The Mackenzie Country of New Zealand is big Country - scenery that takes your breath away, stars that you feel like you could reach out and touch in the sky and massive Trout that have to be seen to be beleived. It has long been on my hit list of places I want to fish and finally the time has come.
We teamed up with Simon McMillan and Jeremy Burke from Hunting & Fishing New Zealand, loaded up with Hunting & Fishing New Zealand exlusive Daiwa New Zealand Canal Combos and headed off on a very special adventure to try and do battle with some of the giants of the Canals. #builttofish #fishing #trout #NZ

I have visited the Canals...(without much success) and watched MANY videos on the area, but this is by far the best video I have watched Thank you very much. P.S...love your stores.

Been there done that and I have to recommend it, but man you will walk some Kilometers serious Kilometers but also the comradery and social aspect as well its like going to a test match where the whole stadium is playing as well.

Beautiful country with some amazing trout !! Have you tried drift bobbers ? They work great for steelhead in the Pacific Northwest and would be perfect for the canals.

Terrific scenery but rather disappointing that you didn't cover off any info that an aspiring Canal fisherman would have found helpful eg what type of rod/reel, braid/mono strength & the actual leader setup.

Thanks for your comment mate - I was happy to be shown the ropes by a mate who also happens to be a guide. Each year he introduces lots of people to a new passion - I'm not gonna knock him or anyone who chooses to fish with him for that.
