As long as its consentual i dont see the issue. Some guys literally just want company for dinner no strings attached. Obviously you gotta avoid seeing them again or they can't help wanting more. If the guy is looking for more than company (eg dating to see if theres something there) then yeah its rude.

I know, right? I find "Hollywood Gleaming Teeth" to be too perfect; too glossy. A woman's *unique* smile makes her beautiful, as an individual. Pointy teeth, overbite, no matter. It's very much like her laugh - a signature. If her smile isn't like anyone else's, it's even more of a treasure. 💖

I think in this thread people are firing a lot of unfair criticism her way. The nervous giggle about dating a lot in London, never getting anywhere, but at least she got dinner, was her way of compensating for how insecure it made her feel to not date successfully. I really don’t think she meant sincerely that throw away comment at all. As for changing her perfectly decent teeth (at huge expense) because of the cruel arrogance of a casual date, to me it shows how troubled and vulnerable this young lady is (the fact she was convinced Mr Dublin didn’t really like her merely amplifies this). She’s beautiful and sweet and he’s handsome and seems kind and genuine. I wish them both well.

If u know u won’t see them again romantically I don’t think you should let men pay for you imo! Not that letting men means you as a woman owe them anything (eg some bedroom action), but it could suggest there will be another date in Future where they will have chance to pay for the dinner returning the favour! I don’t think men should be obliged to pay anyways even if there’s a second date on card. Both men and women work jobs today Sorry for rant lol

That's why you take a girl out on "coffee" dates. I've learned this from personal experience. Taking multiple girls out on dates a week can get very expensive if you are running dinner dates. So many reasons not to either.

It varies from culture to culture. I prefer to pay separately. Specially for first dates because if it goes wrong, then it would be embarrassing to reject someone who payed for you. To me, it's nonsense to pay for someone you don't know yet. I would be ok to invite or be invited later if the relationship becomes serious. I remember I met a Romanian woman in Belgium once and she told me that Belgian men are rude and stingy because they pay separately. I said here it's just normal otherwise you wouldn't be considered as an independent woman ! 😅

I actually noticed the cultural difference with Brits and Irish dealing with Americans and drinking. If i said to a Brit I went to the pub 3 times a week and had 5 pints - its no big deal. The Americans, however, thought it was crazy to be going out 3 times a week.

Yeah, for me, the boyfriend experience is that we don't go out to eat often. This guy found her hot and then everything she did was like "oh yay, another plus." They don't know anything about each other really. Her confidence is wrecked from dating and prob other things. I can see her at 30 reflecting on "this phase of [my] journey."

Trust me, older men in my experience are not more intelligent and they do not know how to treat you at all, except badly. Age is not a magic bullet, a panacea that brings courtesy, wisdom and consideration. I'm not sure why these two were matched, he seems borderline alcoholic and he seems untrustworthy, just something off about him, and whilst she is undoubtedly attractive and elegant, I suspect she might want an older man as she thinks (wrongly) that they have money to spend.

I have heard and seen from multiple sources, experienced it myself as well, about modern women seeing and using 90% men as a end to their means. Free food, free attention, free protection, free s** are the primary commodity. As for the top 10%, or less, they see them as "the one" or the one they want to get married with but can never. Times have changed. This isn't the day and age when our grand parents dated.
