Lovebites has been around since 2016, and the women became more famous worldwide after performing at several major festivals, mainly in Europe, starting in 2018. 2018 - Wacken - Open Air in Germany 2018 - Bloodstock Open Air in England 2019 - Graspop Metal Meeting Festival in Belgium 2019 - Download Festival in Spain In 2020, their career was abruptly interrupted by Corona. But they masterfully overcame the crisis, got married and had babies. In 2021 the founder Miho left the band for personal reasons and it went into a hiatus which lasted until the end of 2022. In the fall of 2022 they found a young fantastic bass player and in 2023 they released a new LP. The new LP reached the 5th place in the Japanese charts. Japan is the 2nd largest music market in the world and it is very rare that in these times a rock band comes so far forward. As you mentioned early in the video, Lovebites play several styles of metal, not just power metal. They have several songs that are pure thrash/speed metal (Break the Wall, Hammer of Wrath, M.D.O., for example), and several that are inspired by the 80s NWOBHM bands (New Wave of British Heavy Metal - bands like Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Judas Priest), such as Don't Bite the Dust, Scream For Me, Raise Some Hell, The Crusade, and Stand and Deliver (Shoot 'em Down). They also venture into progressive metal territory with songs like Edge of the World and A Frozen Serenade. They also have a few songs that fit into the category of symphonic/neo-classical metal, such as Swan Song, Paranoia, Dystopia Symphony, and Winds of Transylvania. However, their dual lead-guitar solos are their signature, so you'll see those in just about every song, no matter which genre. As for language, they only have one song in Japanese, and that is the original EP version of Bravehearted, which they re-released in English on their debut album.

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. Yes, Japan is leading the way in metal now, and Lovebites are probably the apex band. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Some background: They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). It’s unfortunate that people keep saying that LOVEBITES is a power metal band witch is not true in order to be a power metal band they would have to play every single song the same way LOVEBITES does not this band actually falls in the category of “British New Wave Heavy Metal” or for older metal heads (like me) traditional heavy metal not any of the sub-genres that came after. Lovebites in general are power/speed metal based. This is stronger power, but not classic power metal to my ears. I'm glad when reactors who aren't the biggest fan of Lovebites admit it is simply not in their wheelhouse. Fair enough. Because I'm a metalhead, Band-Maid just doesn't do it for me per se. I like them, but just some of their songs. I honestly like pretty much every song by Lovebites. They are my favorite band ever (50+ years listening to metal), and this song is my favorite song. Nicely done reaction. Try their other music video from this album, "Stand and Deliver" - not power metal at all. If you like thrash, try "Break the Wall" live from Zepp DiverCity Tokyo 2020. They are an amazing live band. This song is very Slayeresque to me. And if you want to see a masterpiece that includes a classical piano into and outro from Miyako, the dark haired guitarist on the right who is also a virtuoso on piano, try "Swan Song" with Chopin intro. Welcome to the Wolfpack! (the name for the Lovebites fans :D) - Glad to see you fully enjoying the best metal band on the planet. It's great to see more people discovering our ladies! I encourage you to check out some of their live performances too - in my decades of metal fandom, I've never heard cleaner sound out of a band live. Also, they while they usually wear the white gowns that are their usual "Battle Uniforms", one of their newest songs "Stand and Deliver" is one of the few MVs they have done in casual clothes. Some data on the band: The lead singer (Asami) is the group goofball, and is known as "The One and Only Voice" - and metal is a new genre for her vocally. She does a lot of writing, also. Haruna is the drummer - called "The Little Engine" - because she just crushes the drum parts and rhythm section on every song, and she is completely indefatiguable! Miyako is our dark haired guitarist who also does all the background synth and piano work. In addition, she also writes and does everything with that calm, cool professionalism. :) She is called "The Golden Touch" for a reason - everything she touches turns gold. Midori is the blonde guitarist with the amazing hair, and she is called "The Crazy Shredder" - because, well, it is what it says. She's insanely good and aggressive shredder. She also performs in bodybuilding competitions. :) On bass you have the amazingly talented Fami - who doesn't have a nickname yet - but she really has injected even more energy and passion into the group. I have been following bands since the mid 70s and it is safe to say that lovebites are in my top 5, joining the likes of Dream Theater, Iron maiden, Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin !! Since its your first time listening to them I am sure the over zealous fans will not totally shred you, yet!! My only gripe is the use of the word hate, it is better to use dislike or some other non threatening adjective!!

Although the common powermetal wasn‘t my style before, LOVEBITES have become my favorite band in only a few months after I found them 2 years ago. IMO they are so much better than most of the other bands around that I quit listening to a lot of the old stuff I was used to …
