It isn't an understatement to say EXO's Xiumin worships TVXQ. He said he wanted to be an idol and joined SM because of his love for TVXQ. He admires everything about them, even their height. LOL Both members of DBSK are 6 feet. I'm really happy for Xiumin that he's gotten so close to Changmin after being so awestruck at his first meeting with the legends. 😀

TVXQ is the og O.G. of kpop. Spellbound is 5 stars, the song just keeps on elevating, and it's deservedly 4-minute long too!!! And Mirotic, don't get me started on Mirotic. I'm literally addicted to that song. Tons of smooth b-sides too: Smoky Heart, Love Again, etc etc. The day I discovered TVXQ is one of the most unregrettable days of my existence.

You need to watch some of the live japanese performances of all 5 of them because they're insanely good. I recommend "Love in the ice" or "Bolero"

TVXQ is my favorite kpop group and its kinda sad they get slept on, but oh well. 'Rising Sun' is probably up there with 'Mirotic' in how iconic it is and how it blew up their popularity back in the day. 'Something' is also jazzy, and "Truth' is a very nice song Also, their ballads like 'Tonight' and 'Bolero' really show off their great vocals.

The guy you said you liked the tone of his voice is Kim Junsu/ Xia and his voice is incredible. He has solo songs and he does a lot of musicals so you should definitely check him out when you get a chance

I highly recommend Yunho U-know solo songs. His album Noir is a masterpiece. His nickname is mister passionate at SM because he has an amazing work ethic and just puts his all into his music

When I first got into Kpop, every idol group was covering Mirotic. It was pretty much a standard for groups to do at year end shows etc they have an amazing legacy.

Tbh SM just houses the greatest artist like BoA TVXQ SuJu SNSD Shinee f(x) Exo Redvelvet NCT and their other first gens too like SES and Shinwa. SM might be questionable or considered a bad company but their artist never disappoints I would say Aespa too but i really havent check any new groups any more including them.. im just a casual fan to most now, with the exception of my ults SNSD and Loona although i was a huge multi before :)

Keep Your Head Down was their first song as a duo, the trailers etc were all the intro part and made the k-pop world go insane in expectations at the time, what a throwback. Yunho's rap tone used to be kinda weird yes but it was a signature and made him easy to recognize. Hug is another famous songs of them that, like Mirotic, has been covered like a million time. I'd recommend Truth (kinda Jamiroquai vibe), Love Line (NSYNC/backstreet boys vibe), The Chance of Love, Rising Sun. Their live performances are always so much better than the studio versions but they'll probably be blocked ... Like their Japanese songs as they are under Avex... But their MBC 2018 performance ( Drop + Mirotic + The Chance of Love) is not blocked on KZfaq 😃

TVXQ are actually legends, I saw them live once years ago, still not over it…they’re just incredible

YAAAAY IM SO HAPPY!!! When I saw them on the schedule I got so excited jdbxjdbcjxj. TVXQ (aka gods of the east) currently consist of Yunho and Changmin (don't worry, p much no cassie calls him Max jdbcjd). Originally 5 members (all korean), they were originally supposed to be an acapella group, so every single one of the can SING. Around 2009-2010 there was a whole big lawsuit regarding their treatment etc, to this day a lot of people in the fandom are bitter about it, with a lot of misinfo spreading - it is/was really messy jsbdjdhdh. The other 3 members formed another group - JYJ, but sm basically blocked them from attending music shows and such. Two members - Jaejoong and Junsu, have very good solo + musical careers (Jaejoong being one of the best kpop vocalists of all time imo, alongside Changmin). Since then TVXQ started to function as a duo! Honestly Yunho is probably my favourite male kpop dancer of all time, he has this Sass and air of confidence about him when he performs that just blows people away :D I cannot express how excited I am about you checking them out, kinda knew that Before U Go was gonna blow you away jdbcjdbhdhd. Some other mvs/tracks that you might like are Truth, The Chance Of Love, Something, and Rising Sun (rising sun is kinda the I Got A Boy of TVXQ) :D edit: the chinese writing is because they were one of the first kpop groups to take off in the chinese market! tvxq, dbsk, dong bang shin ki, tohoshinki - those are just some of the names they're known as jdndjfbc

If you are still on this 2nd gen discovery, I highly recommend Super Junior! Not sure how much you already know about them, but they debuted in 2005, and have been going strong ever since. Originally 12 members, then 13 in 2006. Two more were added for a sub unit in 2007, but are not officially recognized as members of the main group, but many fans and the members treat them as such anyway. So, highly recommend their songs!

