one of the reasons why I like this show is because everyone's an archetype at the beginning, because Devi sees them as such. Devi starts out pretty selfish, as lot of teen girls are, and she has a lot of room to grow. As the show progresses, Devi becomes more mature and starts seeing people as more than just side characters in her own story.

Spoiler: I don’t think being a little selfish excuses the way Devi treats her friends and others towards the beginning of the series. The way she behaves in S2 was inexcusable but people constantly use the apparently it’s “really relatable” to screw with peoples emotions and mistreat your friends.

@@panashe5268No one excuses her actions. They simply relate to them. That's what was so appealing about this show, no person was morally good or bad, just like teenagers. There's nuance to everyone and they all show growth, we were all a little selfish at that age we all did bad things and 9/10 people called us out on it. And Devis friends called her out on her shit too when it counted. If Devi started out at a goodie two shoes and stayed that way the whole show it would have been boring and it's message would have been pointless.

@@panashe5268I don't think anyone ever said Devi's character is to be excused for her terrible behaviour. Her character was designed to be a terrible teenager who is handling her grief horribly. Who says characters have to be good? Nobody's perfect in real life.

I know the show starts out feeling very stereotypical and dramatic at first but as it progresses it has so much heart. The show started and ended when i started and finished high school and was really comforting for me. But even without that bias it genuinely gets so good. Just stick with it

The reality and the beauty of Never Have I Ever is that almost every character look like an archetype at the beginning because Devi sees them like this, it's her world . For exemple, Paxton is stuck in her head like this amazing heartthrob without flaws, she doesn't see him as more than that. And despite the fact that sje still love her friends, she sees them as losers who needs to change. But more the show goes on, the more we get to see them as who they really are and they are really good character on their own. Also, Devi's developpement on the show is one of the greatest I seen on television.

I mean it's not hard drugs, but there is an association between the god Shiva and weed specifically. There's also a Hindu festival called Holi where it's pretty common to have this drink called bhaang, which has cannabis in it, so it's basically an edible.
