I like the new comment/ reaction format in the beginning, I think it's a great idea if there are ever good comments like that for discussion. Happy to see the cliffhangers are having the same effect that us original viewers had haha. Looking forward to the next one!

Now that I'm into the second half of the season, I'm expecting more and more revelations and then something crazy in episode 23. Can't wait to get there.

In "White Rabbit", episode 5, Jack's mother tells him that he has to go get his father. When he says he doesn't want to go, she says "You don't get to say no. Not after what you did." I'm paraphrasing here because I don't remember the exact quote, but I think I'm pretty close. From the clarification given in this episode, I think we can see that his mother does blame Jack for his father running off and that opinion was because he told the truth to the review board. It's not clear if she knew that Jack's father was operating under the influence, or that the patient was pregnant. To answer your question, I think there are several factors as to if a hospital's board would allow a child of a chief surgeon to be under his supervision. Much of it depends on the hospital's needs and the availability of other qualified surgeons. For example, if the hospital is in a small town, father and son surgeons might be all they can get. But, in this case, a major hospital in Los Angeles, should be able to find qualified surgeons that are not related or don't have a relationship that might be questionable. So, yes, there should be a rule against it in this context. But in the end, it is all up to the determination of the board of the hospital and what they and their insurers are willing to accept.

Ya the conversation you're referring to between Jack and his mother is the exact one I meant. Can't wait to watch that again with more context.

Ah! the cliffhangers of LOST! 😁 Annoying but addictive. Charlie doesn't remember anything but he remembers that Ethan wasn't alone. "All THEY wanted was Claire", not "all HE wanted was Claire". When a reactor cares about seeing Charlie die, it’s because the series is doing its job.

It definitely is. He's not my favorite character or anything....but they got me invested enough through his relationship with Claire.

Jack's father was not exactly supervising. Jack took over the surgery when a nurse went to get him because his father seemed impaired.

Understood. I wasn't necessarily saying that his father was supervising this surgery. I was saying that he's a surgeon in a hospital where his father seems to be running that entire department.

Thanks. Luckily everyone has been really good so far...there have been a few times where other subscribers have jumped onto a comment and been like "hey, they haven't actually said anything about that on the show yet at this point"...but it's never been something where I felt like a big plot point had been revealed to me

Thanks for the shout out. It's possible he infiltrated the group right before we see him the first time on screen. It's also possible he did it the day of the crash. They haven't shown us everybody that's in the background really. Right now, we just don't have enough information to make a solid decision about that. Yup, we don't really know how big, or small, this island is at this point.

It would be so crazy to find out that he had inserted himself into the group immediately after the crash.

@@OldBeardedGuyReacts ... Maybe he did, maybe he didn't, but the earlier he did, would seem to make it harder for anyone to tell he wasn't there in the first place. Walking in there when the chaos was at it's peak would seem to make it harder to notice.

Now that you are past the last few episodes I can point this out ... two episodes ago, Rousseau referred to other people on the island as "others..." and during the previous episode ...titled "Raised by Another," the psychic told Claire "you musn't let another raise this child" ... which could also sound like "you musn't let AN OTHER raise this child" ... and Charlie said Ethan "only wanted Claire" ... just putting that energy out there. The creators of this show are playing the long game with everything, including the episode titles ... you noticed it already too in "Confidence Man." Everything has minimum two meanings. Not saying you should try to hide the episode titles from yourself or that all episode titles are spoilers... but the staff of this show is very, very clever. Keep up the good work!!

Thanks. For the most part, I try to avoid reading the titles when I'm opening up episodes...I got a detail spoiled for me in the first or second episode when I pulled up the episode and read the description that said "After finding out that Kate was the fugitive..." and I was like "OK gotta make sure not to read those anymore."

The 'comment' thing is a great idea. Don't know anything about hospital rules, but yes, Jack is in a very difficult position here. And he absolutely does the right thing. If his mother does blame him for this, then she is in the wrong just as much as his father was, imo. Edit: Not she has killed anyone, but her moral compass seems very skewed. Hate to tell you this, but LOST is all about the cliffhangers...so just sit back, relax and go with the flow 😉

I think this is why the cliffhangers thing caught me a little off guard. Around the same time period (although I think Lost was a little earlier) shows like Heroes and Prison Break would leave you with a cliffhanger at the end of LITERALLY every episode. With Lost, it seemed like the big reveals (Locke's wheelchair for example) came a few minutes before the end of an episode. So you got a little bit of time to soak it in before the actual end. When it's super abrupt and you're initial reaction is being recorded, it can be harder to gather your thoughts and not just go "ok that was crazy. Don't know what to think about that. See you guys next time."
