The first clip of the fishermen catching a mermaid was from a animal planet fake documentary on mermaids called mermaids the body found. So that’s the reason it’s really well edited.

If anyone is curious, the reason why they're pouring water on the beached whale is because of their blubber. If they're not kept cool until proper help arrives, they'll overheat and lose too much water cause of evaporation from their lungs.

"What looks to be a real mermaid skeleton." It clearly looks mostly plastic. The tiny skull is the only thing that looks like it could be real, but it wouldn't look so clean in the water. That's a skull that's been sun bleached. In the water, it'd have more moss on it, some flesh would still be there, and it would look like fish had been picking at it.
@dud3655
@dud3655 Жыл бұрын
Also, there is zero fucking chance a skeleton that complex would still be articulated in those conditions. There's zero flesh on the thing, it should have been there for months if not years, the bones would be falling apart in the first month.
@blondbraid7986
@blondbraid7986 Жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly, they clearly bought a cheap plastic mermaid skeleton meant as a halloween decoration, but the skull presumably looked too fake ever for their standards, so they used a different skull clearly picked up somewhere else.

I can confirm, I’m pretty sure that’s a Michaels mermaid skeleton with a different skull attached. The heads they come with are janky-looking, usually have fake hair glued on, and have a noticeable hole in the top so they can hang from a string. I have one that I use as a phone stand.

Why you need to keep whales wet after breaching: "Cetacean stranding often leads to death due to dehydration. Whales have an incredibly thick layer of insulating blubber. Without the water to keep them cool, they overheat and lose too much water via evaporation from their lungs." - Luis Villazon Some organizations won't let you try and move the animal without them getting involved- also it is incredibly to move them just with a small group and without equipment. So keeping the animal wet in the meantime is very helpful. Also soaking towels and placing it on the animal is great too to protect their skin from the sun.
@DroneGardenStudios
@DroneGardenStudios Жыл бұрын
To add on to the "don't move them" thing, if a cetacean has stranded then its most likely sick or injured. Moving them around or pushing them back in the ocean will stress them out, and - since the reason they stranded themselves is still present - they'll just strand themselves again. The best care you can give a stranded cetacean is to call whatever your state's stranding network is, keep crowds away from the animal, keep them moist so they don't overheat or get sunburned, make sure water doesn't get in their blowhole, and dig holes around their fins to relieve pressure since their fins usually droop down. Don't get bit or tail slapped either, that will ruin your day. Source - me, former stranding network volunteer.

One was an orphan, one was a shark attack victim, and I think the third one had a lung infection but I can't remember cuz this was awhile ago. My main role was to get up at three in the morning and watch them for four hours to make sure they didn't drown in their sleep while they were in rehab. Probably doesn't sound as cool as the stranding in the video, but it was cool to me dammit. T_T

Since no ones mentioned it in the first few dozen comments, ambergris IS a thing used in perfumes, it’s whale puke. Sometimes people find globs of it floating around the ocean. It’s waxy, so it floats. I think it’s also one of the many things people used to hunt whales for.

Well....tbh Mermaids in a lot of artwork have webbed hands...and sometimes they have scales all over their body... Sometimes they have gills and like thos big webbed ears. They can even have legs just webbed with some...see-through fins or webs or whatever poking out of said legs...they can have long claws or talons or shark teeth....it honestly depends on what your given artist wants to go for. They are mythological creatures so no one really OWNS the depiction and tales so it's free-for-all. They can be an allegory for unrequited homosexual love or just your regular princess with happy ending or a man-eating monster...
