_Ex professional NYC messenger who has never owned a car, only motorcycles and bicycles. The issue with motorcycles is that no matter how good you are,(and I considered myself the best), something is going to happen that will introduce you to how hard the pavement really is. ANY biker who says that they have not been down who has been riding for any amount of is lying._ _Best advice, unless you ride often, stay off of them! Why someone would start someone off on a bike bigger than 350cc is beyond me!_ *ALWAYS WARE PROTECTION!* 😶

I was a bike messenger in Manhattan for years, did Kozmo , Mobile , Elite, and a few smaller companies. Not sure what that has to do with motorcycling. But anyhow, This guy's an idiot, If you want to ride a motorcycle, do it. It's a lot of fun. I've been riding for a coupl years now , and yes I've crashed into shit, and fallen down. Not really that big of a deal. Dusted myself off, and got back in the saddle. Sure I could die on my motorcycle, but I could also die on the job, slipping in the shower, or even sitting on the crapper . Life if fucking short, so make the best of the time you have here , and don't live in fear. The MSF course is the best way to learn to ride, and when you finish the class you get a road test waver for the motorcycle license . It's well worth the money, and who knows, maybe you'll lean something that will save your life. As for what size motorcycle you decide to start on, it's just a matter of preference . I started out on a 900cc 4 years ago, and I'm still loving it. If you buy a little 250cc chances are you'll out grow in in a week and regret your purchase. Just remember to keep the rubber side down.

@@jiggyfly6295, Thanks Jiggy. "This guys an idiot". Too funny. I hadn't ridden a bike since 1972. I went out and bought a 800 lb. 1813 cc, for my first bike. It was slow and easy on the freeway and parking lots. I practiced a lot. I've had it 5 yrs in July. 45,000 miles. Best thing I ever did!! I've never took classes. I don't take direction well. I've never laid her down. A buddy of mine said, if someone pulls out in front of you and collision is unavoidable, point the bike at them and mash on the motor!!!! But never lay it down!! Ride Safe!!

At 1:52 you fail ! Video from the aspect of motorcycle riders skills and awareness and attitude it is clear that KZfaq videos are the worst place to “learn to ride a motorcycle” 99.9% of the time. Number one is: Can the person ride a bicycle? You need that balance skill first. Next you need to know how to stop a motorcycle BEFORE you get the ignition key. You NEVER start off a first time person like that. You get them on a 250 cc or small bike if at all possible. You DO NOT start the engine EVER - hide the key. You need at least 2 people. The new rider after being shown and understand every part and item on the motorcycle - they sit on the motorcycle with 2 feet down always. The second person is behind and pushes in a straight line. So when the new rider is ready they yell "go" and the person behind pushes....when the motorcycle is rolling straight ahead the person behind yells "stop". The new rider stops the motorcycle with the rear brake only. You do this over and over maybe 25 times. Then next you do the same but instead part 2 is use the front brake only each time. Maybe 25 times. Then part 3 is using both brakes equally maybe 25 times. A new person is not allowed to start the engine until they know how to stop. And be very comfortable at stopping smoothly. If that is all you do on your first day that is great. With no engine. So they have had the experience of stopping a motorcycle at least 75 times or more with no engine. There are hundreds of videos on KZfaq of "fails" of new riders getting on ... starting the engine and the motorcycle races into a fence or wall or something and the person has no clue how to stop the machine. If you can't stop a motorcycle with both brakes in a proficient smooth manner you are not allowed to start the engine. And two feet down for every stop and two feet up at the same time as soon as the person starts to push. The same when the engine is running some day. I have seen beginners fall over trying to use one leg or the other. One foot means the bike is tilted and unstable. That is how new riders crash. They must learn to stop in a controllable manner first. New riders should never be put into 'panic' first day situations.
