The Jimny only has 106hp the best tires and sized for the Jimny is the Yokohama Geolandar AT4 215/75R15 Load D it great for On/Off Road. The BFG KO2/3 235/75R15 or the 30.5 is too big and heavy you feel very sluggish. Also the BFG KO2 or 3 is slippery on wet road it dangerous. If you are 80% Off Road get the BFG KO3 if you are 50/50 get the Yokohama Geolandar AT4

I don’t know how long the battery life is with the standard motor and esc because as it was brand new before even trying it out with the stock motor, i put the hobbywing fusion 1800kv motor and with the fusion, the 5600 mah 2s lipo lasts very long, i took the car on a very long walk and crawl session and hours later it was still at 70% when i checked on the battery meter.

Howsit going man, on that rc we had the same issue but we played around much with the settings in the esc. One suggestion and strong recommendation from me would be for you to buy a hobbywing fusion pro or a fusion se, they are extremely smooth if FOC is set right, it makes the rc look like its in slow motion when you want to go slow, but at the same time the motor also has allot of power. Thanks for the suggestion, watch the king of the trails video it showed full flex, full lock through obstacles without touching, however I would advise that before you go out and buy 30”, first ask the tyre shop to fit one for you, and then at the shop test full turn side to side. Also add a ramp so the car can flex and you can see if it touches. Most tyre places have a ramp. You will lose abit of power in acceleration and going up hill. Unless you do a reduction gear mod, you will drive many sections of trail low range in 1st gear. Check through all our vids, you will find vids covering all that

The music is annoying. Pretty good for stock, but hey that's not a particularly hard course, obv. it'd be a lot harder for a much longer wheelbase vehicle. Biggest problem with Jimnys here in 'Straya is the lack of space. You haven't got enough room to take much stuff or much fuel so you're not going away for a week or more. Probably good for people who can control the urge to take everything away with them.

Radius arm cup guards, yes. Diff's, no. They are so solid your'd really have to be careless to damage them, and as the are so low you make it worth adding anything to them. Transfer case guard, definitely, but not a guard that mounts on the transfer case supports, this defeats the whole purpose of protecting it. The best option is the style that goes from one side of the chassis to the other. Like the Jimny Bits one or ACFab Jimny transfer case guard here in NZ, which is modeled off the Jimny Bits one. Fuel tank guard, yes. Rocksliders, definately, but they must protect the door sills and not just be glorified side steps, and chassis mount, do not use the body mount points. My 2 cents worth. Cheers

The AllGrip system is a Brake Actuated system. Meaning, when one wheel is spinning but the other ON THE SAME AXLE isn’t the computer applies brakes on the spinning wheel and doing so transfers torque to the stationary wheel. When other brands react quickly to this situation the AllGrip does not. The AllGrip needs 4-5 full turns of the spinning wheel for the computer to apply brakes when other brand only needs fractions of a turn to react. The AllGrip needs a driver who understands the system. I.e., a driver that are not afraid of 3000-4000 rpm’s when in mud or 2000 rpm’s in low range when rock climbing. With diff-lockers you can drive way more controlled at way less rpm’s and way less stress. I have double diff-lockers in my Jimny too, not your brand though. Double diff-lockers is by far the best modification i have done to date.

@febuilds

Its very hard to say, it depends on usage, how many mods you do on the car, driving intown vs on highway, how heavy your foot is on the paddle, with us when Optimus has the roof rack and 30” tyres +-320km’s, when we removed the rack but still kept the tyres, the number shot up to +-350, with the smaller 215 tyres on the highway its about +-370kms, with 195 tyres, we were getting better range. So it depends. One can’t give you a definite answer. We can only speak from our experience and in our case it’s modified and the numbers would be different from a stock jimny

Lets Keep it positive. Optimus’s diff height is at 240mm’s from the stock 210. You are talking about true ground clearance. There’s two ways we have always increase true ground clearance, portal axles or bigger tyres. Bigger tyres is the cheaper option but you need to lift the jimny before you can fit tyres that will make a noticeable difference in true ground clearance.

The reason the range varies when you fill up is because the range is an estimate, calculated "on the fly", based on average fuel consumption, and that average fuel consumption changes based on how & where you're driving - low range, city, highway - if you go through two tanks full in the city, fill the tank, note the range, and then immediately go onto a highway, you should see the range increase as you drive - I've seen instances where at the start of a trip, the estimated range is about thirty miles more than the trip distance, and at my destination, the estimate to empty is double that - because the actual highway consumption is so much better than the actual city consumption. NEVER rely on the range estimates, use the fuel level bar graph and low fuel light for guidance. Also - as has been pointed out in other comments - filling the tank the way you did is a good way to flood the EVAP canister - NOT RECOMMENDED.
@febuilds
@febuilds 2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the info. The best way to see whats really going on and how full your tank is, is to plug in a high end obd2 bi directional diagnostic tool. Yes range will vary, offroad vs on road, town vs highway. The reason we were shaking the car is you will find that you will never really fill up the 40l capacity at first click. If you have an obd 2 diagnostic tool. After filling up to first click plug in and check what the tank is sitting on. We have been doing tests on the highway and in town recording and offroad, gathering data, after we have enough data, we will be able to gain a clear picture of what can be attained from a full tank, on the highway, in town, offroad(low range), with 30” tyres vs 215’s, with a roof rack on vs off. We are just waiting to gather enough data to come up with reliable figures.

Just going to point out that the weight of the assembled wheel doesn't tell the whole story - the weight of the assembled wheel is the weight of the rim plus the weight of the tire - a light rim with a heavy tire might have the same assembled weight as a heavier rim with a lighter tire, but you will see a huge difference in the way the car accelerates, and even more in the way it stops when you brake. You really need to be looking at the weight of the tire and not the assembled wheel.
@febuilds
@febuilds 2 ай бұрын
Very true indeed. We have done that before but really just wanted to put out the tyre on rim weights, because i had them on hand, yes theres much more that goes into it. You can definitely feel an acceleration difference when you go bigger. 👍🏾🙂
