Took out Butter Boat 2.0 for one of the first times of the season. Had four crab pots to drop and let them soak for about three hours at a time. Ended up catching this the first time.... Dropped them again and went fishing, then ended up with this catch.... What do you think happened?

Here in the Virgin Islands 🇻🇮 some folks secure fishhooks on the ropes about 4 feet from the crab pots. The hooks are secured with the points facing downwards. A would be poacher would begin to pull up the pot to only be surprised at the last four feet of the rope. If they are lucky enough, they would escape with minor injuries. If YOU are lucky enough, you may not find any crabs in your pot, but the poacher will still attached to your line when you come to check out your catch. It’s cruel but so is stealing and for that,we don’t really have a poaching problem anymore .

A reel is basically a winch. You use your dominant hand to wind. If you’re right handed you use your right hand to hammer, turn a winch, sharpen a pencil with a manual sharpener, use a screwdriver, write, etc. that’s why you’ll see commercial and professional fisherman use right sided conventional reels. Newer fisherman learn to use a spinning reel that is left sided because of the how it is set up and when they transition think the conventional reels are suppose to be on that side as well. Spinning reels are faced downward and spin horizontally. I guess it’s how you’re taught or how you learn. If you’re right handed and want to use your left hand for reeling more power to you. It’s pretty much your preference. You can also throw a ball with your left hand if you want.

Hi. I am an experienced fresh water and gulf coast fisherman but moved out to the bay area a several years ago. I am going to start teaching my 3 year old about fishing and we have been watching your videos since fishing in the Ocean is a bit different than what I have experienced. I think your channel is great. The only thing I can think of that would make it better is if you had a playlist where all of the videos were in chronological order so we can watch how you learned fishing in the bay area.
