I watched your first TOOL reaction literally 2 hours ago and wondered when you would do a next one. You definitely followed with a great pick and my personal favorite. I am really happy you enjoy a band that I personally consider the pinnacle of music. Many of us TOOL fans love seeing other people's reaction for the first time and I am so envious you get to listen to them for the first time ever. And hopefully not for the last time. But honestly... seeing your reaction to Parabol/Parabola... welcome to the TOOL army.

I came across Tool in my early 20's and couldn't understand anything. They were too complex for me and somewhat boring. Haha what an irony! Now in my 40's there isn't band which I could appreciate more! So I am also envious when first listening reaction looks like this...

This ladies and gentlemen is a video showing exactly how a Tool fan is born. It's so great seeing you embrace Tool and realizing the greatness that is this band. Now that you have started to understand what they are capable of. You still have a lot left to understand, but i digress. You should do a reaction to Tool-Pneuma (a live drum cam video). It showcases the absolute beast that is Danny Carey. Like others have said before me I'm jealous of anybody that gets to take this journey for the first time. It's the greatest journey you could ever take with music. Tool is more than music, it is an experience.

You were right in noticing the Fibonacci in the syllables in the verse "Black (1), then (1), white are (2), all I see (3)" etc. Spirals integrated into the words. In my view, one of the cleverest and most profound songs ever written. I'm no expert on time signatures, etc, but I read that the song was originally called 987, which was apparently part of the time signatures of the song - 9/8, 8/8, 7/8... 987 is one of the Fibonacci numbers, and I read that this is what inspired the inclusion of Fibonacci concepts into the song. This song always moves me, deeply. I've listened to it literally hundreds of times, perhaps even over a thousand times (I'm old lol), and it has never lost its impact. Spiral out dude, keep going.

Reaching out to embrace the random. Reaching out to embrace whatever may come. I was going through a really confusing and difficult time in my early 20s when I heard this song and that line. I'm a musician and I enjoy music so much more because of it and it really emotionally triggers me. That line made me freeze up and then the following sequence allowed me to work that out in my brain and when the Bass line started to do the sliding I broke down into tears but for the first time it was the most peace I'd had in years. It was amazing and changed my life in a huge way.

All of Tool’s stuff is open to interpretation, but this album resonates with me as a sort of guide on self-reflection and self-improvement. This song for me is about being open minded and growing as a person. The part you stopped at the end is where it usually gets emotionally overwhelming for me. The lyrics and the music combine in a way I don’t feel in many other songs. You should listen to The Grudge. It’s the opening track and is about letting go of the things that hold us back. It’s an absolute banger.

Yes! This is my favorite song in the world. I've heard this hundreds of times and the guitar riff they go into after the line "....and still be a human" , sends me. I get goosebumps, it feels like the sound is washing over me, like I'm standing in a waterfall of it. Often times I tear up. It's the only music I've ever heard that does that to me. It's an overwhelming experience if I allow myself to be immersed in it. I sound like a crazy tool fan talking about it, but I'm glad I've finally seen someone else mention that moment.

Absolutely LOVE this reaction dude 🤙🏻 listening to Tool my whole life, it’s such a beautiful thing to see someone listen to Tool and react for the first time. They are such an amazing band. Tool just always makes me feel more human when I listen to them; knowing that life is full of struggles and random and you can’t always be in control. Their songs always touches on something so real. To keep this train rolling, I would recommend listening to The Pot, Schism, Sober, and Vicarious. Those tend to be Tools most popular songs, at least on KZfaq. Each one of those songs have a profound meaning, and whether you pick up what they’re saying during the song or not, I would look up the meaning AFTER listening (whether it’s on camera or not). Regardless of what you do, I’ll keep watching your vids, All Love Sebs 🤙🏻❤️

