Fair use is a doctrine in the United States copyright law that allows limited use of copyrighted material without requiring permission from the rights holders, such as for commentary, criticism, news reporting, research, teaching or scholarship. It provides for the legal, non-licensed citation or incorporation of copyrighted material in another author’s work under a four-factor balancing test. The term “fair use” originated in the United States. A similar principle, fair dealing, exists in some other common law jurisdictions. Civil law jurisdictions have other limitations and exceptions to copyright.

No matter how many times I have watched this movie, the ending just always gets me. To me, the ending of this movie is one of the best in cinema history. When Wind in his hair is on the cliff yelling out to his friend, omg just tears start flowing. Great reaction ❤

Same part of the movie that got me also. Wind in his hair hated him at first. After everything he showed love to Dancing With 🐺. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the reaction ❤️

Excellent reaction. You didn't try to out guess the movie or ask question after question, you let the movie explain. The best part is there is nothing phony about your reactions, which nowadays is very refreshing.

I agree, it was a great reaction because of all the points you wrote. It seems like 99% reactors don't stop talking the entire length of the movie. They have to do their constant plot-predictions and asking stupid questions instead of just watching the story unfold and enjoying the show. I feel like most reactors think they are 'the show' and they're here to entertain us with their mindless, nonstop banter. And then the tear when 48:19 sealed my "thumbs up" vote. This is how reactions should be done, like we're all watching a movie together.

Again you showed us a wonderful reaction, where one really felt how deep you were in the plot. This was, as almost always, a very good choice for a reaction, and not only because your intro with the wolf was particularly good this time^, but I have the feeling I don't have to make any recommendations here, because you usually seem to instinctively choose the right movies.

No shame in crying Sir this movie also got me at the end. lol. Funny thing is I'm a white Englishman or so I thought I was until I took a DNA test. It turns out I have native American blood in me. Mesoamerican and a touch of Sioux. Also a lot of Viking. None of us are who we think we are. We are all related in one way or another I suppose. Great video Sir and hello from across the pond.

If you haven't seen it yet, you should make your next reaction to "The Last Samurai" (2003). It's very much a similar plot to Dances With Wolves except it's a disenchanted Union soldier (Tom Cruise) in the 19th Century who goes to Japan. It's an epic film shot beautifully just like this one. Great cinematography, battles, etc.

@@CJmidnightreactions simple but hard. You knew what you had to do to LIVE. You fought and worked for your life. A drought or hard winter meant tough times. You lived by what you could grow and hunt. Nowadays...you have to pay someone in order to live. People continually tell you that you're not allowed. If we could have a society of people like what is depicted here, with the advancements of today. I think this country would be a much better place.

Great. I made my daughters watch this move when they were very young, like 8ish. My eldest, Iben, cried out, when they killed Cisco: Faen ta de blekansiktene, altså! Translated to something like "Just fuck those white people". We are white, just to be clear. Now, 15 years later she is writing her master on this film. On how a movie can set your ethics and morals.

Little clarification tho. I loved this movie as a kid and the portrayal of the natives in this movie is a great change from those old Western movies My family is/was in the military but times changed I got a lot of respect for them. We all know what happened in the past and we will always stay true to ourselves and that's today. I also got people in our family that do stuff I think doesn't make sense lol Much respect brother for doing this movie. Thank you

To show how much value, heart, didication actor Kevin Costner put into this movie. Other movie goers kept approaching him with other movies to star in. The hunt for the red October. And I can't recall the other's. But it definitely paid off for Kevin Costner because this will always be his baby. Like star wars to George Lucas Shindlers list to Steven Spielberg. The Godfather to Francis Ford Coppala.

Some of the Lakota tribe must have been watching over Dunbar's camp the night he danced around the fire at his post with Two Socks looking on -- why else would Kicking Bird call Dunbar "Dances with Wolves"?! Might the Lakota's dogs been their sentries? An early warning system for the camp? Knock them out and the tribe won't be ready for the sneak attack by the Pawnee. Good thing that last Pawnee was up on a horse, otherwise the Lakota would have shot each other across the encirclement! One of the unsung heroes of this movie is Smiles A Lot; protected the horses after the ambush of the US soldiers AND rescued Dunbar's journal PLUS he returned it to DwW.

I loved your reaction and I"m a new subscriber! I"m Cree... my Tribe contains the Plains Cree... who behaved in a similar fashion to the Lakota because of the Land similarities.. but Cree also occupied one of the largest land territories.. most of Canada and upper canada, anyway. We also have Swampy and Woodland Crees.. there's more lol. We are not gone, and we are on the Rise, because there's still some of us who REMEMBER. And we're sitting as poor peeps, in this sh*tshow society, because to be anything but poor is to be absolutely corrupted. I saw this movie when I was 19-20.. fresh off the streets. I had already lived a lifetime, by that time, and didn't know or understand that my life had already been mapped out for me, and everything I was doing, at that time, was following the script. Long story short.. I didn't forget who I was, before the War was finished, and I"m still revolutionizing my area of the planet. Because White Supremacy is an ongoing, extinction level mess.

From the start I know you got it wrong because you say it's 3 hours long. The short version leaves important chunks out of the story that prevent it from flowing smoothly. If you watch the 3 hour, 54 minute ultimate 25 anniversary version it will seem to go by more quickly and you'll understand the story much better. For instance; Dunbar decides to visit the Indian village, but his trip is interrupted when he encounters a white woman in Indian dress who is crying and carving her arms to bloody pieces. WTF‽ If you had been watching the complete version, you would know what she was doing and why.

This movie was HIGHLY controversial at the time at least to the Lakota and other plains folk. As you can see, the indigenous folks had already made contact with Spanish and Vikings by that point. They weren't nearly as ignorant as the movie portrays them to be. The movie wreaks of "white-saviorism." Oh here comes some random white guy whom has a romanticized view of us Natives and somehow in the end he became better at it than actual Natives. We were well versed in weaponry of all kinds including guns. Another thing that never gets pointed out is that ALL the folks that got nominated/won awards were the white folks in front of and behind the camera. Not one single Native was nominated for a thing. Its as though we were just window dressing for Kevin Costner. So yes very mixed reviews on it in Native country. On one hand, we had representation but on the other its more like we were just extras and props in the movie. Idk...
