I put a cheap radiator in mine from autozone. Plastic side tanks, probably Chinese made. It was just what was available at the time for me. I reluctantly went this route. Almost 5 years later I have had zero issues with it. Heck even new cars made today and the last 20 years have plastic side tanks so it should be no surprise that it’s been just fine. One day it will fail, as all parts do, but it has a lifetime warranty so I’ll get another (probably) when this happens. Have had zero cooling issues. It even got a new duralast water pump at the same time. So there are cheaper options out there guys. You don’t have to spend the $200-$300 on a big aluminum radiator.

Totally true. I used an OSC from Rock Auto on this project, and I have used them before, and they are fine. If you use an extra-thick aluminum radiator you can create other issues such as clearance issues with the front of the engine, mounting issues, and fan shroud issues, so you should be sure you REALLY need that extra cooling before you go that route. A simple service replacement like I used here is a lot less grief.

@@rolandrodriguez7145 I’ve gotten lots of stuff from Late Model Restoration(LMR). Assuming that’s who you meant. They are good to buy from for sure.

Great video for some folks that haven’t been in the Fox game for very long. I replaced a fuel pump on my ‘87 shortly after I bought it. It had the return tube blocked off with a plastic cap and worm drive hose clamp. I was changing the pump because my fuel pressure was acting weird and the engine was very rich. Any idea why someone would do that? I’m guessing just ignorance but I’m not sure. I removed the cap and added a correct one with a slit for the fuel to return to the tank.

You know the typical Foxbody is on it's 15th owner, and with cars like that there is virtually always at least one real hatchet man in the background. Working on them is an adventure, and some of the fuel tanks are a real horror show. I've seen them full of black goop, I had one with a piece of electrical tape sucked up over the pump inlet on the fuel strainer (sock), cracked internal hoses like this, cracked discharge tubes on the outside of the fuel hat, rust, dirt, you name it. I have not seen the situation you are talking about, but it was probably just ignorance. I've also tried to change my mindset a little bit for KZfaq because I know that some of these videos touch on topics that seem elementary to seasoned veterans of these cars, but there are all kinds of people out there who are starting at square one, and I think it helps them to know about some of these things that the veterans see as common knowledge. Hopefully even the seasoned guys learn a thing or two from them as well, and I try to mix it up with posts on some more technical or hard core topics and profiles of cars that I think are really cool. Thanks for watching and for your support!

Down in the states here and have started to fain as much knowledge as I can to work on these cars myself... In the region I live in there is a gross lack of knowledge that local shops have much less performance shops... the return factor for pure work done or understanding of basic application of principle auto mechanics is dismal.... SO I try an absorb as much knowledge as I can and through repeat trial and error, I'll get my fox bodies working properly..... Thanks again

The fan in my ‘93 with 45K on it, has some small hairline cracks in it. I’ve got a new replacement sitting in the garage for a winter project. I don’t want to take that chance.

A lot of these plastic fans have not aged gracefully. It’s a good policy to replace it before disaster strikes!

That’s a rough story. LMR have a good guide to belt routing and lengths for various accessory configurations on their web site.

I cracked my firewall do to the clutch cable. it was heavy but I drove it anyways to the point the wall just cracked 🤕Maybe I installed my adjustable clutch cable & quadrant kit wrong........?🤔
@tecmotiondyno
@tecmotiondyno Жыл бұрын
I’ve never seen a Mustang firewall crack because of the clutch but I have a street rod based on the Factory Five kit and I was sure I would get flexing on the aluminum firewall if I didn’t reinforce it so we welded a 1/4” steel plate reinforcement to the chassis directly behind the firewall and the clutch cable pulls against that. I see new problems or variants of problems all the time on Mustangs, but that’s a new one to me.

@@tecmotiondyno Yeah even till today still don't know why, I even grease the new cable. Well, the car is apart for restoration right now, maybe one day I'll figure it out.
