Michael Jackson's monkey was named Bubbles. Had to look it up cause I thought it was Pebbles. Alien Ant Farm did this cover in the late 90's, very early 2000's. Great interpretation though! Edit: turns out that Bubbles is still alive and is in Florida at the Center for Great Apes.

This song was originally released in 2001. So yes, it was before the pandemic. Something that people tend to forget is that Michael Jackson regularly wore mask in public. The little boy wearing a mask was another nod to Mr. Jackson. At first Mr. Jackson asked that the video be reshot without the mask on the boy and AAF complied. However, after seeing the reshot, Mr. Jackson asked that the original be used.

Bubbles, the lean, kid wearing the mask, lit sidewalk, werewolf mask on girl jumping in the pool, four guys doing the thriller dance, the animal eyes at the end. All a tribute to Mike! Such a cool video and well planned. Love you guys!

I went to see POD wit Alien Ant Farm a long time ago in a small bar here in LA … one of my favorite shows of all time 😂 AAF were so fun .. I remember they stopped one of the songs half way and the singer sees “ I just wanted to ask how everyone is doing .. you all good ? “ 😂 … it was so much fun 😂 I loved it

As somebody who is a huge fucking Michael Jackson fan and also a huge fucking fan of rock and heavy metal, this rendition of this song is a beautiful blend of the two. This song is bad ass as a rock song. And by the way, what a beautiful rendition of this song! This is paying major props to Michael Jackson

Apparently the story behind the kid wearing a mask shredding the moves is that his family didn't want his face to be fully seen in the video so they had him wear the mask. They shot it originally without a mask but his family asked to reshoot his dancing scenes with the mask to protect his identity. This video was shot in 2001

Since you liked this one, maybe check out an original song by them, "These Days." The official video is footage of them crashing the 2003 BET Awards, playing on the roof across the street from the red carpet and features a lot of rap and hip hop artists of the day's reactions. They have pulled similar stunts at a Justin Timberlake concert and the L.A. Pride Parade.

I have always and forever will love MJ...and this song. It doesn't surprise me MJ approved, because they really did him proud. Definitely on the best covers list, because while they made it theirs they still stayed true to the song! That's the mark of a great cover, and it's rare.

The monkeys name was bubbles! And this is probably one of the best tributes to Michael and MIchael loved it and he was the judge in a contest of who danced like him the best! That's where the little boy dancing came from in the video!

Many viewers are to young to remember this, but there were short films (Later shown on TV) called "Our Gang" AKA "The Little Rascals". They were made back in the 1930's. One of the main characters was a boy named "Alfalfa" played by a young actor named Carl Switzer. Anyway the lead singer looks just like "Alfalfa" I'm pretty sure he was going for that look. Goggle a picture of "Alfalfa" from the original "Our Gang" films and you will see what I mean.
