I'm gonna give you some advice that many others either will, or have already said. This album (and by extension, a LOT of Pink Floyd albums) should be listened to in their entirety, in running order. This album especially, because each track flows into the next. Picking an epic track like "Time" does you a disservice as a first-time listener. It'd be sort of like opening a book to a random page, and beginning reading 2/3rds down that page. You can understand the words, but they lack context. The entire Dark Side Of The Moon album is only 45 minutes long, and it's 100% pure magic. It's worth the time invested, because it's so beautifully engineered. Even if you don't react on camera to any more tracks on this album, you should absolutely sit in a dark room with the headphones on, close your eyes, and just let it take you on a ride. "Time" - it's all about exactly what you thought. Don't waste a second, because 10 years (or 20, or 30...) gets behind you pretty quick.

This song plays with your sense of time, the rhythm changes and the structure of the song are designed to push you and pull you, back and forth, so that you are so busy trying to keep up, that you don't even realize how much time is passing. Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole. That triangle is a prism, it splits white light into a rainbow. This is going to be your new favorite band. Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest selling albums of all time. Back in the day this was the album we used to test high-end stereo systems. Some have called this the greatest recording ever made. I know you can't do it in a react but the album is designed to be played in its entirety. What a lot of younger listeners don't realize is that back in the days of listening to an LP album, you would get home, open it up and just listen to the whole thing in one go, and bands could use that medium to experiment, play, and do some really unique things without having to worry about every track being a marketable single.

If you look at the lyrics of (Time), keeping in mind previous tracks, (Breathe and On The Run) The first part is about a younger man, "kicking around", wasting his time, with "time to kill today". "Then one day you find 10 years have got behind you" - he never started his dreams, his life. "So you run and you run to catch up with the sun but it's sinking" - trying to make up for lost time, but it's a fruitless effort..."the sun is the same in a relative way but your older" The universe marches on but he's now older, and "one day closer to death". "Every year is getting shorter, never seem to find the time, and plans that either come to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines" - you still have those dreams, those aspirations, but now life seems to interfere or you just can no longer make the effort, and instead merely "hanging on in quiet desperation". "the time is gone, the song is over, thought I'd something more to say" he's now dying and thought he'd leave behind a better legacy than he has, but instead is leaving behind so many things unaccomplished.

JoJo... I've been watching Pink Floyd reactions for going on 3 years now. After reading ALL posts to this reaction (to this point in time), I'll say this much. I agree with my PF family of die-hard fans when they say "don't ever pause during a guitar solo" on PF. Why are so many jumping on you for doing so? That's easy. David Gilmour is one of those GOAT guitarists you talk about. The man can use that guitar of his to stroke, coax, cajole, poke, prod, and even take your soul out of your body and play with it. To us PF fans...he's simply an instrument of God that HE uses to reach our spirit. Wake it up even by giving it a nudge to remind us that it's still there. Simply put.... You slammed the brakes on our "Solo Soul Ride". This was only your first PF song. You'll understand after a few songs. Speaking of which. My fan friends listed the albums of PF, from the early days with band founder Syd Barret, up to their last album "The Endless River". I'm not a fan of the early PF with Syd in the band. He was a little "too far out there" for my tastes. So I am what's considered a post Syd fan. Syd was replaced by David Gilmour (they were really good friends). If you really really want to enjoy PF, I am going to advise you not to do any of the Pink Floyd Live PULSE concert songs from 1994 (chill out fans, I'm not done) until after you have listened to the studio versions first. PF PULSE concert is one of those concerts (double DVD by the way) in which EVERY song on it blows the studio version out of the water with the exception of Great Gig in the Sky. Personally, I can go either way cuz I like both. But just a note to you. The studio version is one singer whereas PULSE took 3 to do what the one did. I would advise doing the Wish You Were Here album (front to back). It's a tribute to former band member Syd. Reaction tip.... Do Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 1 - 5) first reaction (it's a long song) Welcome to the Machine and Have a Cigar in the second reaction video and finally, Wish You Were Here and Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts 6 - 9) in the last video. Have fun with this rabbit hole JoJo!!!

