Windy Conditions: How I lit with the GODOX AD200 / Featuring Drina

26 күн бұрынIn this video Drina and I hit the rooftops of San Antonio! It was windy as you'll see in the video, but we made it work. No way was I going to use a 42 inch wind catcher, so I just used a GODOX AD200 and a reflector diffuser as the modifier.
I also know that I should have shot the opening sequence with a higher frame rate so I could have made it slow motion...but I didn't. Maybe next time!

Thought the rooftop shots were good, but the alley shots were even better. Good fortune to be kicked off the rooftop 😮. Great car+ great model=great photos.

Jason! Amazing photos. Great use of the diffuser and the AD200. I thought the diffuser will get you hard shadows having the flash so far from the model but it didn't. This is valuable knowledge to me. Thank you.

The diffuser spreads the light out. Shooting without the diffuser would have produced harder, deeper shadows. As light passes through any sort of diffusion, it scatters at wider angles than if it was undiffused.

Great shots, that 7inch reflector was a great idea. But why Godox can't make a diffuser disk that the catches doesn't break will always be a mystery.😂

Lovel yoru work - you know that by now. Getting kicked out of that car parking lot (us Brits call them car parks) was a blessing because the alley shots are 🔥

@@J.Allen_Photography I guess you don't get hassled by security much. I once set up my gear in a car park here in the UK and before I'd clicked the shutter I was shut down. I stick to public places I can't get thrown out of these days.

Was the reflector the Godox one or the Westcott Deep Focus Reflector?

do you shoot in AWB ? Kelvin ? fix in post ? Do you explain this in any of your videos?

Fantastic shoot Jason. Loved the models dress and posing skills. The Corvett was a beautiful prop. Using the AD 200 with just a reflector produced great lighting and worked well in the wind. What power level did you use for the daytime shots?

This was around sunset so I don’t think I was at full power, but honestly don’t remember.

@@J.Allen_Photography Thanks for the reply, Jason, I have the AD 300 most of my model shoots I use a 24 or 33 inch soft box. My power setting is usually around 1/8..To bad the strobe info is Not on the file. Since the trigger is mounted on the camera it seems it would be good info to reference. Since you post your shoots on U-Tube maybe keep a note pad handy on your shoots to record the strobe power?...BTW when I do use a reflector I use 1 or 2 white fabric diffusers to soften the harsh bare bulb light..I buy small amount of white fabric and cut out circles then my wife sews an elastic band around the edge to keep them in place..I enjoy your videos Jason keep them coming.

How did you control the light on the car not to be too strong on it and too low on the model ? Was it on post processing?

Just the way I exposed before adding my light. No post processing was needed to bring up or down exposure.
