This is a new series we're beginning where we sit down and talk about "Five favorite things."

Yeah, he gave them notes, comments, etc. But they didn't have to listen to a word he said. So they could still technically go way off-book and do their own thing with it.

They are hinting that C3 will be mixed up. Best guess at the moment is that they might have be doing a version of a west marches Campaign, with a bunch of guest characters. So we might get him in C3. I hope so. I'd love to see Brandon on CR. Preferably at the same time as Patrick Roofus. I wonder what's he'd play? The master of magic systems would *have* to be some kind of Sorcerer imo. Or an Arcana Cleric.

One of my best friends, as well as my writing partner, and I bonded one day at college when he was describing a book with a sentient sword, and I burst out, “Warbreaker?“ we began to nerd out after that, which was 10 years ago, and have never looked back. Watching this video very much reminds me of that budding friendship, and it warms my heart! As a diehard fan of Boy Meets World, Critical Role, and virtually everything Brandon Sanderson writes, this pressed nearly every single nerd/fan button I have! Thank you!

This is a great series! I really liked hearing Will's perspective as someone working extensively in the business and why he likes certain shows even if they are ones I personally don't love. And the rapport with Brandon was great too.

Great episode! I'm a big fan of Will Friedle from growing up in the 90's and watching Boy meets world. I'm really excited for the WoT TV series and even more excited knowing Brandon is a producer on it. It makes me think it will not ruin a great story.

Cowboy Bebop is one of the least "anime-like" animes out there. Someone who doesn't like the genre can still enjoy it. One of the things I like about it is you are never spoon-fed Spike's backstory. You get bits and pieces and are left to put it together yourself. I like a show that respects your intelligence like that.

@@e.matthews Anime is animation. The reason it differs is down to cultural differances, in style, subject matter, etc. There is also the fact, that "anime" as a term, means different things to a western audience than it does to a japanese audience. To a japanese person, Batman is an anime. Anime just equals animation. But for some reason, in the west, "anime" as a term has some bagage. Regardless, the reason why anime is a medium and not a genre is quite simple. You can find any genre within anime. This is also where some of the cultural differences are apparant. But in the world of anime (and manga as well, which is the comic book equivalent) there are shows targeting to all age groups. Some key word to search for if interested: Seinen (adult male), Shounen (young male), Josei (adult female) and Shoujo (young female). Most westerners only really know examples of shounen shows like; Dragonball, Pokemon, Naruto, One Piece. These are often the most popular, which I imagine explains at least in part why "anime is for kids" is such an established view point. Anyways, I'm rambling. To try and summarize a bit. Calling anime a genre would be a bit like calling all music produced in India for a genre, instead of just the media of music, through the lense of India's culture.

@@Elidan1012 Thank you for your reply!! Yes, that clears things up. I was immediately skeptical of the idea of anime being a different medium, seeing as... well... it's just not. But clearly there are in-tribe uses for terms, and these are far from universal anyways. In fact I'm sure all media have genre discussions that pan out exactly like the above!

Fantastic, really. If it was up to me doing this list I would also add The Wonder Years. Now that show was such a unique combination of humor, drama, storytelling, character growth (and change) etc etc. Best of all, there was no laugh track!

Will Friedle is the reason that my generation had the best children's programing. Boy Meets World and Kim Possible are both wonderful and remain touchstones for my childhood. So cool to see him and Brandon nerding out.
