Fitting R56 JCW Brakes to my R53 MINI Cooper S - Episode 3

I decided to put together a little video of the process of fitting the upgraded calipers and discs on my track car project. Please don't treat this as a tutorial though. Of course you will need to top up the fluid and bleed the system correctly before use on the road/track.

Already have Budweg calipers with brembo disc and pads love them no issues whatsoever,,,perfect

I had the exact same disc and pad combo on my ep3 type r and used it at Snetterton. Definitely a good choice. Would love to see more bits on the mini as I just got myself one too

How are this budweg, are they good enogh for track use on a mini cooper s r53, or i need to go for oem jcw or the vmaxx big brake, what do you reccomend?

Where can you buy these 4-piston calipers? I have looked on Rock Auto and all I see is the normal single piston calipers. I can get plenty of 316mm rotors, but NO 316mm calipers!!!

The best I can come up with for the part numbers is a set of part number interchanges that I found on eBay for the Brembo 4 piston calipers. Please understand that these are interchange numbers and not actual part numbers you can take to your favorite local BMW dealer and buy these parts needed to do the brake swap …not without getting the police called on you like happened to me or having the guy at the parts counter laugh and say “We don’t sell KZfaq calipers”. Please note that the author had at one point the part numbers in his possession and simply omitted the part numbers from the video and the description. 2015 - 2020 MINI F54 CLUBMAN JOHN COOPER WORKS PART NUMBER INTERCHANGE: Front Left Caliper - 688625902 Front Right Caliper - 688626002 Rear Right Caliper - 6885596 Rear Left Caliper - 6885595

AS28g The Escort hasn’t been forgotten about. It’s still an ongoing project. Unfortunately though it is being done as a weekend hobby so the pace isn’t as fast as it could be.

I know the video is close to two years old now. But did you have any issues with the inner pads not sliding in? Got the Budweg calipers too, and all four of my Hel Race pads won't fit into the inside lol. There's not even a millimeter difference between inner and outer half, but makes it block. Obviously will take that difference off, just curious if you had that problem aswell.

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't had any issues with fitting the pads, so I can't help out sorry. Hopefully you get it sorted though.

@@carshizz1185 it's fine man. I've actually just grinded the outside of the pad back plate slightly (was less than a millimeter difference together) and it all fit perfectly. They do their job properly and you hear them good going on the brakes haha.

what pad wear sensor did you use ? r53 ones or the ones for the JCW sport BBK?

Moka Cat To be honest, I have done away with the wear sensor. Being a track car, it will be regularly checked for wear

Carl Simon I’m running 17” team dynamics and they clear the calipers with no issues.

@@JeremyFuchs Joke or rude? Probably both. But the analogy to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is most appropriate. Both you and the author quite simply failed to provide a part number and potential source for the calipers and associated parts for this swap as if it is some sort of secret. You even asked the question yourself and when you did get the information you were seeking, you failed to tell the rest of the world. Part numbers are just a little detail needed for someone else to try to source the parts needed so they too can have the same brakes as is the subject of the video. I went to my local BMW dealer and I asked how much do the calipers in the KZfaq video cost? They gave me a funny look and called the police. If the purpose is to tease or give a “hey look at me”, then the video was a success. But if the purpose was to educate the reader then an “F” is the only appropriate grade. So you have a shot at passing the semester, the annoying and pathetic little Charley Bucket kept buying stupid chocolate bars until he got the golden ticket. My golden ticket is the part number and source for the JCW Brembo 4 piston calipers

Shimaze I totally agree, the guy made a big secret out for where to get the brakes. I did get the reaction out of you that I wanted, per say not the nicest of me. So here I go, these are Budweg Calipers, you can buy them on a few different websites. I will order mine on autodoc.com.
