My favorite Tom Jones performance is still the one with Stevie Wonder, to this day.... :-) Runner up is Sting and Stevie performing "Fragile" at Sting's 50th bday IIRC and I know that's not Tom Jones but I can't think of Tom Jones without Stevie Wonder lol

You must remember that Tom is Welsh. They are famous for their singing. In the era that Tom grew up in nearly every village had its own choir.

Tom Jones is Welsh. He actually had almost no formal voice training before becoming a professional singer. That was extraordinary raw talent. If you'd like to hear/see Tom's more upbeat side, I recommend "She's A Lady," one of his biggest hits. PS Your reactions are both thoughtful and adorable, the latter definitely enhanced by that hat. :-D

Sir Tom, beautiful Welsh vocalist and great performer. One of the world's best in the day and for decades. He's 80 and still going strong. He's been a judge on The Voice UK for many seasons and occasionally breaks out into song when urged by his fellow judges and the audience, more often in a duet with another judge such as Jennifer Hudson. He is from Wales. Sir Thomas Jones Woodward was married to his wife, Lady Linda (born 1941 as Melinda Rose Trenchard) from 2 March 1957 until her death on 10 April 2016.

There is only one Tom Jones !! He is a national treasure here in the UK. 80 years old, still looking good and still belting it out. He was great friends with Elvis Presley, they would often sing together at Elvis's house just for the fun of it........:-)

I have spoken on KZfaq to the Songwriter:Lonnie Donegan's son=Peter and he confirmed he went along with that on The Voice in the duet with Sor Tom but this was not written for Sir Tom as it was written in 1961 and Tom was in The Tommy Scott welsh band then and was known until 1963. But why ruin a good story as Tom made it his own :)

This song was written for Tom by Lonie Donegan, a popular UK singer in his own right. Tom can be seen singing it on 'The Voice' A UK show, with Peter Donegan, Lonies son. In 2020. 53 years after the first one.

Lonnie Donnegan wrote the song for him and Peter Donnegan appeared on the voice as a contestant Lonnies son and they did this as a duet on the Voice UK. Tom was 80 at the time. If you want to see another side of him react to Treat her right. He is a consummate performer who dueted with all the top stars both UK and American during his 60 year career to date.

He was born in Wales and was awarded the OBE in 1998 (I think) and Knights in the UK (so he is now Sir Tom Jones)...he is a judge on the X Factor UK and regularly does impromptu duets with the contestants. He is now 80 years old and his voice is still amazing. Be safe and Enjoy Life..

So nice to see a young person who understands and hears….the ability. I have given many singing lessons. That power….your right. Not sure he needed the microphone. Lol. His texture, vibrato and pitch….spot on. I can get over his voice strength. So very powerful. Not sure I have ever had a student with that power and yet…complete control of it. Wonderful.

Speaking of Tom and Elvis, they became good close friends until Elvis' death in 1977. They met each other when both of them were in Las Vegas doing their shows.

Tom Jones was way way way ahead of his time. If he was a young guy today he would be the god of vocals. Even in the 60s, 70s & 80s he was a stand out vocalist amongst high quality competition.

Imagine if you can, a 10 yr old girl, me, growing up with older parents, there were 9 of us kids and I was towards the bottom of the ladder. 7 boys and 2 girls. Our home was all about Country music. At 10 I already knew the words to so many great ones, I love music always have. So Country was the only influence by ten that I knew. Oldest brother, still lived at home, he bought a new "Color" tv to replace the black and white, but not until after I watched, heard Tom Jones perform this, live on a stage. Mind you again I was 10. The usual night time TV line up after supper, regular watched programs was starting in our living room. As soon as this man started singing, I stopped frozen in what ever I was doing. HAD to listen and watch, and with every moment I felt goose bumps on my neck and arms. To this day I have never forgotten that feeling of amazement, the power which was his, emanate with his voice, his words and his movements. Stunned, I was. Sure there have been numerous singers over the years which I like very well, but not one has ever effected me as Tom Jones did that day. Only one has taken 2nd place to him, Steve Perry. These are not just singers, these are Artists, who have the ability to convey feelings, with every word, and note and freedom of expression that is amazing and hard to match.

There’s a video of the voice uk when Peter Donnegan, son of the legendary Lonnie Donegan Lonnie wrote that song for Tom. Peter and Tom do a duet of it on the Voice UK. Well worth checking out.

Makes you feel like he is singing right to you and that you actually caused his pain. TJ is considered the national treasure of Wales, which is called the country of singers. Tom started singing as a young child and he is a natural, untrained talent. You should Google how much this powerful voice has made him in the last 55+ years...and still makes him when he still does concerts for 80,000 people....amazing is a good word for him.

Your insight to Sir Tom Jones ability to express heartbreak and pain with his incredible voice, and your technical points about mouth and tongue position was so, so impressive. May I ask a favor of you? There is a song and vocal performance I would very much like to see your reaction to. It's called " I Just Can't Cry Anymore " by a group of the seventies, Kansas. Their lead vocalist, Steve Walsh is astonishing! Very much like Tom Jones. Huge voice, absolutely mind blowing range and he sings every song like he's lived it. You would make a new fan very happy. Keep up the great work!!

Sir Tom has been known for decades as one of the greatest performers of all time . Back in the 60's , 70's , and 80's whenever he would do a show , the ladies in the audience would throw their panties onto the stage. Hundreds and hundreds of them !!!!
