This is what happens when you are a young band, have no money at all and have to make your music video at your record company office. :) This is one of their shortest songs and only one aspect of their style(s). They have four albums in total and three EPs, with the songs of their debut EP re-recorded for the first album. Their style is difficult to generalize. On their first two albums, they played a mixture of 80s styles: Iron Maiden-influenced songs like this here, some faster power metal, some that you might call hard rock, and even some thrash. They are always very melodic and also outstanding songwriters and arrangers, and what you've seen here in the way of guitar solos is nothing: they have extended one and a half minute solo duels on some songs. This song here is more like a party ditty they play toward the end of set lists. On their last two albums and last EP, they have become heavier and faster (some of it REALLY FAST) and lean more towards power metal. Their stuff is not just virtuosic (they're five superb musicians), but also really tasteful, and what goes on the instruments can be quite intricate. You'll be glad you have discovered them. The music video for Don't Bite the Dust was uploaded one month before their major label debut. It was also only five months after their first live performance as LOVEBITES. Guitarist Mi-YA on the left was a support guitarist and it took a few more months before she changed her name to Miyako and became an official band member.

Lovebites have a masterful way of weaving different metal genres into their songs. Midori and Miyako the two guitarists, have swapped stage positions from their earlier days. Miyako plays keyboards and for whatever reason, the keyboards have always been situated stage left. Therefore, she used to have to walk across the entire stage to play them and then get back to stage right again. Now we see Midori with blonde hair and is on stage right. In this video, she has long dark hair and standing on stage left. Miho the bass player and Haruna the drummer formed Lovebites. Sadly, Miho has left the band and this was a shock to all the band members. Lovebites held an international audition to find a replacement. After many submitted auditions, it came down to two choices. They went with Fami, who aged twenty was younger than the rest of the Lovebites ladies but she fits in very well.

If you want to go out of the head for insane techniques and speed of this group, you can find some songs only audio: "Dissonance", "The soldier stands solitarily", "Paranoia"... Lovebites has heavier tracks than this. Yes, this was their first single / music video and you can hear the Iron Maiden influences which came from Miho, their bassist and band leader at the time who is a Steve Harris fan. Lovebites also draws influences from Judas Priest and Helloween, as well as Slayer and Metallica. Miho left the band in 2021 and was replaced with Fami, a 21 year old phenom on bass. Lovebites two guitarists, Midori (blond) and Miyako (black hair), have improved their speed and precision over the seven years that followed this and, in my opinion, are as good as Tipton and Downing or anybody for that matter. Haruna is one of the best drummers in all of Japan and Asami, the vocalist, has the lung power of Bruce Dickinson. One reactor calls her the Banshee.

Nah, Lovebites sing entirely in English, with the exception of one song. Your subtitles went out of alignment there, but it's all English. This is one of their most basic songs, but if you love metal with an 80s styling, you're going to love this band. Check out something live from them (maybe Holy War from 2020 on their official channel), and be totally blown away.

The subtitles weren't in sync with the video. Asami sings everything in English but with her Japanese accent some people have trouble making it out at first. It takes some getting used to.

Excellent journey you got started here Graxus. You won't miss with this band, they are insane musicians. Live is the way to go with LOVEBITES, they replicate all studio tracks live and in situ and it is a sight to both behold and hear (behear?). One - or two - words of caution: 1) If you are recommended to check out "Swan Song" (and you will be asked, believe you me) please do not go for the version from Knocing On Heaven's Door. It is well produced but rather sloppily mixed with regards to the piano part. 2) Do not react to the Bloodstock videos, again, these are rather laclustre in mixing and overall production.
