In this session with Alexa, I decided I wanted to shoot with some constant lights source as well as with a strobe. Nothing special, but I just wanted to try something a little different. Hope you enjoy the pics!

What is the ceiling mount you are using for the backdrops? A studio setup tour would be a great video at some point.

Great idea! I’m going to be redoing it soon. Excellent idea!

Alexa always gets me with that smile. TOO CUTE🥰! Jason, are you using an ND when you shoot with flash?
@J.Allen_Photography13 күн бұрын
Not for these. I recently have begun using an ND from Freewell. I have a video with Sara showing my results. I don’t use it all the time, but I’m getting more comfortable with it!

Hi Jason, loved the results as usual. What is the power rating on the LED, as you were shooting wide open at a low ISO.
@J.Allen_Photography2 ай бұрын
I wish I remembered. Sorry. It was up above 75/80% that I do know. It’s a powerful light, the Aputure 600.

Loving your videos and the podcast!! I'm starting to go through some of your older videos and saw that you in one of the videos you included the SOOC and the edits. Would you be opposed to doing that on a couple of your future videos, specifically the outdoor portrait sessions with OCF? It would be extremely helpful seeing what the exposure looks like SOOC. If you don't want to do that I completely understand. I just thought I'd put that out there. Thank you for sharing all of this knowledge with us!

I can try to do that. I know this weeks episode has just one out of camera.

What kind of backdrops do you use? I really loved the pictures with the blue backdrop! Really popped
@J.Allen_Photography2 ай бұрын
I use seamless paper for most of them. I have a couple from Avezano. But we didn’t use them in this shoot.

@@J.Allen_Photography awesome! Thanks so much for reaching back out. I love your work. Being a fellow San Antonian, really cool to watch you and learn.

One lesson I learned the hard way is not to use electronic shutter with LED lights powered by AC current, because it causes banding in photos that really can't fully be removed in Photoshop or even by AI afterwards - at least not yet. Thing is a lot of performances today use that LED lighting and the only way to prevent the banding is to either shoot at the frequency of the current (1/60 sec) or turn off silent shooting (electronic shutter). Have you encountered that?
@J.Allen_Photography2 ай бұрын
I haven’t had any issues yet. But I don’t mix often and I rarely use the e shutter.
@vidademikey97902 ай бұрын
Honestly why would anyone even use the electronic shutter?
@J.Allen_Photography2 ай бұрын
@@vidademikey9790 I do use every now and then, but with lighting.
@J.Allen_Photography2 ай бұрын
@@vidademikey9790 and only with action dance shots. Outdoors with good ambient. Thats about the only time I use the e shutter.
@brianballoonphotography2 ай бұрын
@@vidademikey9790 silent shooting - if there's an event where you're close to an audience and it's supposed to be real quiet and you need to grab some pics with your camera, you can do that with e-shutter without the clicking sound.