Legit, I teared up...its unavoidable. when energies sync, time has no more relevance. We all connect with Seb energetically as we watch along, and his elation and excitement and emotionality, also, all just frequencies transmitted by the mind, and received, again regardless of time and space, and felt by anyone willing and able to participate, to allow themselves to be vulnerable and to feel real things and be ok with it. I couldn't agree more, this again was one of my favorite Tool reactions in a loonngg time. And I watch a metric ton of them. :0D

You are in for an absolute treat man! Can't wait to witness your journey. My personal favorites are Lateralus, Rosetta Stoned (this one is possibly their most out there and complex song but just incredible), Vicarious (heavy and introspective) and Wings for Marie part 1 & 2 (need to be played together. A song about Maynard's mom who was in a coma for 27 years following a brain aneurysm. A masterpiece) You can't go wrong with any of them really although their early stuff from Undertow and Opiate really aren't as profound as their subsequent albums: Aenima, Lateralus, 10000 days and Fear Inoculum. Enjoy man! 🙏

Just a heads up, you picked 2 of the most uplifting, inspiring, and spiritual songs by Tool, but Maynard has always preached the importance of paying as much attention to the negative as much as the positive, because if you just blindly ignore that negative side of your psyche, it will grow and fester behind your back and be released in unexpected and unpleasant ways. He's clearly a reader of Jungian depth psychology and individuation, as made blatantly clear in the song, 46+2, which talks about the importance of delving into your "shadow-self" as a form of healing and getting further along your path of individuation (integrating archetypes and realizing your true self in Jungian terms)... My point being, don't expect all Tool songs to be this side of them. There are a lot of beautiful, uplifting, and spiritual songs like these, but there are also a lot of very dark, angry, and emotional songs by Tool that's basically their shadow-side (especially with their first 2 albums)... Just wanted to point that out before you listened to "Ticks and Leeches" and go, "THIS is Tool?!"

Tool's music for me was like some sort of an awakening. I was always into philosophy and poetry and arts. Always looking for new experiences and meeting new people. Try to soak up as many possibilities as possible. So when I first encountered tool with the album undertow, I was fascinated by the pureness and rawness of the music and performance back in 92 when I had the unexpected privilege to watched them live at a festival. Something just clicked and opened up a lot of different emotions that evening. Since then I followed their work. And matured along the lines of their journey. It still clicks now with their latest piece of art. I don't consider their work as music but as pieces of emotional art. Nice to see you overwhelmed as well. Have a nice journey!

There are very few bands that touch me like Tool does. If you ever get a chance to listen to another great band I recommend (Alice in Chains)with this band they are better live. I would start with any song from the concert live at The Moore Theatre. They are an epic rock band. Tool is my favorite, Alice in Chains second.

I've seen Tool 4 times. On the 2002 tour I saw them play this live (plus the Trinity and oh man, Can't wait for you to react to those), and toward the end when all the reverb comes in Danney smashes his gong and the whole place just filled up. You had a spiritual experience here? You don't even know! I hope they play this when you see them in January. Quick trivia, someone already brought up the 9/8/7 part, but during that part at the end, the band is in 3/4 and Danney is in 4/4. Called polymeter, according to a drummer that reacted to the live drumcam version. Keep up what you are doing!

Been through this before but this time it's lingering for an absurd amount of time and intensity compared to the other... false positives... Love at its worst is extremely painful 💔

Heck yeah, this song is amazing for so many reasons. I've probably heard it a million times and I think I have a moment every time. I still get goose bumps. I already suggested some others but Pneuma (both studio and the live Danny Carey drum cam) is off their new album and its amazing. Odd time signatures, great lyrics about Spirit (Pneuma), and some badass drums.

