For the ignition on these trucks, yes you need the key in order to pull it out normally. However, you can actually just drill out the key tumbler, go to the parts store and get a new tumbler for the tuck and pop it in like normal. I had to do that with mine. Its pretty easy to do as well.
@brandonfloyd6321
@brandonfloyd6321 Жыл бұрын
Guy I got my 78 truck from the reason he sold it didn't know how to put the tumbler in correctly and he put it in and it stayed in the start position and he drove it like that. Luckily the starter teeth were softer than the flywheel. I bought it without being able to start it. a $25 starter and installing the ignition cylinder correctly I've driven it like 5 years now. Lol

I really like the way Craig takes pride in cleaning up these old vehicles, and we must have close to the same taste as I love old Ford trucks, and fox body cars in general. I can't wait to see this done and put to work. Also hats off to Dylan for helping you guys out with the truck.

This is a fun watch. I am currently working on a 1965 F100 that has been off the road since at least 2004 and was left abandoned in the back yard of an acquaintance of mine. It has been one of the most exciting and frustrating thing I have ever done. I just finished a full engine rebuild on the old 300 inline 6, now I am on to rebuilding the 3 speed manual transmission. Still so much work to do but can see the end of it coming soon.

I can really relate to watching you guys doing your archeological dig through the cab - loved that part of the video. I have a 78 crew 4WD that was originally bought new by a local logging company based in Woodland, here in SW Washington State. They used it as a crummy and welded a tow bar bracket to the front of the frame. These trucks were produced in Windsor Canada (at least mine was) by altering a single cab, hence the propensity to rust in the drip rails. Not only are the bench seats identical, so is the side window glass. In fact the rear doors are essentially just front doors without wing windows. I think they also used van hinges instead. In any case I cleared out the entire cab for a repaint, and my big surprise was finding two one-hundred dollar bills neatly folded and hidden under the factory rubber floor carpeting. They were printed in the early 1980's. I wish now I hadn't spent them, but at the time of my project that paid for all the paint.
@TheKiltedYaksman1

Pull the carpet out, power wash it, then use your shop vac to extract the water. Take out the floor mat, then scrub the bare floor and bleach it. That will kill most of the smell.

12:35 Just some input on old tapes, that tape will sell for some good money online like ebay. Probably $20-25 for every sealed Type II cassette, especially Maxell and TDK. Type III and Metal cassettes if you come into those, that gets into real money for what you're selling. Type II probably around $40, and metal tapes can sell upwards of $100-250 sealed. Make sure to keep an eye out for those, and don't just throw em away. Capable of great sound and they don't make em anymore. People buy up old tape stock like mad. Even if you find used recorded tapes, but good tapes, just run them past an erase head and sell em for $10 less as used, they still sell. Highly recommend anyone who does revivals on old cars where they come by these to do a lil research on em, and make sure to always grab em Saving something thats no longer made, and gettin a little extra money to put back into the car along with. Also, some companies buy and re use working 70s-90s era Cassette tape players as hardware of that quality is simply not made anymore. So they'll buy old, bring it back with some tlc, and repackage it as a new product. So make sure to keep those as well.
@WalnutSpice

I mean do what ya do lmao, just tapes. But after ya find a bunch if you get a good stack of stuff, I mean hell could be a quick $1,000 from just pulling shit out of old cars and throwing it online

I was horrified when he threw it in the trash. I know he is young, but he has a lot of old cars. He must know that tape players were very common and are useful today. And a sealed high quality tape like that is a major score. I'd be recording cruising around music on it. Or having his grandpa do it.

A Craftsman wrench, originally "back in the day" if you wore out a Craftsman tool you could take it to a Sears store and trade it for a new one. I watched my dad several times back on the 70s swap out tools my grandfather purchased back in the 30s. They were great tools and my grandfather and father used their tools daily and it took a lot of wear and tare to wear them out.I still have all those tools and my dad's upright tool chest that holds them 😀

Oh and by the way Craig i subscribed to your channel so I can see what else you do to this truck and how it fairs at Holley Ford fest. You are right about those plastic liners first thing I pulled out of mine and luckily i had not rusted just painted to make sure and it has a solid steel bed. Good idea pulling the dash pad off too. Hi Soddy, The alternator and the multimeter color red No brand. It's worth a try to get to read the 14 voltages from the volt meter display. If the alternator and the battery reads with the lead points touching the battery posts x 2, It could be bad or high as 25 volts or higher. Check for a price of the Alternator in O'Reilly. The price comes from Rebuild at Parts Geek for only Remy-Delco remanufactured at a price range between $67.55 US dollars up to $110.00 plus return the core charge and no money back. So throw it away and ask the O' Reilly to keep a box and don't ask for money at the O'Reilly. O'Reilly can moth ball some of the recycle/salvageable the parts including old alternator into long gone. You have two choice Parts Geek or the other? There is a yoke for holding the bottom of the solid case alternator over there under your hood of the F250 truck and you'll see the long hinge and short hinge that bracket up the alternator. Overall, you saw just one alternator or a new one per truck pick up. The Chrysler alternator for AG long truck Four seater pick up F250 is a caged case alternator that shall fit into the mount of the Ford rusted truck. It depends on similar to the stock alternator comparation. Bye.
