A couple of comments about the guns in John Wick 3: 1. The scene with John Wick assembling a single action revolver to fight the initial bunch of assassins was an homage to "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly". He's listening to the timing of the revolver; the chambers in the cylinder have to align properly with the barrel when the cylinder rotates. I recommend watching a range of Clint Eastwood westerns. 2. John Wick and Charon (the concierge at the NY Continental) used shotguns in addition to pistols. Shotguns use shells rather than metallic cartridges. Due to the larger size, the magazine capacity of shotguns tend to be significantly lesser than that of rifles or pistols. I don't know why Winston didn't have rifles with armor piercing (AP) ammunition rather than shotguns. AP rifle rounds would be more effective than any specialty AP round for shotguns - the bullet velocity would be higher and the bullet cross section smaller, both of which aid in armor penetration.

The two guys who gave John a chance to fight them (Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian) were part of the choreography team for the fights and pretty sure they were the lead choreographers for this film at least, I'm not sure about the other films in the series. They're also known for their work in "The Raid" series of movies.

34:43 no it had to be the ring finger to show that he wouldn’t be able to pledge loyalty to anyone else. 37:31 in the fourth one the director did a lot of the scouting and the stunt coordinators got to pick some locations. 40:13 the director and editor usually work hand in hand so the editor conveys what the director was going for. 41:28 Ian McShane was the best choice for Winston. I love how he enunciates certain words. The first day he showed up for John Wick 1 he brought his own wardrobe on what he thought Winston should be. 43:00 Winston is pretty much in a vault. 43:19 it’s sad he passed away in real life. He was such a great actor. I loved him in this film. The way he carried himself. 46:13 Keanu does zero stunts. He does action scenes. He doesn’t consider himself a stuntman so he never says he does stunts. He and Chad discuss the scenes and if a seasoned stuntman would get hurt badly then Keanu didn’t do the scene and definitely no getting hit with a car. 52:24 look how he didn’t go for John’s head. He shot him in the bulletproof jacket and aimed him to the side where he had the best chance for survival.

Collette, Happy Birthday first of all. My birthday is in February also (the 9th) - next year I expect a card Jk ;) Second, I'm glad you liked this one. I also love watching people's reaction to the knife in the eye scene. I also love your commentary on the films and what the director and actor and others are doing/saying etc. Your insight is always interesting. I'd like to ask some questions (if you don't mind). What kind of role would you like to play that you haven't already played? Would you rather do (as far as movies) action/comedy/rom-com/horror/suspense or sci-fi? And why? Favorite actor/actress you would love to work with that you haven't - like your top pick. That's about it. Have fun horseback riding (as opposed to horsefront riding - I hear the horses don't like that). And if I ever see you sitting alone in a place, I won't come sit next to you. I'll just stare at you creepily from across the room, because _that_ won't be awkward.

A lot of people don’t realize why Wick is swapping the parts of the revolver, aside from it being a tribute to the film “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.” The other reason, and the more practical in universe reason, is because he’s not in a gun shop. He’s in a museum. Many museums usually use deactivated firearms to put on display (some even require certain parts be removed). However, there’s several ways to deactivate a firearm and no universal one way of doing it. This means some of the parts in the deactivated gun are still useable and can theoretically be fitted and made into a functional gun. So, in the scene in the movie, the reason why the round doesn’t fit is because the cylinder on the revolver is plugged, which is one way revolvers can be deactivated. Because of this, Wick finds a gun with an intact cylinder and a barrel not plugged in order to get a round out of it.

@Colette Cherry You asked why the director chose to have rain in so many night shots. I cannot answer that with authority. It made me think and I might have a good answer. John Wick and this underworld of assassins' are very good at what they do. What makes John stand out is his honed senses, instincts, and experience. Senses is the big ticket here with the night time and rain. Moonless nights are hard to see the enemy so you must hear. Rain with it's every drop muffles sound and overloads the sense. Hear past the rain, muffle it out and focus better than the enemy hears you and you have an advantage; especially if its 5 people versus one and you cant look everywhere at once. I think they gave contextual clues with having both blind and deaf assassins near Johns level of skill

Personally, Chapter 3 was a (still good) low point of the series. I felt fatigue towards the end when everyone at the Continental requires like three headshots and the fanboy villain was a little too on the nose. Chapter 4 (which I will consider the canon end even if studios won’t let the series just end) more than makes up for it and is stellar.
