Those glasses would work great in a wheel well where a helmet wont fit, i did 1 with no helmet and got such a sunburn i couldnt believe it! Thanks Tony!

Always enjoy your videos. There's always something to learn. Just the fact that someone is wearing glasses provides "some" protection from UV Ray. Glasses, whether glass or plastic cut UV Rays. That was me that sent the welding glasses. I love em. No more clumbersome helmet.

I have used the same technique for decades, high heat tacks to get the penetration, then sort, hot bursts to fill in. I started at age 11 with oxy acetylene welding cars, mig was a revaluation and much easier! Love your vids, keep up the good work.

Super video Tutorial as always. I wish I had done this on the top of the rear fenders on an MGB I was working on recently. Much better idea, to keep that dreaded rust out. In fact I think all MGB's should have the rear Factory seams repaired like this.

I love the glasses. Been doing rockers on a car on a lift and the helmet/car/door/lift arm and my head all try to occupy the same space. Great idea/find!

As always BEAUTIFUL! Last year I was very near blind, I had to spend $$$$ to get my eyes repaired. Now I ALWAYS protect them. Good luck to you !

Awesome job, this is guna be one excellent rig, all the car's have lost their shape, most new cars here in Australia once they have been in an accident they are either parted out or crushed, my mother's car got the front bumper torn of, insurance roat it off, 2016 model Nissan, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones

This patch method saved my life. Just finished my first frame off. I had to replace the quarters on my ‘65 Impala and this made it easy to get it right. A tiny bit of filler after and now that it’s painted you can’t tell I ever replaced them

it never occurred to me to use a T dolly that way, Genius !

Never seen your channel before. Thought I'd pass a pro tip to your readers, as you were saying the metal was ground to much. Tip on dent repair, do your grinding before you straighten the dent while the surfaces are smoother, this will eliminate grinding too much metal off the high spots after you straighten.

One tip I learnt elsewhere is that when you press down on the patch .. if you bridge the join with the tool it makes it easier to get the level right because you can't push down too far.

My first job was pumping gas, and the owner was always working on cars. He showed me this way to do spot welds without wearing a mask. I was pretty good at it as I recall. I will say it has been the better part of 40 years since I did this type of welding. I guess I can do a bit of practicing.

I'm not preaching but I did want to point out that those glasses and if I'm correct, they're designed more for grinding than welding. I have a set and didn't realize that and I did some welding with them. Also, the next 2 days my whole face was sunburned😊 Again, not preaching and knowledge is power.

Hey fitze. Awesome job as usual. I have been doing insurance collision work for forty one years now so used to thin metal that’s zinc coated hence very thin, susceptible to massive warping and zinc coated conducive to blowing holes in your weld area. What works better than straight oxygen is 75%oxygen 25%argon A lot less spattering and blowing holes especially in thinner metals. Just a thought, you probably know this already though. As well I never knew about these glasses either 👍

Hi Tony. The tips are good. Interesting discussion about angling the torch tip to hide the arc. I have accidentally struck an arc without my hood down and it was an unpleasant experience. I think I will keep using the helmet and just deal with the ups and downs of that. Nice repairs on that quarter panel. Thanks for the video!

I came across ur channel little over a year ago and just cant get enough of the content!!! love how u show doing ur work with common hand tools, how to take ur time and get it right, and when You do mess up how you correct it! i wish they made a welding helmet with clear to auto darkling lens! i have noticed the they do make lens that will attaché to inside of helmets with prescriptions and/or cheater lens.. maybe you can get the welding glasses with prescriptions lens already installed?

When I tack weld without my helmet, I smell burnt flesh that was my face for the next 2 days. Those glasses are definitely a fashion statement. My welding teacher told us if we didn't hear eggs frying, then we are not welding correctly. The Fleetline is looking good.

I just got a few pair of those glasses I love them for tacking under the car where you helmet gets in the way

I learned a ton from you fitzee! I just tried to do a long curved wheel arch. I cut the piece of metal to a curve i templated.. Problem was i cut it flat but when i curved the metal into a wheel arch, it changed my outer crown curve. I had the whole thing welded solid before i found it was off. I had to cut half of it and reset the piece. Luckily i left it just wide enough for room to adjust it.

You're styling with those fancy welding glasses! What does Wendy think? I'm with you on the difficulty of seeing those seams through a helmet. I use a bright magnetic light adjacent to the seam so I can see the darn thing. That works good for me but everyone is different. Great video as always Fitzee. I have the exact same model of welding glasses. They are great! I use them for quick jobs. When I do prolongued jobs, I still use the full mask. UV burns are not fun, specially in the face. Cheers from Puerto Rico, FItzee!
