These Sonic movies had no right to be this much fun and so entertaining, especially when the initial trailer and design was so bad, but I'm not complaining because these films are awesome and Im excited for the 3rd movie. Jim Carrey as Dr Robotnik is perfect casting.

This movie is the poster child for why studios need to actually listen to the fans rather than sticking their head in the sand and trying to bully the audience to accept anything thats put in front of them. If they had stuck with the original design it would have been a complete disaster, but this was the only time i can ever think of a studio going "you know what fair point, lets fix it" and it paid off so well Yeah there's a sequel to this already out which is actually even better you should definitely watch, plus there's a 3rd movie and a knuckles tv show coming out this year too

13:34 Sonic not being able to cross the Pacific is not just hilarious, it's a nod to canon Sonic information. He can't swim. Water is his weakness in almost all of the games, I'm just not sure about the one where he can surf. 18:14 And chili dogs are canonically his favorite food. (Knuckles' favorite food is grapes, which he ends up liking in the second movie.)

I honestly think the Sonic Movie was one of the best things to come out of 2020! Can’t wait for Sonic 3 and the Knuckles show later this year!

I don't know the exact details of how they redesigned sonic, but the redesign added an estimated $5 million to the production budget and took around 5 months to complete.

The movies are their own thing and while they do retain some small features from the games, it's entirely its own continuity and takes liberties with the series mythos.

I'm one of those people who didn't think the original trailer sonic looked weird, it looked perfectly normal to me. I just thought people didn't like it because he didn't look accurate, I didn't know that it was also because it freaked them out, because it didn't do that to me.

With all do respect, this movie came out 4 years ago and it was on Netflix 2 years ago after the second movie released.

Although the character's traits and personalities are all pretty much spot-on, most of the lore and background has been re-interpreted or changed for the movies. Don't expect to see a lot of direct connection to the games before the next film. (Plenty of references, though). 1:45 - Rings in the movies are mostly inspired by the Special Zone rings from Sonic 3 rather than the simple collectable Rings from other games. 5:17 - That's actually low mid-range for San Francisco. 8:06 - Jim Carrey is known for throwing himself into a part. When he was developing his persona for Robotnik, he decided that his deal was that he was always ostracized for his supreme intelligence and so he learned at a young age that humans were untrustworthy and that only robots could be relied on. 8:44 - And THIS is why he's called 'Eggman' in this version. 22:42 - Gotta love that one of the switches in his fuse box is labeled 'badniks.' (It's what Robotnik's robot henchmen are called). 23:31 - HE SAID THE THING!!!

Jim Carrey has managed for Dr Robotnik what RDJ did for Tony Stark. He's really made the role completely and permanently his own. And for what it's worth, personality-wise, we at least know Eggman's a great dad.

It's crazy how bad this movie first looked I am so glad they made the changes because the effects are really good now. The performances are wonderful, Sonic was nailed. Both movies are a lot of fun, more than they had any right to be. Super excited for the 3rd film on its way.

I absolutely loved this when it came out! The second one is even better and the third looks promising. I’m a huge Sonic fan so I’m biased but honestly I think they did a great job when it could have been such a train wreck.
