i just rechecked your video this morning and what really impressed me is you either answered or acknowledged every comment And i am 82 year old and i appreciate your classy effort to do that a lot of reactors don't do that so we don't even know if they read anything we write. to me there is no #1 GOAT THERE ARE A LOT OF GOATS Kolbe said it best why do you have to compare every player just appreciate the brilliance of each player, by the way on Kolbe's all time starting 5 he has Larry Bird as his starting small forward !

I'll watch this every time I see it. I graduated high school in 78, things were different, people were tough. Magic and Bird, and dozens of others were excellent players. The 80's was all about gathering together and watching basketball games on our little old tvs. Lol. So much fun!

Love this! Thank you! Next time, check your mix. Your voice is much louder than the program. I’m so glad you’re watching this. It is mega! I’m 50 years old and benefited from the CBS contract deal that put the NBA on Sunday. Watching at my dad’s, the games with these players was exciting. The Warriors were dead last in the standings so I also cheered for Bird and the Celtics to beat hated LA. :)

The Thing I respect about larry is his Mindset, Even when Losing, he blames himself. He could of easily pulled a Lebron "Had no Help" narrative in that college game, but he didnt, he focused on his stats alone and punishes himself.

When you go to games for your college, high school, or university, it somehow feels a little more like they are playing for pride and playing for you. I think there was a time during this period of unselfish basketball where it felt this way in the NBA too. Nowadays, it's difficult to relate to and root for stars when you know that they are probably already on their phones with agents after the game, planning on how to move somewhere else and how they'll drag the best of their draft class along.

Note the lack of 3pt line in the college footage, and the NBA didn't even implement the 3pt until his rookie campaign. So when you judge his 3pt shooting, look at the numbers from 84 onward. Give him that 5 years to develop it. Doesn't look too bad percentage wise huh? 😂 Now stick him in todays game where the 3pt is everything!

Magic said the same thing Cedric did with regards to what black players thought about white players. The white guy had to prove it before they believed it. Heck it’s still like that now even down to intramural sports in college lol. In the 90’s in college We played the black fraternities in flag football and basketball. The black guys guarding you or who you guarded always assumed they were faster. Always tried to take you deep the first few plays of a game or didn’t respect you going deep. Then after a few plays when you showed you had some skills it settled down and the game was played and we had fun.

Great reaction I am glad to see you do this one. I see a parallel with todays NBA as it was back in the late 70's. It seems todays players are all about their stats and money and not as much about the competition or winning. The NBA has lost ratings it has been too politicized and too much flopping and I find just chucking up 3's or dunking has become so common it no longer has the same excitement it did before. It may be exciting for the younger generation but for those who knew a earlier time it is just disappointing.

I think style of play and individualism combined with the drug problem was more of it than color. NFL stars at the time were still mostly black outside of QB and a few receivers and NFL has always been popular. Cooper described it pretty well.

I may have posted this here in the past, but until we stop using the terms "white" and "black" the divide in this country will never stop. I was Boston's biggest fan long before Bird came along. I loved Bill Rusell, Casey Jones, Sam Jones and their caucasian players Havlichik and Cousey. I loved the Harlem Globetrotters as well. Were there any caucasians on the Globetrotters? I don't know and I don't care. My father used every racial slur know to man when he read something in the pape, but it wasn't personal. It had to do with how he was raised. But one on one with any Negro my father was always kind, friendly and respectful. Confusing I know. I never heard any friend of mine ever say a negative word about any race. I just never understood the concept.
@ghostlee6434

The divide in this country isn't about the word black and white. It's about one race of people who think another is inferior. You may not had a problem with black people but a lot of people did. You got to remember that this took place less than 10-13 after the civil rights act was passed. Which meant the restaurants, restrooms, hotels and a lot of places had signs up whites only. I've seen my pregnant cousin get her ass beat by police, half of my family went to schools in the south and were beaten spit at and harassed for just wanting an education. And they weren't 10 years old yet. It's easy for some to say get over it when they haven't been through it or still going through it. This country is divided by more than people just saying certain words. It's 2024 and people are still trying to go back to a time when this country was segregated and far to many people are showing their compliance by their silence. Even the Bird magic rivalry back in the day people tried to make it a black versus white battle even without meaning too. Bird was looked at as the savior and magic was the showboating black man even if bird was doing the same no look passes. People just had their revisionist history glasses on Hell over 85% 0f whites polled thought back then that Martin Luther King was destroying the country even labeled him a communist. Just remember when this is taking place and try not to look at it through 2024 lenses
