So glad you did this. I could go on forever. Simply one of it not at times the greatest tracks of all time, pardon the pun, by a band that the world needs to know about but no doubt will remain a secret. I'm not sure if even Floor or Janis rest her soul could better the raw emotion of those vocals by Jari. Many say Tuomas counts his blessings that he has Floor in the band. But he is indeed more than fortunate to have Kai and Jukka onboard. Wintersun are immense.

I found Wintersun via the Nightwish Army. The first song I listened to was "Sons of Winter and Stars", which you should react to next, IMO. It took about four listens before I stopped trying to analyse what was going on and just enjoy the music for what it is. I've bought two of their albums. I don't particularly like growling, but you can hear the words when Jari does it, and he puts so much emotion into it. The other growler with fantastic clean vocals, that I also found via the Army, is Devin Townsend. I can recommend "DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT - Deadhead (Live at Royal Albert Hall)" as a first listen.

Time is a great track - but if you want to see Kai working MUCH harder watch the track Sons of Winter & Stars from the same session. Jari, the founder and singer is missing a good part of one lung having caught TB when doing his National Service.

Wait till you get to Amorphis and Poets Of The Fall. Highly strong male vocals you are gonna like im sure. Amorphis has those death metal growls and the smoothest clear vocals mixed.

The singer is the finnish mastermind Jari Mäenpää and their songs are often kinda melancholic, maybe portraying the finnish mindset (sorry all Finns) 😉 He went through a surgery and had to remove one of his loungs due to tuberculosis 20 years ago, but that doesnt stop him from doing great technical music. Great reaction. 👍

This song is so intense and just plain epic. I have been meaning to play it for my daughter - who I am proud to say is into hard rock and metal - but I have to wait for just the right time. This is not a song to be taken lightly! :)

Great reaction to one of the greatest bands IMO. Amazingly complex, beautiful, and epic music. I think the songs from the Time album are composed of 200 to 300 tracks. Sons of Winter and Stars from the same session is incredible and even more epic. One of my other favorites is Winter - Loneliness from the Forrest Seasons album (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p6-ZjamhtLfSlGw.html). Jari wrote it about the passing of his father while he was making the album. As only a Finn can, he perfectly captures the atmosphere and sense of isolation of winter in a forest (grew up in Vermont so it really hits home for me, much like Quiet as the Snow from All the Works of Nature that Adorns the World does). Another related song you should listen to is from Jari's previous band Enisferium, Lai Lai Hei. There is no video with Jari as the singer, because he was fired before they started touring, so just the studio version (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q6uhpsmKsbjVdJc.html) but it is such an epic medieval questing song. There are some live versions with the band after Jari left. Live at Wacken in 2018 (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o5eKicih08vQhnk.html) where some of the audience sits down is acting like they are rowing a Viking longboat and an acoustic version (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bb6Enpd-2NjanX0.html).

Some funfacts 🤗 Jari Maenpaa the leadsinger/composer is a multiinstrumentalist, and he plays all the instruments, that we don't see. One number can easely contain more than a thousand tracks, wich Jari edits himself, with a ton of work behind it 🤗 He also suffered a serious lungillness when he was inlisted in the Finnish army, and that cost him perhaps 25%of his lungcapacity 🤗 Teemu, the second guitarist, also called the black Manta, is also an phemomenal guitarplayer and has been leadguitarist for the last five or six years, and they had Aseem Seerah as secondguitarist, as Jari would rather concentrate on his singing, than the guitar, also because he became sore in his neck and back, while playing. But just recently Aseem left the band for any reason that i don't know 🤗 So maybe Jari will pick up playing again 😄

This band makes me proud of being a Finn. Jari Mäenpää is multitalented. The music of WS has so many levels you need to really listen to it.

This is a brilliant song which helped me through a very dark time. I lost my sister in January 2020... just before Covid and I screamed the lyrics as I have just done today. Glad you got some of the rain. It got close here but yet not a drop. Haven’t had measurable amount since June 3. Not a bad band. You can see why Tuomas has used this as a feeder of musicians now. I think this video was recorded close to the time it came out in 2012.

I was watching the cans and was like "i have only little set O_O" Tama brand :). I also have acoustic guitar and keyboard but mi wanna practice with the keyboard as i get it set somewhere =D. now it is under one table on it's stand tho =). as i got drums i did ask from neighbour "do i play too loud?" he was heavy guy and was "keep rocking girl!" =D i really say LORDI and the Get Heavy album did safe my life at that point... Nightwish and song Nemo i did practice my voice back to normal range from one surgery to throath, singing the high notes like crow must have been fun for those who did listen =D and other songs too, btw, The Phantom Of The Opera (2004) i went to watch in movies 8 times... i got popcorn for free at once i think =D. Just came to mind from suesue =D. Wulfie, i vuv your furr says mine pupper side =D so fluffy O_O. Hugs and snuggles to wuffers!

I would suggest EVERGREY for another great band to give a listen, they have a calab with Floor “ In Orbit “ most Floor fans start off with that track but they are a really a great band They are another European band (Swedish) that does not get enough exposure Anything from them is a keeper Tom also has a Project call “ Silent Skies “with Vicram from Redemption which Tom also sings with if they need a singer , Tom’s soulful voice it beautiful in the striped back music they Play Floor has a interview with Tom about Mental Health on her YT channel.
