With hot summer days, night fishing for Whiting becomes a great option. In this episode we head to Caloundra, on the Sunshine Coast to chase a feed of the popular table fish.
Using bloodworms for bait and our trusty Alvey Reels matched to Gary Howard Breambo rods we get stuck into a few.

Thanks, David. It never gets old - still one my favourite forms of fishing by far. Lots of low tide exploration is the key to finding a good patch of bloodworms.

Merry Christmas, Chris! Dad wrote for QFM for 10 years between ‘96 and ‘06. Did we really? Did we catch any bream? 🤣

Yes mate,this was back when the brite yellow dye for plastics had just been released, now if the story is correct you had a bottle on your bed and the story was it did spill, so the bed had a nice GARLIC as well. @@WL_Outdoors

I dig mine closer to home in Brisbane but I’m sure there would be spots in the northern Passage

Do you dig the worms from up there as well?

No, I dig them around Brisbane only for convenience's sake. I have heard of people digging them in the passage.

Hi Peter, I'm assuming your comment is around the legal-size limit? The fish we caught in this clip are Silver Javelin or Small Spotted Grunter and have a minimum size of 30cm. Their close relative (which is also caught in the passage), the Barred Javelin or Spotted Grunter need to be 40cm. So what's the idea behind using the Alvey's??
@WL_Outdoors
@WL_Outdoors 7 ай бұрын
I love them. Good for casting lightly weighted baits, nice slow retrieve and you can easily feed line back to a fish when it bites.
