I mean, you can’t really here whales above water, but underwater you very much can! Their calls travel through the water for long distances, and the deeper you go in the water, the louder the calls are! I was in Hawaii early this year and while swimming at a beach, I could hear whale calls very clearly. It was very cool and sounded just absolutely beautiful! You can hear them within a few miles even, and hearing them in person is like nothing else. It’s definitely a very alien like sound to just hear out of nowhere.😅

My favorite part of visiting Hawaii was getting to just splash into the water at the beach and hear whales talk to each other. They are chatting nonstop down there, I want to know what they're saying so bad!

Some whales sonars are so loud it can actually paralyze you. I think sperm whales are notorious for this cause they can focus their clicks in a narrower range to try and get a better picture of you in the water. They also sleep “standing” up.

The catfish could also have vitiligo- without seeing it from a hatchling, or studying it over years, it can be really hard to tell the difference!

Same, that's what I was thinking. The way it is only really on its back where it doesn't move as much might have some merit.
@unlimon6382

Well vitiligo mostly develops in the places that have more contact or use with another places, as they renovate more the skin. In that way having the tail or stomach white makes sense, but I don't think stuff would make so much contact around the eyes of a catfish and the top of its mouth could be white too

Sea spiders come into saltwater aquariums occasionally as hitchhikers on corals and rock. But I doubt most regular enthusiasts would WANT to keep them. I think a lot of the shallow water ones have a nasty habit of being obligate coral eaters. Which, if you're trying to keep a reef tank, isn't the best guest to have. And even if not, most people aren't going to want or can afford to keep buying/fragging new coral for them to munch on.

Catfish at 5:15 is a recessive mutation called piebald (pied) its extremely popular in the reptile trade, but fish can also be born with it. The gene affects the pigmentation of the skin and is never mirrored, it's possible to get 90% of one color and a little spot of the other or 50/50, ect. Piebald fish are actually extremely rare both in the wild and captivity. Catfish, carp, and even several species of Gar have been recorded with the mutation.

"Hey man, I'm looking at your resume... And I'm wondering what exactly 'fish masseuse' means." In regards to the Whale sound question, we have to remember that sound is a series of waves that hit your body and you only hear it because your ears are able to interpret those waves. Sounds that are as loud as what whales make have waves so large and impactful that you can't interpret it without machinery, this is also why people who free dive with humpback whales literally get heated up by the sound waves impacting them and creating friction. (this is a very simplified explanation, everything I said is so basic that you still should look it up yourself to get an actual understanding)

arapaima often live in mud puddles not much bigger than themselves during dry spells. The reason the arapaima(s) was in that little canal area is probably because the wild ones are endangered so they are being farmed to try to save them. The way it jumped over the net is very normal for them and there is lots of videos of them doing this in farms. Im pretty sure they do it in the wild also but iv not seen any videos of that

7:00 I actually have a theory about these videos. I’m gonna suspend my disbelief and say they are real, but I don’t think that the whole process is shown. I think this is a fish trap in which during wet season, the trappers build a catfish nest, somewhere that will be completely underwater during dry season. Eventually, the water goes back down during dry season and the fish are cut off from the river, still in the nest trap.

The last Tiktok of the sleepy Seal/Sea lion was really cute and it didn't help that Zak was doing a voice I'd normally do when talking to a cute animal like a dog, but it made me remember a weird continuous thought I had when I was younger where I legitmately thought Seals and Sea lions didn't have fur as they look so smooth and that if you pet them it would just feel like skin which now looking back is pretty funny. And I'm now imaging rubbing a Seal/Sea lion up and down when petting it and basically messing up it's coat and putting it back to normal with each stroke.

The teacher next door to my class has a fish tank. It’s very very small (like a metre tall and long). It used to have the little neon fish and a Dalmatian fish but the neons died (unsurprisingly) and now it’s just the lonely Dalmatian. They HAVNT bought food for it in days so I can’t feed it(I take care of it since nobody else does) it has no hiding spots, no real plants, it’s always dirty and the kids don’t even like it. So I asked the teacher “what will you do when it dies?” She said “get a goldfish” and I said “you’re just gonna keep buying fish and letting them die of neglect? That’s animal abuse” and I kid you not, she shrugged her shoulders and said “mhmm” I also asked one time if she killed fish as a joke and she said “only out of neglect” like bitch what? Nobody likes/cares for the fish, let alone acknowledge its existence, so why have it at all?

5:24 , the term you are looking for is piebald. Lueistic, melanistic, and albino animals are that one color over their whole body. Their are a few exceptions for lueistic and melanistic animals, but these exceptions are due to pre existing spots or stripes that that species has, and those would never be white in color. Piebald is actually relatively common in deer, or so I've heard. Edit, literally 5 seconds later someone brought it up in chat lol.
