Another great connection within the story is Charlie's confession with the priest before meeting Liam and getting the recording contract, and how that relates to Locke's discussion about free will when he talks to Charlie about choosing to quit drugs.

One of the best parts of watching this show when it aired was coming up with theories. Can't wait to hear some of your predictions and theories as the plot thickens. Because it certainly will. Enjoy it! This is one of those shows that fans wish they could watch again for the first time. I know I do!

Thanks! I feel like I could've been more talkative during this one...but it had already been 2 weeks since I posted the last one, so I didn't feel like I could put it off until I could be "more expressive on camera". I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Awesome. My plan for next weekend is to watch at least the next two episodes. That way I can start scheduling these out and you guys won't have to wait multiple weeks for a new episode.

Agree with you. A very metaphorical episode. The moth is described as ugly and useless in its caterpillar form while it is capable of creating a cocoon to become beautiful and free. And that's exactly what Charlie is at the beginning: a junkie who feels useless, but who is capable of courage (which is beautiful) to save Jack, by crawling like a caterpillar towards the cave which represents the cocoon. From where he emerges crowned with glory by the other survivors but above all freed from drugs. And we even see Charlie fly like a butterfly when lifted by Hurley. 😁 For the mystery of Sayid's assailant, all the main characters have an alibi. Either in the caves or lighting the rockets. All except Rose. She is neither helping Jack and we do not see her in the episode. Suspect number 1. Wicked Rose. 🤣

Very thoughtful interpretations. Aside from Rose, we also (unless I'm mistaken) didn't see the pregnant girl this episode. I don't mean to imply that I suspect either of them at all. I think that there's someone else on the island at the source of the signal. I'm hoping they'll use the situation with Sayid to reveal that a little bit. I don't expect to get an in depth explanation until we're MUCH further along.

Don't be afraid to talk about theories - it's what drove this show when it was on - and if anybody gets on you for being wrong just remind them that there was no one recording their reactions when they said that the island was on the back of a turtle floating thru space!

Enjoyed your theory on the meaning of Charlie's LATE. I like to think it refers to Claire's baby being late, seeing as she comes into focus stroking her huge baby bump just after we see Charlie changing FATE to LATE. Or perhaps it's a reference to the fact that whoever is coming to rescue them is late. Definitely carry on making predictions...it's all part of the fun and that fun will only increase as we go on!

I don't know if you realized at some point because I see you with automatically translated subtitles, but Charlie's band is based on Oasis and the song that plays in this chapter is identical to the legendary song Rock and roll star. Also the singer's name is Liam ^^

Totally missed that one. This is why I love watching this with you guys, because you point out the details I didn't catch. What I would love to find would be a website where you could get all the little details and behind the scenes stuff for each episode, but also not get things spoiled about things you haven't seen. Even googling images to use for thumbnails for this show can be tricky.

Well, yeah, sort of. I mean the whole cave thing is like a cacoon. But what I think Locke was saying was, Charlies struggle to get clean would be his way of getting stronger.

I get that the addiction was the main struggle that he needed to fight his was out of...but it was also like "oh look, their giving a literal physical barrier that he has to push his way through to get to freedom."

Ironically, the original plan was, in the very first episode, to killoff Jack, but higher ups said no, so instead the random pilot died. Re comment about not killing off a main character this early.