Their acapella performances are a whole other level, so I highly recommend you check them out at some point

Hey Fifi! Thank you for reacting to TVXQ. You mentioned there was a lot of Chinese characters associated with them. It's because their name is written in Chinese characters which translates to "Rising Gods of the East". In Korea, they're called DBSK, short for Dong Bang Shin Ki, which means the same. They are just as popular if not more popular in Japan. There were originally 5 members. They are/were super close with the members of Super Junior because most of them all trained and even lived together before these 5 were picked to be DBSK. If it wasn't for Boa and DBSK, there wouldn't be a K-pop market in Japan. The reason they are so popular in Japan and are fluent in Japanese is because they pretty much had to start all over in Japan as newbees calling them Tohoshinki (which is what they're known as in Japan). SM dropped them over there with no real support to start them from scratch as if they were a new group so they had to start from the ground up again, learning Japanese, the culture, etc. They would perform in tiny venues in the beginning making a name for themselves. I think DBSK might have been the first foreign group to perform in the Tokyo Dome? That's how highly respected they and Boa are in Japan and the Japanese consider them honorary Japanese if that makes sense. Three members filed a lawsuit in 2009, JYJ, before they left in 2010. The remaining duo finally came back with "Keep Your Head Down". Some people thought the lyrics to that song were about the 3 members who left. It was the oldest, You-Know Yunho, and the youngest, Max Changmin, that stayed with SM. Max was only 15 when they debuted! He got married last year. SM did and I think still do the other 3 dirty by using its power to keep the other three from promoting in Korea by banning them from Korea TV, radio, etc. All 5 are Korean. You-Know Yunho is known for his dancing. He's one of SM's first "Dancing Machines". There's an ongoing joke that SM has a few "intense, overly passionate" artists and You-Know is the founding member. Another member is Shinee's Minho. Super Junior's Heechul often says even SM's founder avoids those guys. Hero JaeJoong was one of the original, typical "SM" look. LOL. He was/is known for his beauty. If you look at a lot of SM artists, they have similar looks to JaeJoong....kind of like Japanese anime if that makes sense. NCT's Taeyong is a prime example. LOL All 5 members can sing well. They would often sing acapella. The group had everything i.e. looks, talent, etc. The 3 members left at the height of their popularity. DBSK had a squeaky clean image too, unlike SM's 1st generation's Shinhwa who flaunted their bad boy reputation. Well, DBSK used to be squeaky clean. It was said back then that DBSK was the world record holder for several things. They had the largest fan club (official, paying fans), not even counting the Japanese fans, most photographed group, etc. The leader, You-Know, Yunho, even survived a murder attempt by an anti. Mirotic is a made up word. That song was the "it" song back then. Everyone covered it and the challenge was to hit Changmin's high note in the song. The song was initially controversial so when singing it, DBSK used to have to say "I choose you under the sky" instead of "I got you under my skin" LOL BTW - I would suggest you listen to their "Rising Sun". It's iconic and one of their biggest hits. It's got a little bit of everything and it's kind of a mess but addictive. It had the usual Changmin high note and it was even in the movie "Fast and Furious". 😀 Thanks for giving them a listen. SM always had powerful vocals even from the beginning. SM must have something in their water or something. Hero Jaejoong used to be tone deaf. LOL You might want to give those 1st generation artists a listen as well. Sorry for the long comment. So I'm happy you enjoyed the music :) FYI They have official names in Chinese, Korean, and Japanese which is why you are probably seeing Chinese. TVXQ is the initials to their Chinese group name:Tong Vfang Xien Qi DBSK = Dong Bang Shin Ki THSK = Tohoshinki I would also recommend their Japanese music they have a huuuge compilation of Japanese music since they were really really big in Japan one of the first to really make it big in Japan from Korea. Along with BoA of course she deserves her big share of credit as well but we were talking about dbsk here.

Some B-sides you might enjoy are "Heaven's Day", "Destiny", "Good Night", "Honey Funny Bunny", "She", and "Rumor" for something pretty smooth and toward r & b. Hope you enjoy! So happy you reacted to them. Been a fan of them for like 17 years 🥺💖 'Hug' and 'Balloons' for the ultimate nostalgia and feels. Tri-Angle (personal fave). Purple Line. Wrong number. If you want to see more of their live vocals as a 5 - 'Love In the Ice' (I tend to gravitate towards the Japnese version. I'm not big on ballads either but this song has an unhealthy hold on me).