Since Tool is it’s own genre already, we should just call it Existential Metal. I’ve been listening to them since 1992/1993 when Opiate came out, and they’re my favorite band, all time. I’m surprised I just now thought of that lol Obviously I’m sure I’m not the first or the only person that’s thought that, but it just hit me when you were talking after the video was over. It needs to be a thing. This is like the third time I’ve watched this video lol I love watching you have the same revelations Tool has inspired in us over the last almost 30 years. 🖤🖤🖤

I just stumbled upon you today. I can't describe to you how the deep appreciation I have for this band. Watching you experience them for the first time is much like when you have a child and watching them experience things for the first time. You literally feel it all over again yourself. Welcome to Tool bud. Enjoy the journey. They are touring right now, I highly suggest catching them live. Every time I've seen them, I leave speechless. Seeing them in January here in Sacramento. I recommend doing a reaction to 10,000 days, Wings for Marie Pt 2. Still makes my eyes leak.

When people make video accounts of psychedlic experiences, there's so much premeditation and expectation involved. Watching Lateralus hitting someone square in their 3rd eye for the first time seems just so spontaneous and genuine. We all love these videos because there's something in the song that penetrates spiritually to a deep level. Even if we can't describe the experience, it somehow magnifies when we witness someone else experiencing it, and know exactly how they're feeling.

Digging your Tool reactions bro. I’ve been a fan since 6th grade (I’m 39 now) and it’s a lot of fun to see people discover them for the first time. So many great songs, but after watching your first couple of reactions, I really think you would enjoy “Right In Two” lyrically and conceptually. After that “AEnema”, “The Pot”, and “Sober” are an absolute must

Loving the TOOL discovery but also the postive vibes. I want to start treadmilling to start my day, even at a low intensity. Thanks dude! How old's your daughter? I'm on my third daughter and two of them were trash sleepers. My 2.5 year old didn't sleep through the night until about 19 months. I'm sure you have tried everything but JUST IN CASE it helps... routine is key. Start a routine, it won't work at first but it WILL take hold. Pretend you are digging an escape tunnel with a spoon, a little bit and consistency gets you there. What finally worked for us was connecting bedtime to right after her bath. Also not going to lie, you haven't heard it yet but she asks to listen to Pneuma (TOOL) every night, she never makes it passed the long interlude in there. Pneuma is part of her programming to go to sleep. All the best to you dude! SPIRAL OUT

I remember getting this album the day it released from Best Buy, I waited in line with all sorts of different types of people. Colors, Races, Ages, Incomes, Religions. I was 17. I remember thinking at the time how awesome it was that great music could bring together so many, and I knew it was something special. “On lookers” just saw a bunch of metal heads, but it was so much more than what you could see from the outside. I got back in my car with the album, and opened the cover art (by the way get a physical copy, you will love it) and the art put my mind in a different place. It sucked me in as I sat in the Best Buy parking lot and listened to this masterpiece cover to cover. Back then it was all about the feeling the music gave me. Fast forward 20 years, now I find my self watching these reaction videos to live that moment vicariously through people like yourself and I watch in in pure delight. Now I have started to look at the lyricism of Maynard and the time signatures on Danny, in great awe and amazement. Thanks for sharing your reaction, it was awesome!

Maynard, Justin, Adam, and even Danny have been known to use certain frequencies and rhythms that are connected to feelings of calm or spiritual awakening to evoke those feelings in the listener. Thats why its so important to listen with good headphones and in a good state of mind in order to recieve their full message.

I think what Tool does is they get their experiences and they wait until they understand what theyve gone through down to a very deep level. So when they make their music, they are expressing the fundamental thing behind their experience which makes the message universal. You dont have to have gone through anything they have gone through to relate to the message. I personally wanted to share this song because of the effect it had on me. When i finally understood the chorus, "over thinking, over analyzing, separates the body from the mind". That hit me in a profound way and was a catalyst for the work that I did to be a more understanding and humble person.

I have always played the music I love to my two daughters, Tool, the white stripes, SOAD, RATM, clutch and so on. They took to it very early on, and now have a strong appreciation for music, try it on your daughters, and whenever I played Tool my moltese terrier would lay in front of the stereo, she certainly knew she liked.
