Thank you for saving this piece of history. Far too many classics sit for decades with owners that wish they could restore them but will never have the means to do so and the vehicle rots away.

True. The Grandfather of a friend of mine had a 1930's Lagonda on stands in his barn. (UK) During the winter, he would place a paraffin-kerosene sump heater under it to stop it freezing. It was covered in blankets too, so I never saw anything other than the front. I'm sure he meant to work on it, but his health was failing. I lost touch decades ago. I wonder where it is now. Scrapped, or Glorious.

1950 Chevy, 1940 Plymouth 1959 Ford, 1968 Chevy, 1963,64 Plymouth, 1962 VW, 1968 Datsun, 1970 Triump. All these cars had enamel paint. The optional paint for some cars was lacquer which was hard paint, no flex, didn't expand or contract and though it had more luster it was a problem as it aged. Later is when acrylic enamel showed up.
@jamesmeegan92849 күн бұрын
That statement is not 100 percent true...Chevrolet was using Lacquer as early as 1923. In fact, if you do some research You may understand that LACQUER was a very forgiving paint due to its ability to repair and repaint.

It was dark and I was asleep between my parents.It was dark,Dad was driving.I had my head on my mother's lap,lo and behold there was a cow standing broad side in our lane.I wound up in the floorboard,with a big ol goose egg on my head. More precise? I'm sorry but no... A lot of this hand fitting was "sloppy" they're certainly great cares but today's fitment is better off the line and engines and transmissions are lasting far longer... Probably wouldn't want to use water, let alone a pressure washer on old single stage paint. Single stage paint is very thin, also water can get into small cracks in the paint where it can't be dried off, leading to rust bubbles and rust forming on the steel. Very clean and complete though, treasure it.

I had the identical car to this one in the Oldsmobile model. I bought it from a junkyard for $125 and the fellow who ran it said the lady who brought it and said no one had ever sat in the backseat. It was in pristine condition, it ran like Swiss watch and was the sweetest car I ever owned. I made the mistake of loaning into my brother-in-law who ran out of gas in the middle of nowhere and abandoned it and I never saw it again. 48 years later and I’m still bummed about that.

The car, covered in hay and bird droppings, has undamaged paintwork and nickel-plated parts without traces of corrosion...I willingly believe it! (Sarcasm!)
