer not “radio friendly” 🙄. But, that gives you the perfect reason to listen to it over and over 😁
@DJBilodeau5 ай бұрын
This is before your time Stan, but when this music came out, they had records. And specifically, if you didn't want to buy a full album, you would buy "45's", small records that were played at 45 RPM's, hence the name "45's" And these little records where the vehicles that bands would release their singles on. You just played the "A" side of the single with Paul singing the lead with John and George doing the backing vocals. The "B" side of this single is my suggestion for you for your next song by the Beatles, "Rain" in which John sings the lead. As good as "Paperback Writer" is, "Rain" will completely blow you away. The big challenge for you, as you well know is the Beatles songs are notorious for being blocked, as you well know. But I say you go for it, and good luck to you for getting it through!

One of my favorite Beatles songs. I've always loved the crunch of the guitars and Paul's bass line. I feel sorry for Ringo in this video, though. Just has to sit there nodding his head instead of pretending to play drums. 🙂

This song kicked my ass when I first heard it many years ago. I remember too thinking 'who would think to right a song about something so blase (not blaze!) TRIVIA: Paul had spent the first few days of 1966 helping setup the Indica Bookshop, owned by friends. The next single he wrote was Paperback Writer!

The first supergroup and the director can't even manage to get Ringo a drum kit on site, which is ridiculous given his drumming is mimicking an old manual typewriter! And unplugged electric guitars too, so no wonder they look alternately amused and bored by the absurdity of the situation. This is the second example I've noticed of them riffing on a real life sound to inspire their music (Ticket to Ride uses the rhythm of a train over tracks leaving a station and later picking up speed), illustrating the awesome creativity from a band that, not so far back, was simply doing covers in night clubs.