Fifi~~ I was so waiting for this and your reaction as always was amazing! I knew you'd love Before you Go, it was composed by the same composer that wrote Exo's What is Love and Tell me What is Love, that is why it sounds so EXO ( and many other songs). I remember I attended to SMTown concert back in 2012 and I honestly didn't know much about TVXQ nor their songs at that time, and I remember that their section of the concert was absolutely amazing, on Keep Your Head Down everyone was doing the head movement of the dancers absolutely epic. The three members that left had issues with their contract and well, you know how that goes, but they were not Chinese, all of them are Korean and formed a group together named JYJ. And yes TVXQ is known because ALL of them knew how to dance and sing ( like SHINee, many refer to SHINee as the second TVXQ). Hope you react again! TVXQ are actual legends, so I’m always happy to see people discovering them. 🥳 They’ve been very active in Japan these past few years, so I’d recommend checking out anything from their XV album (my personal favorite is “Hot Sauce”). They’ve released mostly solo tracks in Korea lately. Have you seen “Thank U” by U-Know? It’s an experience. 😎 The split of TVXQ was, to my understanding, mostly a contract dispute with SM. Back then, idols’ contracts ran much longer (I think 12 years was standard), so while TVXQ was incredibly successful and had helped establish Kpop as a force in Japan, they weren’t actually making much money, didn’t have much control over their careers, and couldn’t renegotiate their contract for another several years. Thus, three of the members sued to leave SM, and South Korean contracts are now legally restricted to 7 years because of that lawsuit. The members who left are Jaejoong, Junsu/XIA, and Yoochun, who continued as JYJ and also have done some solo work, musicals, acting, etc.

Haechan of NCT has a very similar vocal colour to former TVXQ member Junsu. Slightly nasally with a higher pitch and a lot of grit and excellent power and vibrato. Junsu was my bias in TVXQ before he and the other two members Jaejoong (who taeyong is a look alike of) and Yoochun left. They formed JYJ when they moved companies so you should check them out as well as Junsu’s solo stuff because he has some truly iconic songs. His vocals were always the most impressive to me because he has that theateresque quality to his voice and skill. And he does a lot of Korean Broadway. I’ll always be OT5 TVXQ but I think current TVXQ has been holding it down on their own incredibly well too.

Wow TVXQ! Glad you're reacting to them! Mirotic was my first ever K-pop song before I even knew what K-pop was back when I was 8 so this is really nostalgic! The 3 members that left went on to make a group of their own, JYJ. I don't really know what happened but it was something to do with SM's treatment of the members and the contract so they ended up filing a lawsuit (I think) similarly to Luhan and Tao. I didn't follow JYJ when they left but they have a pretty big fanbase too. Changmin and Yunho are seniors to most of the SM groups and I know a lot of the EXO members are good friends with them! Finally 😭😭😭😭😭 thank you FiFi for this reaction video of them. And I hope you could listen or watch mv of another song of them when they still in full 5 members, it doesn't matter if you just watch it for yourself only. Because their music was super great, super talented, super powerful vocals, their unique vocals is in another level, especially Junsu's vocal. The acapella version of their song was legit, highly recommended 😭😭😭 To me, if exo is the King of kpop, so DBSK is the god of K-Pop. I loved them from the beginning of their career in 2003/2004 when I still 9th grader in my super earlier teen-age.

Xia (Junsu) and his song Incredible got me into EXO no lie. I was listening to that one and then Call Me Baby came on and then it was all over. I used to just spam those songs over and over. My favorite songs are Something and The Chance of Love. I’m glad you liked them! Also you need to watch Xiumin talking about Changmin and TVXQ, he has stars in his eyes, he is the most successful Cassiopeia. It’s true that SM had blocked JYJ because they are petty about the case, we all know it. I know that Junsu could not get on a music show for his last comeback, so I watched him post live videos of him singing his title track. He’s just a super gifted vocalist, no wonder he’s so good at musicals.

TVXQ, along with Rain and BigBang are the sole reasons that brought me into Kpop period. For TVXQ, I got into them when they were just splitting up, "Mirotic" was my jam. And then "Put Your Head Down" or another title "Why" slayed me totally. Those outfits I thought were weird and off the wall, but the music got my attention big time. I started watching so many different live stages of "Why", and said "kpop is so different, I need to watch more!" Rain was the disco groove sex symbol with "It's Raining", and I fell in love with TVXQ "Spellbound", what an absolute gem! Then of course Exo came along and stole my heart. But yeah, Yunho or Uknow, who is Max's partner when they became two, he has a banger of a solo mv called "Drop" which I absolutely love. He's such a boss, or king in the mv. The narrator at the beginning says "This is King's speech"...then it takes on a revolutionary feel with Yunho being a leader type. A hidden gem of an mv, not many know of it, but I think I'm going to watch it right now, it's been awhile.💙🌺

The other member is Dancing king u-know yunho he’s my bias!!😍💖 And yes tvxq (also know as dbsk = dong bang shin ki) originally debuted as a 5 member group in 2003 u-know yunho, max changmin (the maknae), hero jaejoong (my other bias), xiah junsu and mickey yoochun (btw the first parts of their name were their stage names no one uses them tho to refer to them lol). The 3 members that left due to sm’s mistreatment of them, unfair wages & slave type contract at the time which was a 13yr long contract & the lawsuit was very messy so im not gonna go anymore into it anyway they made their own group in 2010 after leaving sm called JYJ their music is so good too defo recommend checking them out too only if you want to ofc! Also love how you reacted to pretty much all of my fave tvxq title tracks lol And before you go is one of my all time fave tvxq when i watched this in 2012 it absolutely KILLED ME tbh it still does!!!
