Hunting and fishing first and foremost for the majority of those that pursue wild game and fish here in NZ is about providing food for our loved ones and selves. We provide for people who we know do not have the means to provide for themselves. This natural act is slowly being eroded away by a new world that tries to make us eat less meat and eat more processed food. Teaching our young generation the importance of hunting, gathering, fishing, and growing is as important as teaching them maths and English in my books.
One day when I am too old or sick to paddle my kayak I hope there will be someone who from time to time will drop me off the occasional fish or piece of wild pork but in the meantime, while I am still able I will keep providing for those around me what I can as it is the most rewarding and natural feeling in the world.
If you enjoyed this video and would like to see more you can contribute a little to my work and watch extra content and all early releases first here on my Patreon plus exclusive videos

That's what I used to do all the time when I fished, I would catch about 50 each day, and give them away to different people around town. If I ever caught anything real big, I would take it to where there were a bunch of guys I worked with and give it to them.

I feel ya pain on that rod clay. Last year I had a 1100 $ outfit sitting in the rod holder with a lure about 10m from the bottom while I was rigging up at mates rod. A Big fish hit the lure, I had the drag too tight for the rod holder and it snapped in half taking the whole combo over the side in 50m of water leaving me with only the butt section of the rod. I wasn’t too happy that day because the reel I lost was a Trinidad 10a and you cant get them no more. At least you got to keep your reel!! Those jig star rods go for about 350-400. Stings doesn’t it mate.

Id be taking the Jigstar rod to a tackle shop to see if they could put male/female ferrule on each piece to join it like a 2-3 piece surf rod. Shouldnt hurt the action too much and will make it much easier to transport.
