It is the first week of school! I feel like I have been back at school FOREVER, but I am so grateful for another "first week" in my teaching journey. We go through ALL the emotions in this video--feeling nervous, excited, scared, emotional... truly all the things. The first week back is always really hard and I have learned that it is okay if things do not go perfectly. It takes time for things to feel like you can manage a routine, something I am going to really work on going into this week. If you are a teacher, I would love to hear about how your week went! You are the sweetest teacher ever I missed the frist week of school because I had to go to the mental hospital because my mental health was so bad but you made me get the help I needed I also went through a school shooting to !

Would you be able to share more about what your classroom management looks like when you come across students with behavior issues or students who become disruptive, and maybe share how you do guided notes? I teach 8th grade ELA and I'd love to see what guided notes look like in a fellow middle school ELA classroom!

I can relate so much to you! You give me comfort.✨I’m student teaching this year and my anxiety is up the roof! I keep thinking “I’m not doing good enough.” I began to reflect, and I think the reason I feel this way is because I care so much! I want to be the best teacher for all my future kiddos! I miss teaching so much!! I was blessed with a promotion and now am a coordinator for elementary, but I prefer being in a classroom. It just makes me happy!

I am actually lucky. I already know most of my students and they know me. It's one of the perks of teaching at a super small school. My kids come tomorrow night for open house and classes start Tuesday.

Britt, I am completely feeling the same when you talk about struggling with adjustment! Someone told me once that it would get easier, but it's my third year and it feels like I'm just starting over again...hoping each week gets a bit more "normal!"

One is planning and one is a study hall, but I didn’t have kids yet! Our schedule is new this year and instead of 90 minutes classes each day, they are shorter, buuuut we do block twice a week with the longer periods!

We used to have two planning periods, man I miss that. Now we do lunch duty or a 6th class. You used to get paid extra for those things. 😫

I think slides will work too. Personally, I think slides are versatile. If you choose to use slides, in addition to their own, private deck, each student could choose one slide to share in the class deck and call it something like This is Us.

First of all yay a knew video from who I shall now refer to as my favorite teacher even though she was never my teacher because she is my favorite teacher. Second of all I must have an answer to something that has been bugging me. Was the matcha cold drink with sugar better than the one without sugar?? I have been wondering this for like 3 years now since I watched the video about the first week of school, but there was never an answer. Also if you can could we also maybe perhaps be a part of the wedding stuff too. I know we all dont know each other face to face, but your subs have all come to adore you and if possible would also like to be a part of such a beautiful journey of such a beautiful person have learned to love and admire so much. That is if you would like and what you would want to share.

Hello! Thank you! I do remember that matcha drink and they were honesty both not the best hahah. I prefer a matcha from a coffee shop over a canned one!

@@fivefootoneteacher YES!! I finally have an answer. I have never tried Matcha. I'm a decaf coffee type of 20 year old. Also don't feel pressured about posting a video. I know teaching a lot of kids can be very exhausting as well as editing so only post when you want to and when your not tired so that you can rest well.
