This live performance was in 1964 - color TV was not a thing yet! Also, there was no auto tune available either. What you have here are 2 voices in great harmony (baritone and a 3 octave tenor) and just pure raw talent.

Pure class and talent. Their signature blue eyed soul really shines in ' You'll never walk alone' but anything they do is outstanding.

No one noticed because Cher was not a background singer on the show. She was a background singer on the studio recording but she was never a background singer on Shindig, she an Sonny had already branched out on their own at the time this took place.

The Righteous Brothers are not real brothers. They are Bobby Hatfield - tenor and Bill Medley-baritone. Bobby passed away in 2003. Check out their "You'll Never Walk Alone".

This is "Blue Eyes Soul." Saw the Righteous Brothers: Bobby Hatfield (Blond tenor) & Bill Medley (Baritone), in 1965 at the Community Concourse in San Diego with my high school sweetheart & love of my life, Sharon. At thst time at lot of people thought they were Black. In fact there were quite a few Black folks there. It waa an AMAZING SHOW. They wore tuxedos & had an orchestra. It was FANTASTIC. They are the GREATEST DUO ever. It was a night I will NEVER forget. After the concert was FANTASTIC TOO.😁 Listen to Soul & Inspiration, See That Girl, Brown Eyed Woman, I Just Wan to To Make Love To You. Stuck on You. Little Latin Lupe Lu. HE, Rock n Roll Heaven, Ebb Tide et al

🎉 I was a teenager when this was made and they had it in Good old black & white. Color t.v. Did not come On TV until the seventies I believe I'm not sure but maybe the middle seventies I'm not sure But it was just a couple of more years Before they did away With black And white and started in 2 color. The Entertainers of those years war suits with white shirts. That was Practically a uniform in those days. As you get into the seventies and eighties you get into the jumpsuits like Elvis War Then things started to relax and changed.

This is still the most played song ever on the USA radio stations. Another black n White video made after this song is "Soul and Inspiration". Color TV didn't take off until around 1965 and you can see them sing "You'll Never Walk Alone" in color from the acclaimed Ed Sullivan TV show. They have such amazing vocals together or on the solos they did on every album. For just the recorded version listen to the counter tenor Bobby Hatfield sing "Ebb Tide" or the baritone Bill Medley sing lead on the bluesy "I Wanna Make Love To You". Their library of songs is a treasure chest to listen to. Enjoyed watching you react to the Righteous Brothers & I subscribed.

They actually preceded the James Bond era. They just have class. The Righteous Brothers and the Motown sound were a part of the richness of the 60s and 70s. We had Amazing dances. Nobody worried about guns or violence. BTW, color TV had started to roll out in 1964, but most people didn't have it until 68 or 69.

This was on the weekly Shindig Show where they were regulars and Shindig was still in black & white but that's where the real gems are. Some TV shows switched to color about this time but I don't think Shindig ever did switch. For their hit songs like this they sang live but to the sound track. Righteous Brothers were known for their R&B so if you want to see the wild and funny guys they truly were I'd go thru more of the old Shindig videos which aren't as clear but they are the show stoppers. They're even better with the live Shindig band, backup singers and dancers. If you react to "Little Latin Lupe Lu" make sure it's from the Shindig Pilot Episode. "I Need Your Loving Everyday" Is my favorite Shindig performance and they let it rip.

It was written as a follow-up to the success of this song by the same writers, features the beautiful harmonies of both "brothers", and peaked at #1 for three straight weeks in the US in 1966. There was a time when Bill Medley, the teller man,was dealing with a tragedy in his life and Bobby Hatfield carried on alone. Bill left his home early in the morning to go start a tour. Unbeknownst to him,a man slipped in house assaulted and killed his wife. Bill was called back, was even under suspicion until he was cleared. Very sad I can assure you, this was filmed in the time before color television.

Actually it was his ex-wife and as he was several hundred miles away with their son, he was never under suspicion. It was a home invasion and rape which was finally solved by DNA forty years later. The killer had been killed by police about ten years after the crime. Bill left his singing career for the next five years to be a single dad.

I first heard this song by the Righteous Brothers on the radio when I was 9 years old in late 1964 or early 1965 (turned 10 later that year). Our family used to watch the Righteous Brothers when they appeared on TV variety shows of that era -- The Ed Sullivan Show, Andy Williams Show, American Bandstand with Dick Clark, and Shindig among others. Here are other popular songs by Righteous Brothers Bill Medley (baritone) and Bobby Hatfield (high tenor -- "countertenor") along with The Paramours (pre-Righteous Brothers) that you may want to explore: The Righteous Brothers * (You're My) Soul and Inspiration: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/md2El7Whvrq3ZJc.html * Just Once In My Life: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hp6Imapezsmulas.html * Little Latin Lupe Lu (written by Bill Medley at 19 years old): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/osqGeaZh2bamoas.html * Summertime (Bobby Hatfield solo): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJdgma6K1qyxiIk.html * Ebb Tide (Bobby Hatfield solo): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i-CdrZyFvcfLnH0.html * I Just Want to Make Love to You (bluesy Bill Medley solo): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/i8qppNOj1pqakmQ.html * You'll Never Walk Alone: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rqiEmNx82czWiKs.html * Night Time is The Right Time (Righteous Brothers performing with The Blossoms led by Darlene Love): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bd2CdJyly6vbfKc.html * Brown Eyed Woman (Bill Medley solo; he said that wrote this song about a White man falling in love with a Black Woman. Rumor back then was Darlene Love of The Blossoms; she purportedly broke off relationship because she was worried about it affecting her career): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/htaTeaWYy7_RaWw.html * Rock and Roll Heaven: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hp6Imapezsmulas.html * Something's Go a Hold Me (Bobby Hatfield in lead): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eMlye7t8ua2Rdnk.html * * * The Paramours: Pre-Righteous Brothers (1961-1962 doo-wops) * There She Goes (She's Walking Away) (Bill Medley in lead before Bobby Hatfield joined the group): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jciXqNmgxLSdZo0.html * I Need a Girl (Bill Medley baritone-bass voice in background; song was also written by him. Bobby Hatfield in lead after joining The Paramours in 1962): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y853qsuWlqzSk4E.html

Per Bill Medley (2015, on KAAB Fox San Antonio); They were performing as The Paramours, at a club near El Toro Marine base in CA. Some Black Marines heard there were 2 white guys doing R&B, came to check them out & soon more came. The Marines started calling them "righteous" & "brother(s)", which evolved into calling them "righteous brother(s)." When Bill & Bobby were going to record Little Latin Loopie Lou, they wanted a new name & Bobby suggested they use the name the Marines called them.

The studio version took multiple takes…According to Bill, they did the first verse alone about 25 times. It took about 8 hours over 2 days to lay down the vocals.

Just know when listening to this music, you are aware that it twists the truth of Love. This type of music is deception in that it claims love to be a emotion or a feeling. God's love is sacrificial, giving oneself for the betterment of someone else. This is a selfish and destructive form of love. Destroying families throughput the decades. Know the difference!
