In this video, we install even bigger tyres as an experiment also go gain extra ground clearance from the lowest point under the vehicle.

Use a scale. The BFG is about 5 kg per tire heavier than other tires. Its s great tough tire but it increases the unsprung weight. The suzuki has a small vehicle with a small everage engine. Dont overload it with too big a tire. Once again do a real check with a scale

Thanks for the comparision. Very interesting. I am thinking of getting 30/9.5 r 15 instead o 235/75 15. I am wondering about the gera retio though, wheter it will require gearing in low range. Please let us know after some time i you are happy:0

The 30’s will definitely affect your low range gearing, you will have to use gear 1 where you would use gear 2, like in sand.

Awesome video!! Do you think I can get away with all terrain 30"s on a 20mm lift? Its almost stock height but I have changed my fornt bumper. I dont think it'd be an issue on the front. I've seen a lot of stock height jimnys with 235s and I was wondering if my 20mm lift springs could be of some help to fit the 30"s. If not, I think id go with mud 235s. Still trying to decide. Thnks!!

In my personal opinion, I don’t think so, all the guys I know who have 30’s or higher have lifts higher than 50mm, and when I say I don’t think it will fit, im talking about fitting them without having to cut so you have them without them rubbing at full flex. Also if you don’t modify your high and low range gears it will take away some of your high and low range performance. I have two sets of rims, aftermarket rims on the 30’s and oem ones on the 215’s so depending on what I will be doing, I change between the two. If you have a nice friendly tyre place, I would recommend taking the car in and testing on 1 wheel first, test it on a ramp and also test by turning the steering. Also watch my vids on tyres, i shared what I personally look for before fitting bigger tyres on optimus

What's the tyre pressure for these tyres on jimny?

@@NZninG we just set it to the standard 1.8 bar and that seems to work for us

Do you have a resource I can use to find this 80mm lift kit, like a link. I want 30” tires on my Jimny, but I just want to make sure you need 80mm of lift to fit them. The biggest iron man lift I can find for the Jimny is 50mm. Thank you so much. Great video too.

The springs I bought that gave me a 75-80mm lift were the type c springs. I believe they are heavy duty springs

Hello guys! 2 questions: For 30 tyres, If I wanted to keep stock bumpers, is that possible just cutting a bit in front like an inch and will fit properly?. Just wondering. 2. If I got the back ladder 30 tyre will fit or I need to remove the ladder?. Thank you!
@febuilds
@febuilds 5 ай бұрын
@@jorgemidencearauz1232 if you have a lift kit on the car, im sure it could fit with slight cutting on the plastics. Wrt your ladder, it will depend on the ladder you have.

Hello! Nice video! I have the same Jimny and i want to go for the same tire setup (30/9.5 r15), im actually on 215/65r15. I want it for the extra 1.5" of ground clearance that it can gain. ¿Would you recommend this tire setup? and if your Jimny is MT ¿it does affect much the clutch the extra weight of the 30" tires? Thanks you so much for your response!

Very good question, FE Builds is all about experimenting and testing, we found that the biggest you can push to without changing gear ratios is 235/75r15 but even then, you will feel the reduction in power. With the 30’s you will battle in low range without gear reduction on technical sections and in 2h, your gear 5 will be very weak on long steep hills. We have 2 sets of tyres, 215/75R15(for technical sections and long distance highway travel) and 30’s that we just pop on when we plan on doing high speed very bad gravel roads where that extra 1.5” is needed. Optimus is a MT. I would recommend 215/75r15 but if you do high speed on bumpy terrain and jumps then get 30’s also, if you go this route, keep both sets and get a second set of rims so you can just swop them out depending on your needs

@@febuilds thanks a lot for your detail answer! Here where i live there is a lot more of technical parts and to get there you have to drive a lot in highway. I dont want (right now) to spend on gear reductions, so i think maybe max out that i will consider is 235/75R15. Again, thanks a lot.

No, when the 30’s are on, you feel the weight. Planning to do that sometime soon
