Yea I agree, it’s all about what you want from the tyre. I run 265/75/16 Blacklion tyres on my P38, mainly because I got them 2nd hand from a mate and they only had less than 1000ks on them.

Hay Keithy, I have just come across your channel & it has been great as i've just picked up a P38 for our new (Old) off-road rig we are building up in 2024. 1 Quick question around your tyre choice & size. with the 285 75/16, Do you have any rubbing or wa any cutting required. I did see your Vid on the 2 inch lift, but was any other mods required (E.G different offset on the rims) ? Cheers, Mat.

G’day Mat, nice to meet you! Thanks for the message, I’m glad you’re finding it good 😀 I have no rubbing, except when driving in access height. Just off-centre in access height it’ll touch the front guard lightly. It’s not enough that it grabs, just a light brush. Otherwise, no touching at all. I can full flex the suspension, drive tracks, hills, ruts and not scrub a tyre anywhere. I still run the factory rear mud flaps, but have no flaps on the front. The rims are standard +57 offset (which is the standard P38 offset). The wheels are 16 x 8”. I am now on my second set of 285/75/16’s. So far I have done close to 100,000km with no issues in this size.

Awesome. thanks for the update. I will be starting my build in the coming months (probably years). I am trying to stay at standard height suspension at this stage & need to work out Tyre sizes without rubbing when crossed up. I also saw your spare wheel carrier. Any info on that would be great 🤠@@Keithy_W

You have your work cut out for you 🤣 You’ll need a 2” lift to fit the 33” tyres. If you don’t lift it (with an actual lift kit) you will need to extend your bump stops at the very least, otherwise you will rip the guards to bits, and you’ll also sacrifice a lot of suspension travel. The rear wheel carrier is an adapted 100 series one from Rigidig (from memory).

True, I would be happy to find out what is the largest that will fit on the stock height & rims. If it is like my old RRC, it should be 235/85 16 (i hope) 🤞@@Keithy_W