Welcome! Dark Side of the Moon was on the Billboard charts for 15 YEARS (1973-1988). Pink Floyd were into making "concept albums": an album whose tracks hold a larger purpose or meaning collectively than they do individually. 7:22 You can dance to anything you want, Buddy. The guys in Floyd would love it. They just wanted people to enjoy their music, and maybe learn something. Sound like you are doing both. You seem like a good kid. I wasn't. I was a very angry kid, who grew up abused. Pink Floyd's album "The Wall" is effectively one story, the whole way through, and it's about how pain shapes us, and can destroy us. Falling in love with that album literally changed my life and made me a better person. If you want to react to something ambitious, do THE WALL in its entirety. That would be cool. Keep it up, man. This song is about the sudden realisation that life doesn't start when you've broken away on your own and start preparing. Life started years ago and you've spent most of your time preparing for it, not realising that life has been going on all this time. The next song after this, The Great Gig In The Sky, concludes the song's theme of aging through a vocal description of Death.

I've been assuming all these years that the younger generations have heard most of the classics, at least a little bit. But after watching reaction videos, I see that they haven't heard hardly any of the classics. It must be so different and profound.

Pink Floyd started as an Avant Garde experimental band. "Piper at the Gates of Dawn" and "Saucer full of Secrets" pushed the envelope. They (along with Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention) enabled bands like Queen and Jethro Tull. "Several Species of Small Furry Animals etc..." or "Live at Pompei" is how they started. This is a Roger Waters Concept Album, and a great one. I rember liking them all.

Yeah and you're only 18 years old! Imagine how this song hits if you're 30, or 40, or 62 like me. Everybody examines their life after listening to this song. One of the greatest, most relevant songs in the history of rock and roll!

You're having an experience that many people have when listening to Floyd for the first time. Now get your headphones on, turn out the light, close your eyes and listen to the whole of "Dark Side of the Moon" from start to finish, you will then know what Pink Floyd are all about. Then find the "Pulse" live gig from 1994 and listen to "Comfortably Numb" to hear best guitar solo of all time. 😁

Nice reaction, thanks. This is called progressive rock, or prog rock. As far as the meaning, for me: You have to make things happen yourself; don't wait for something or someone to drop an opportunity in your lap, cuz it doesn't happen that way. Any Pink Floyd suggestion is a thumbs up. Looking forward to more.

Glad to hear you’re enjoying your first Pink Floyd song. It is a song about life and how quickly it can go. My brother turned me on to this album in 1974 and it was life changing. It gives you the realization that when you’re young life seems long but before you know it.....you missed the starting gun and ten years have got behind you! When we’re young an hour seems like a day, a day seems like a week, a week seems like a month and a month seems like a year; after 40 a year seems like a month, a month seems like a week, a week seems like a day and a day seems like an hour! Great reaction my friend!!

Love watching your reaction. You hit it on the head when you said that it makes you question your existence. The whole album is about just that. Life, death and the meaning of existence. Listen to it from beginning to end and you'll get the whole message. I am so grateful that I grew up in the greatest era in musical history. Welcome to it young man!

Thank you JOJO you got it and for an 18 year old it is good to remember these words. I'm 63 and now a big fan of yours because you get it. Pink Floyd got me with this album while I was in high school. They are an English rock and soul group and were huge in the 70's.

😂😂😂 You just got Floyd! The deepest rabbit hole in Progressive Rock from the 70's! This track is from the concept album Dark Side of the Moon (graphic is the album sleeve) If you think this track is dope, trust me, do this album in track order, it will blow your socks off! For reference DSotM sold over 45,000,000 units and charted for somewhere over 18 years! It's an absolute masterpiece. You can do random tracks but that's like reading random chapters from a book. Heads up, if you do take a listen, track one is a really short intro to track two and the album and each track transitions into the next!

Your reactions are so good!!! Smooth is a great way to describe PF. That is always how I "felt" their sound. like Led Zeppelin, once you've heard Floyd you can identify their sound right away. I think someone below has mentioned that PF does concept albums and suggested that you listen to an album in track order. They benefitted from the trail blazed by Led Zeppelin with the FM radio market that started in the US - where the new radio genre - FM radio - played longer tracks and full albums versus AM radio that only played singles that were usually less than 3 minute's. They are a fantastic band!! All of their albums are great. This song is from Dark Side of the Moon. The Wall is pretty great too.

the lyrics are deep. it's what they do. that's why you should back it up a couple of clicks when you interrupt so as not to miss anything. Check out "Great Gig in the Sky" the next track on this album.
