Overcast and grey here in Noosa this morning. A 6 to 8 knot north westerly blowing at the river mouth and a small sloppy swell on the bar. Lots of boats heading out. BOM forecast is for north to north westerly winds 10 to 15 knots turning east to north easterly below 10 knots in the early afternoon. Seas: Around 1 metre. Swell: Easterly around 1 metre inshore, increasing to 1 to 1.5 metres offshore. Filmed between 5.30am and 7.25am which was roughly an hour before a 2.04m high tide. Background Music: 'Six Seasons'... by Unicorn Heads.

That guy with the trim up is endangering other people. If you can't figure out you have too much trim up to see where u are going. You probably shouldn't tackle the Noosa bar.

100%, two up the front meant the boat was well balanced in weight

That stacer gave me a kniption. The the bozzo in the fire and rescue NSW work shirt heads forward and it makes no difference. Trim your outboard fella.

Crossfire 449 is little too small for big wave, and its captain also trim up way too much. Dangerous ride. Glad to see no accident.

Looking at it carefully, it must just be a shitty design boat because take note of the writing on the side, It's perfectly flat when the boat is moving forward.

@6m30sec. A good lesson for all. Look for the calm water. It doesn't have to be the supposive main channel that you use as it is always changing. ...The same on nearly all barways.

I went out the Noosa bar never again. Another screw up by council egged on by developers. Changed the mouth of a river for Hastings street development. Sand is now coming around the headland and settling in the mouth of the river. Go up to 1770, nearly the same setup but natural. No problems.

What’s that little glass boat heading out seen from the drone? Seems to do well. Not a Haines 400 prowler? 6:38 in

The crossfire 449 skipper should practise this by himself before taking passengers... Trim the outboard better and you won't need bodies up the front waiting for a spinal injuries.. Also, life jackets for everyone, when crossing a coastal bar.

How frustrating! Watching that master with his motor trimmed incorrectly. The following reasons: 1. He's forgotten to trim down after launch. 2. He's fitted the wrong size motor. 3. Just got a licence, first boat, first time on the boat/water so let's take it out across a bar. I suspect this because the kids life jackets looked brand new. The concerning observation was that the master clearly knew the boat wasn't trimmed right because he stuck thr children on the bow. Which is the worst position you could put someone let alone crossings a known bar. Dangerous operation right there.... This is where more should be done during the buying process, but then again, it's hard to teach common sense when it's clearly not that common. Let me know which number you think it is? Or even all of the above!!! I hope they all returnef ssfely. PS: Maybe MSQ's safety team could take a leaf out of your book and do some filming at known bar crossings and provide advice latter in the day to boaters who put life's at risk. Just a thought!

To me that boat looked underpowered and probably over propped. The motor doesn’t appear to have the torque to lift the stern out of the water at lower revs. I re-powered my boat from a 75 to a 90 for the same reason. When I took it for a water test before I bought it, the first thing I noticed was the boat was over propped as well. The difference in my boat going from 75 to 90 was considerable. Cheaping out on a smaller motor is definitely a false economy.

That’s a factory fitted motor, quintrex know what hp and prop to put on it. Has to be trimmed poorly and capt error

I’ve got the same 449 crossfire with a 70 Yamaha on it and struggles to get up on the plane with 2 blokes and gear on it. They are only rated to a 75hp anyway. Personally I think that it’s a bad engineering design for it to only be allowed a 75 considering it’s rated for a 5 person boat. I love the boat when I’m out by myself and calm but with anyone else I wish I bought some bigger with a better motor set up

@@johnwalker8541 Have you tried a hydrofoil? The hydrofoils do allow a boat to generate more lift.
