DIY Fix Noisy Panoramic Roof - 2013 Tesla Model S
Over time, the pano roof develops some creaking, cracking, clicking noises when closed. In this video, I show you the noises the pano roof makes and how to eliminate those noises.
This is a 2013 Tesla Model S 85, built in late August 2013, VIN P20,xxx, with about 108,000 miles on it as of the time of this video.

Along with what you did, do the following to calibrate to tight closure. Go to software tab touch model s under the picture of the car for 7 seconds. Type service in pop up window. Ok to enable service mode. With the moving glass closed, have an assistant sit in the vehicle and firmly press up on the moving glass. If the glass moves, readjust the latching tab.

i have same issue, i used Rubber seal conditioner, and spray on all the rubber seal around the moonroof, then it closed tightly, and noise are gone. Wish that helps.

my 2014 has been making wind noises from the pano roof since I took it in to get the main rubber seal replaced. they cant figure it out... anyone have this issue and solve it?

I haven’t had that issue. Sounds like the seal isn’t seated properly or the pano isn’t adjusted to make sure it fully closes. Also, not wishing to offend you but also double-check that all four side windows are all the way up. One time I was hearing wind noise I thought was coming from the pano only to find out one of my rear windows was just slightly open (just that little bit like when it comes down so you can open the door)….

This fix with the electrical tape is likely to bring more problems once it comes of.. this is a moving part do not put electrical tape on this it will come loose and stick

@ericcollignon2299: Granted it’s a temporary fix and will likely need to be redone. When the tape dries out or when you remove it, use some rubbing alcohol on a paper towel to remove any sticky residue. Not a problem. If applied to a cleaned surface I have not had the tape come off and cause the tab to stick. Also Tesla’s “official” fix is a different type of tape strip applied over the metal tab. This has been a known issue since 2013.

Original new from Tesla was felt tape over that tab. Probably easy enough to find felt tape, electrical tape does tend to become a hit sticky mess
